  1. No worries Pete Rich
  2. Christ, give the guy a break. Jason's a nice fella. He puts it up on here first and says if no interest he'll put it on Ebay. I'm sure if someone on here had offered him $1200 he'd have taken it, given Ebay's slice of the winning bid etc. All you do is post that it's only worth $800/$900 and then you whinge because you haven't seen it on Ebay - were you just trying to wangle the price down? It really gets on my tits when normal soulies like us (i.e punters not dealers) put records for sale on here and people post "it's not worth that" or similar. If you think they're over priced, don't buy. But don't try and deter everyone else from buying by posting up that they're overpriced and generally having a go and being a smartarse. Normal punters on here sell records for all sorts of reasons - to fund new purchases and sometimes to pay bloody bills, so less sniping please. Rich
  3. Hi Dukester, Should be around £100-£125 really. I wouldn't pay much more. They crop up on lists fairly regularly and i'm sure someone on here somewhere will have one they're prepared to part with. Top tune Rich
  4. Don't be ridiculous Cookster - they're middle aged Newies !!!! Discuss... Rich p.s you well???
  5. How you can class this as Rockabilly is beyond me! It's black, authentic, rhythm & blues from a Chicago label/group synonymous with great soul/r&b 45s that have been played for years on the northern scene. So do you also hate stuff like Bud Harper and Mickie Champion? Do you call those records rockabilly?! It's definitely the "right" side of R&B and can't possibly be compared to some of the other pap played that masquerades as R&B e.g Barbara Redd etc I could understand more if you didn't like it because it's been played a lot, but however you look at it, it's not rockabilly in the slightest. Rich
  6. Craig, look at his feedback and the items he has sold - no other soul records at all. Too much of a coinicidence to be selling a handful of records and within that handful is Yvonne Vernee, Cashmeres, Bill Bush etc etc. Plus the pictures/scans he's used are from items that have recently sold on Ebay i.e he's nicked the pics from old auctions. Plus, he won't accept Paypal which gives a certain degree of protection. Get wise fella, always check feedback and what sort of items the feedback is for Rich
  7. I know. Kind of Swampy with 45s
  8. I emailed him and offered that my gf would pop in to Florida (where she's fictitiously on holiday) and meet him and pay for the records personally. "No meets, just Western Union"!!!! I also asked him about the Shirley Edwards being the same scan as last week and he said it was a "coincidence" . I've just told the plank he's a fraudster and that Ebay will be suspending his account. I also called him a knobhead. R
  9. Steve, there was no way I was defending him on the xxxxxxx xxxxxxx charge Rich
  10. When I was 18, my then girlfriend in an act of argumentative rage (like this ) held my copy of Doug Banks on Argo out of my bedroom window and seriously threatened to chuck it out, shouting hysterically that I loved "that soul shit" more than her. Which of course I didn't... This is beginning to feel like a Dear Deirdre moment, but please bear with me (bottled it up for all these years ). Fast forward a year and miraculously we're still together. I visit her at her university halls. Have major row in her room (this is a couple of months before we split up for good) and she won't let me leave. Blocks the doorway. We're on the third floor. I spy the open window and she sees me eyeing up the opportunity. It involves me getting out of the window and chancing it on a rusty drainpipe (no jokes please). In the fashion that only an angry woman can deliver, she delivers through gritted teeth "you dare" (whilst still blocking said doorway). With a hint of triumphalism I winked at her (had the desired effect of even more rage - approaching infinity by now) and was out of the window and down the drainpipe. Thankfully it never gave way and I was alive at the bottom, with an enormous sense of well being. She came running out and shouted at me saying I was selfish . Thanks for listening!!!! Rich "the drainpipe" Buckley....

  13. That's really useful Pete, I like the way Christianarseattack keeps replying to the negative feedback and calling people "Liar"!!... - he's kind of in denial me thinks "Thief" "Liar" "Thief" "Liar" - it's an Ebay crooks' panto!!!! Rich

Got tons of this stuff - fell in love with it in my mod days and still buy it whenever I see stuff: Ray Barretto: "Mercy Mercy Baby" "Together/New York" "Soul Drummers" "Right On" "Teacher Of Love" - all Fania 45s and "Do You Dig It" on UA. My fave of all time is Joe Bataan: "Gypsy Woman/So Fine" "Special Girl/Magic Rose" "What Good Is A Castle" "Subway Joe" all Fania 45s - totally totally super soulful! Monguito - Hey Sister - Fania Ray Jay & Eastsiders - Searchin' - Cotique Mace has already mentioned Bobby Valentin which crossed to the northern scene - Larry Harlow - Mess Around on gold Fania did too. Pete Rodriguez - I Like It Like That on Alegre is fantastic and I only got it on 45 this week (had it on LP for ages) Harvey Averne - Central Park - Uptite (fave of Jamie's dad!!) David Coleman (not not the BBC sports presenter!!) - Drown My Heart on Barry Hector rivera - At the Party on Barry LeBron Bros - Boogaloo Blues on Cotique Ricardo Ray - Nitty Gritty - Alegre Anyone who fancies delving into this style for the first time should check out the "We Got Latin Soul" compilations that came out on a Charly subsidiary label "Caliente" in the mid 80s - Vols 1 & 2 are class, 3 is a bit weaker with a lot of covers e.g a 100mph bongo version of Cool Jerk by Barretto!! I got them on vinyl at the time, but i'm sure they've been re-released on CDs by now???? Anyhow, get stuck in, it's quality! I'm gonna do an all latin soul set one day!!!! Rich
  17. Had Garland Green autograph the label of "Girl I love You" many moons ago late 80s/early 90s in a weekender (must have been Cleethorpes or Yarmouth??) - "To Richard" etc - looks like if I ever do sell it, I'll have to find another Richard to flog it to . I seem to recall him in an all white outfit - bloody legendry though all the same. I was also ecstatic getting an autograph from Lorraine Chandler (on paper). Tragically (as a welshman) I had mixed emotions when I read it - "Richard, you're England's blessing" !!! Rich
