  4. Hi Tony - phew some nice wants there, that lot should keep you googling/saving/spending for years! Have got an Audrey Royal and didnt realise it was such a hard one to find. Found 2 copies (I think) in Miami early 90's and flogged the other one dirt cheap. It's only vinyl, derek
  5. Anybody got a copy of the Hesitations "Wait a minute" on Kapp they wanna sell/trade me please? Must be at least Ex. Not fussed issue or DJ which ever is cheapest. It's for a mate of mine honest - and no it's not the old rouse either of "I'm after a cheap copy for my mate whoes in a wheel chair/dying of an incurable illness so I can unashamedly sell it on myself for profit". Off list PM or email D.Pearson@bradford.ac.uk cheers, derek My mate's called Mathew Simpson ex London now deepest Wigan. Hesitations "Wait a minute/Soul kind of love" Kapp 810. Got a lovely mint black issue myself - what a sound, what a great double sider.
  6. did I? As I get older it get's more and more embarrassing as people often talk about what I'd printed in the mag years ago and I've absolutely no recollection of what was inbetween the pages. Why would I - it was a long time ago and I never revisit the master copies. One day (he says hopefully) I'll get 'round to having a "Shades Of Soul" website with old articles reprinted. One day. Go on Sean tell me other things I printed hehehe. Yeah our gang loved Pitches wonder if I've got some old photos tucked away. derek
  7. Hi Craig - there was really no need to allow him to pull out of the deal as you'd included the shipping costs on the item page, If he didnt read it first thats his fault. I think you might have been too generous, it's you that's got to try re-sell the record again and what happens if it doesnt shift next time. You've lost a sale, alright it wasn't major dollars but it was money that should have been in your pocket not his. Even if he thinks your shipping costs are outrageous it was up to him to decide whether to bid on the record before hand or not, you hadnt hidden the costs so there's no subterfuge on your part. It's his mistake and he has to pay. Remember if you win records on Ebay you're entering a legal obligation to pay blah blah blah. So what if the shipping costs are more expensive than the actual record he's won, doesn't that mean he's got a great cheap bargain, how greedy does he want to be? He has no grounds at all to leave you negative feedback though he might. You can't worry about that untill you see what he's written. Oh the joys of Ebay eh... onwards, derek
  8. There was definately a UK Peachtree label which had at least 1 maybe 2 releases. When the Peachtree label discog & story was printed in 'Shades Of Soul' a few issues ago the UK arm was discussed either in the main article or as additions in the following issue. Wouldn't you love to know the exact true sales figures for UK releases like this? Er I would. onwards, derek
  9. Bit by bit I added more pebbles on my beach..... First came the Delwands "This time" which I'm still not sure about, never rated the messy flip though. Then Earles Inc came along "Just an Illusion" no it wasn't, it was a fine piece of groovyness. On the strength of that I picked up another of their releases "Close to you". Mmmm oh well and I soon traded it off. At a recent Burnley all-nighter I traded some records with that nice man Baz Atkinson and the Symphonic Four "Who are you fooling" was added to the fold. A bit of diggin revealed a couple of funk things by Wallace, Sid Sidney & the Belairs. Can anybody else add to the collective knowledge? Together we shall make the world a better place tra la la la...... derek
  10. not really sure which boxes these clips fit in - they aren't crossover, you'd be hard pushed to dance to them and they certainly ain't deep in the traditional sense. Nate Adams "Why is it taking so long" (Atlantic) and the bonus is the northern flip "I'm gonna be good". Right back to filing 45s away........ derek
  11. not really sure which boxes these clips fit in - they aren't crossover, you'd be hard pushed to dance to them and they certainly ain't deep in the traditional sense. Clarence_Glover.mp3 Clarence Glover "Keep your promises" on Lyndell - I mean just the sound of these words makes you think "yeah this is gonna be tasty" and it is. derek
  12. not really sure which boxes these clips fit in - they aren't crossover, you'd be hard pushed to dance to them and they certainly ain't deep in the traditional sense. Sorta collect this guy's output and it took a wants list to remind me just how rather special this is - File under "Serious" derek Chuck Armstrong "Better place" (Black Rock)
  13. I've always rated the double sider by the Heartbreakers on Derby-City, you gets "I've got to face it" on the northern side whilst the flip "How do you say goodbye" satisfies your sweetness. That was release number 101 and I always wondered if there was anything on the label worth chasing? My thinking was because it was such a colourful label and they didn't skimp on the design it must have had some money behind it so surely it wouldn't have fallen at the first fence*. Then I finds out release 102 is DeDe Townsend "This is our life" which I saw on a list last year at £100. Anybody got a soundclip they can post up? Or any thoughts on the record or label which I believe operated in 1968. onwards, derek *danger trainee comedian at work hohoho
  14. go on somebody must want Timi Yuro for £25 free P&P anywhere? Paypal + 4%. derek

  17. And the prices keep falling.... Benny £30, Shirelles £20, Herbie's still £8 though. derek
  18. Joe's now down to twenty five quid. All the terms are still the same. derek
  19. eh up salmon hows it going? We Bradford lads have to cross over the border to show you manchester lads how it should be done. "I was only helping that sheep over the fence officer". onwards, derek
  20. hey up Dave how's it going? Bet you've already figured it out now yellow label an' all - if not try this - Wilt rhymes MS. Impressive eh? derek
  21. Cast a line and wait....I knew by writing that line a buddy would be bursting to reply with a quip like yours Blake hehehe. In the mid 90's money was literally falling out of my pockets, I was single had no car and was going to the states record hunting for 3 weeks every year. So what do you think of the record then Blake? When I tell you what I paid for this particular record you'll realise I had more money than sense then..... derek
  22. Calling themselves the Hi-Lites this song first appeared on the Daran label in 1964. The group morphed into the Chilites and a year later the song came out on Blue Rock. Is it exactly the same mix? But my favourite version is the stormer by Samuel Moore & the Chi's-TNT's on DJO. Go on! Anybody wanna tag on some more versions/sound clips? derek 01_Hi_Lites.mp3 03_Chilites.mp3 02_Sam_Moore.mp3
  23. In the mid 90's our merry band of pranksters used to travel down the M1 every month or so to a club called 'Pitches' in Rotheram. The guy that ran Blacknight Records in Sheffield used to always have a rather large sales box sat on a table which I used to plough through constantly. He always had a handful of more "interesting" things tucked away which he'd show to those he knew weren't shy with their money. This record came out of that pile. To add spice it's not in any of the price guides I've got and I've never heard of either the label or artist before. Surely you're curious now? It's dated 1974 and at 3:30 mins it's half a minute too long. It starts really nicely but has a bit of a wobbly phase 'bout minute and a half in. It's on the right side of good but a long way off from being brilliant. Doubt if you could play it in many clubs, Soul Essence & the Orwell are the only ones that spring to mind. If you know it don't give the game away just yet. It's all good fun innit, derek 04_DJ.mp3
  24. Charles & Shirley have gone to new homes, only Timi awaits a new owner. derek
  25. Anybody got anymore details on this Nugget label? cheers, derek Might have to start reducing Joe soon - oh well.
