Don't know what you lads are moaning on about - the label looks in pretty good nick to me hahaha.... At todays rate 400.00 US dollars = 260.01 British pounds sterling. Phew! How come these bidders never bid on my auctions (laughs). Must stop trying to sell records in Ex condition. That's where I'm going wrong. Stop it derek. Has anybody ever seen or heard of a "How" WDJ? Have replied to your PM Ted. Sorry for delay. derek

By gosh isn't it amazing what you find tucked away in boxes you didn't even know you had (coughs)..... Vaguely seem to recall purchasing this photo off Ebay well over 5 years ago. Seller described it something along the lines "unknown sixties black vocal group photo" - (I mean come on wouldn't that description make you get excited or what?). I assumed he'd stated unknown group because the photo was uncredited. And the description in his listing was very brief to say the least. The photo had been up on Ebay for about 4-5 days with no bidders - reason being I guess was even though the photo was interesting nobody wanted to lash out some money on something untitled. Anyway my curiosity made me contact the seller and ask if there was anything written on the back of the photo? His reply literally made my mouth drop open.... For a bit of a laugh on this rainy sunday afternoon I thought I'd post up this photo and ask if anybody knows who the group is? I do actually know who it is and I'll give out further clues as the day progresses. Intrigue and mystery a plenty right here on Soul Source. onwards, derek the man with a large binocular Oh and if you do know for certain who the group are - keep schtum for a bit whilst I rack up the tension hahaha.........

Should Debate Be Allowed On Sales Posts?
Derek Pearson replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
ClearVinyl "I'd say in general no comments on pricing in the sellers post but when there is a clear mistake or piss take that's when comments could be admissible". Chalky "as a general rule I say no comment but in the odd case a comment could be valid. Such cases could be if a price is wide of the mark by a fair bit or someone extracting the urine". Regalian "should comments on sales posts be allowed..... sure.....if they are constructive......" As my solicitor would say who decides whether somebody is taking the piss or not and whether comments are constructive or not... Simsy "We're not gagged chumps sitting on the fence here". Cunnie "Think everyones forgetting - It's a forum......." Correct . Soul Source is a live forum and anything posted up is in the public arena for all to view and discuss. And there's the key word discuss. Anybody that posts up on a live forum hopes to get positive replies but by the very nature of forums there's a chance that negative comments might come your way. That's the risk you take when posting on live forums - end of. Whether it is sound clips, photographs, events, threads or whatever. It's everybody's prerogative to reply be it good or bad if that's what they want. We all like the benefits of free advertising our sales on forums but with that freedom comes the downside risk of somebody nibbling at you. Locked threads could be the answer but that's not the issue here. And if you invert this thread "Why wouldn't you want anybody to post a negative comment if that's the way they felt". That's the real issue here as I see it. Soul.Inc "We've all been tempted to say what we really think..................................BUT you really are putting your head above the parapet to be shot at" True. But that's always been the case and always will be. Who was it that said "I don't like to hear what you're saying, but I'll always defend your right to say it". Time for tea, derek -

I know I'm biased as it was I who took the picture but I still think it is one of my favourites of all the pictures I've ever seen of the inside of the Casino. It gives you a great idea of how big the main room was and just how busy it was on those oldies nights. You might be thinking "thats a weird angle the photgraph was taken from" - well yes it was and I ain't seen many other photos taken from that position just below the ceiling looking from the left corner of the main room over the dance floor towards the record bar. It wasn't taken from the stage and nope I didnt have a handy pair of folding step ladders in my bag either. Outside the mens toilets in the corner to the left of the stage were a flight of wide steps leading upstairs up the balcony. And to stop people sliding down the banister or whatever they'd fixed some vertical bits of wood from the ceiling to the banister. Well one of those bits of wood just happened to be missing and being the proud owner of a 28" waist at the time I was able to squeeze through the gap, lean out as far as I could and take the picture whilst avoiding the infamous prowling door staff. Photo taken on one of those old manual Olympus Trip cameras. This time I've added my initials and date onto the photgraphs as I've seen copies of my previously uploaded photos all over the place especially on You Tube. I don't mind really as it was me that posted them up on a public forum in the first place and I haven't made them private or non downloadable. Now if I could only figure out how to earn some money from them...... onwards, derek

Found some more old photos tucked away in a box with some car insurance quotes. Posted 'em up 'cos I know people love to look at old photographs. Upstairs on the balcony leaning on the bar (which was situated sort of directly above the record bar) facing the stage. Was this upstairs bar ever open? On the left is Mister Nolan and on the right is 2 lads from the Northallerton/York area whose names I've completely forgot. Sorry chaps. Derek

Talk about threads running through alot of my photographs..... it's the same guilty faces that show up regularly, all that changes are the venues and the pages on the calender. Ronnie & Steve from Northallerton turn up again on the York Jaspers October 1980 photos. derek Er Rosemary I was hahaha -

Derek Pearson & guest DJ Mick Howard Shades Of Soul 21.00-22.00pm. Bradford Community Based Radio BCB106.6FM Blimey I've lost count of the number of times tonight's guest DJ has graced the airwaves of Bradford and beyond. It's the return of Mick Howard from Heywood into the surrounds of studio 2 - he's been here that often he's got a chair in the studio with his name on the back. And when he arrives at the station other staff members call out "Hey up Mick how's it going - are you having a coffee". As I get older I seem to get more and more things slightly confused especially with records an' stuff. Whereas he's the opposite - his mind and memory recall seems to get sharper hahaha......... Fasten your seat belts and await 60 minutes of the good groove. It could go anywhere and often does. Expect the weird. Expect the wonderful. And as usual if you're interested in hearing the show live there's 2 ways to go about it first try the good old 106.6FM frequency on your radio if you live within roughly 10 miles of the studio and secondly through the wonders of the world wide web www.bcbradio.co.uk Onwards, Derek All Era's. All styles. All over the place. And you know it. From out of Mick Howard's box of tricks came these twelve: Darrow Fletcher "What good am I" Jacklyn Chris Morgan "who am I" Bell The Nature Boys "watch yourself" Uptown Rudy Mockabee "sweet thing" Atco Ann Peebles "slipped, tripped, fell in love" UK London The Bronzettes "Beggin' Double Soul The Chaumonts "love is the thing "Bay Sound Frankie + the Damons "The man from soul" JCP Sue + Mel "Can't do without me" Star Track Archie Bell "real good feelin' " Phil International (LP track) Gary Bartz(feat Tawatha) "we must go on" Arista (LP track) Something New "You babe" Curtom Willie and the Handjives "Gotta find a new love" (edit) Veep Dee Pee's random selection of crackly vinyl 45s: Barbara Acklin “Just ain’t no love” Brunswick; Billy Butler “Sweet darling” Brunswick; Johnny Sayles “My love ain’t no love” Brunswick; Eddie Parker “I need a true love” Triple B; PJ Smith “Hold onto it” Shane; Johnny Davis “You got to crawl to me” Bandit; Deon Jackson “When your love has gone” Carla; Steve Mancha “I don’t want to lose you” Groovesville.

Derek Pearson and special guest Craig Butler Shades Of Soul 21.00-22.00pm. Bradford Community Based Radio BCB106.6FM If I sat down to work out which guest has appeared the most on this show I'm fairly certain top of the pile would be between two of my long term mates Mick Howard from Heywood and Craig Butler from Brighouse. Both own sizeable collections, both DJ all over the place and both are constantly buying more and more vinyl. And both of them must have done at least 6 to 8 sessions on BCB over the years. Mister Howard was guest first week in March so tonight see's the return of the man from just down the road. Expect the weird. Expect the wonderful. And that's just the guests... Derek Pearson and special guest Angus Oldfield from Barnsley Shades Of Soul 21.00-22.00pm. Bradford Community Based Radio BCB106.6FM For his first ever visit into a studio at BCB Radio we welcome tonight's guest Angus Oldfield from Barnsley. I've known him since at least the mid '90's and his philophosy on collecting records and indeed his taste in music is quite similar to mine. His playlist confirms his top end selections. Tonight's show is dedicated to an old mate of mine who I've known since the late '70s. You name a club from the last 30 years and there's a fair chance we went to it. Sadly he passed away quietly last week or so leaving behind a massive massive group of people who were pleased to call him their friend. Kyle Magill rest in peace where ever you are. We miss you. Derek Pearson and special guest Mister Robert Shades Of Soul 21.00-22.00pm. Bradford Community Based Radio BCB106.6FM Wasn't it Paul Weller's group The Jam that sung "It's a modern world" or summat? Due to a slight shift in scheduling at BCB Towers because of the Easter holidays, things were not what I thought they were suppoused to be. The show that DJ Killa guested on which we recorded for Saturday 20th March shifted and aired a week later on the 27th. Consequently Mister Robert's guest selection moved from Saturday 27th March to the 3rd April. Phew! Back on track. Returning for his third appearance on BCB in tonight's show we welcome back Mister Robert into Studio Three. He decided to dedicate his selection of records tonight to my pet dog Ruby (aka Spanker) and being the clever fellow he is - all his choices have a dog theme running through them. Expect the weird.
