  1. anybody seen this come up for sale recently & if so what would an orientative value be? cheers aye, mac.
  2. quite keen on bob wills. one of the first artists to merge white with black, long before presley. his western swing was big time dance music in the 40's.
  3. thanks anyway pete. date on label is 1972. I thought I didn't like 70's soul.
  4. was this done by warners? my esquires 'my sweet baby' black-fisted, multi-colured jobbie came in a warner bros sleeve. macca.
  5. how much should one expect to pay for one of these now? is the issue rarer than the promo etc; mac
  6. johnny come lately, new kid in town? london? wheel, torch, cats, va-vas, wigan 1968-1981 - 13 years (premature ejaculation) 100 club - 27 years (marathon shag) macca
  7. one of london's oldest pubs is nearby too, the george in borough high road. perfect for a pre nighter tipple. jacks is fantastic. the puuuurfect all-nighter venue in my book. I missed the final night(s) at wigan, so I feel pretty privileged to have attended the 100 club on december 9th last year. little did we know... ady, you were a gent that night. the warm welcome you extended by spanish friends warmed the cockles of my heart, I'll tell you. best of luck with the new venture. cheers M
  8. no, I'm being deadly serious. ask any linguistics boff. barking? two stops short of dagenham, innit?
  9. there could be a case for pronouncing it 'paymer'. consonant+dipthong+consonant+schwa according to english pronunciation rules (cough, cough), a double consonant usually indicates a short preceding vowel eg gamma... macca roccia: have you ever tried spanish jam³n iberico de bellota? you wouldn't buy parma ham again. oh' god, what have I said!?
  10. yeah, definitely brings 'you keep me hanging on' intro to mind. I think it's an extraordinary tune. just love that BIG sound. the charades 'key to my happiness' has it too. macca
  11. nice one des. isn't this compelling stuff? I'll negotiate on the cowbells then. :-)
  12. have we had a thread on common as muck uk general releases & dog rare US issues/promos? if the mello souls jobbie only saw light as an acetate, then surely the silent majority deserves a digitally remastered/laquered 48 track stereo remix with cow bells on it. come on, admit I'm right... macca
  13. great seeing you too steve. you've fairly convinced me mate but I ask you this: just because there are only a handful of copies in existence, does that mean non-UK residents will be forced to attend venues in the UK just to hear these sounds?
  14. they're not all bad, surely. I've had some very pleasant dealings with US sellers over the years. you can hardly blame them for getting wise, so to speak. northern soul/rare soul or whatever is no longer 'our baby', is it? changing times. I think they're quite a nice 'race'... macca.
  15. he must have seen the shipping costs in the article description. trying to cop out later is simply not on. I've bought several LPs from US sellers & have always paid an average of $12 airmail to spain. he's clearly in breach. hit the shite hard where it hurts.
  16. I love this sound. I bought john vincent's copy, still covered up as the milton wright band - downtown, then promptly lost the bugger due to being shit-faced. it was at a st.ives all dayer in 1979. haven't heard it since then. :-) macca
  17. I do, I do. & you're right, there's gotta be a down side to living out here & you just cracked it, no mello souls. I was at the london bridge all nighter 8th december, so I do get off my 'culo' from time to time.
  18. I'm neither tom, dick, nor harry. I'm macca. the scene will survive, I can assure you, believe me old boy... macca. ps - in negotiations with the bank manager should one come along. dream, dream, dream...
  19. shouldn't that be cockateel without the hyphens? we don't want to mislead anybody, do we? macca.
  20. sorry tony. just got carried away there. I see from the valencia all-nighter propaganda that you've got ray agee. just a pity it's 12 hours drive (or more) from me. I'd go just to hear that!! :-) macca.
  21. I request the mello souls & ray agee. those would go like hotcakes, surely. a tenner wouldn't be an outrageous sum to pay either. just the thought of them remixed/mastered from the masters is making me go all squiffy... come on! please say you will! :-)
  22. used to watch betty la fea over here. a spoof of a soap if I remember well. venezuela, colombia etc are famous for producing low budget soaps, with some truly hideous acting. some stunning sheilas in them though. something the british have in common with latin america, I'm referring to low budget soaps & hammy acting, obviously. macca spain
  23. as this sound is out of my price league, just wondered if it has seen a legit uk vinyl release? macca
