derek's in kettering for me. 1978 :-) a 3 tracker with billy arnell, larry clinton, betty fykes & the passions. tiempos felices, as they say here.

frances, cropped red hair, lovely smile, used to hang out with linda. we all went back to her gaff after a samson & delilah all-nighter, early 78. she cooked me egg bacon & sausage for breakfast. it didn't go down too well with the rest of the gang, all wasted & waiting for the pubs to open so they could 'kill off' the downer. I was going through a period of abstinence at the time. it didn't last long.

quite keen on bob wills. one of the first artists to merge white with black, long before presley. his western swing was big time dance music in the 40's.

one of london's oldest pubs is nearby too, the george in borough high road. perfect for a pre nighter tipple. jacks is fantastic. the puuuurfect all-nighter venue in my book. I missed the final night(s) at wigan, so I feel pretty privileged to have attended the 100 club on december 9th last year. little did we know... ady, you were a gent that night. the warm welcome you extended by spanish friends warmed the cockles of my heart, I'll tell you. best of luck with the new venture. cheers M

they're not all bad, surely. I've had some very pleasant dealings with US sellers over the years. you can hardly blame them for getting wise, so to speak. northern soul/rare soul or whatever is no longer 'our baby', is it? changing times. I think they're quite a nice 'race'... macca.

I love this sound. I bought john vincent's copy, still covered up as the milton wright band - downtown, then promptly lost the bugger due to being shit-faced. it was at a st.ives all dayer in 1979. haven't heard it since then. :-) macca
