  1. oo'er. I bought the record in question. never mind, it only cost 6 quid, & I guess it's an unusual item, being an 'original counterfeit' etc. M
  2. george jackson - soledad brother. definitely required reading. lord, lord, they cut george jackson down, lord, lord they laid him in the ground... M
  3. got this on a backbeat promo. just wondered what it was worth currently... best, macca
  4. thanks roccia. it's a conservative M- really. just a tiny bit of 'interference' on the run in groove.
  5. anybody know the current value of this please? EX+ promo with RCA sleeve.
  6. the bamberg do sounds really groovy. I think I'm gonna have to spread my wings, though if I do, it'll be to italy first, to one of roccia's events. this international soul scene is the dog's gonads in my opinion. my calender this year reads madrid in may, gij³n in august & valencia in october, all in this country admittedly, but they're pretty damned good here too, steve g & tony smith can vouch for that. M
  7. anybody have a current value for 'put your arms around me' on a M- copy?
  8. I've just received some records from thorsten & the guys in germany. I ordered four records from them. all of them in better condition than stated. they were placed in new white plain sleeves & then in new white cardboard sleeves. the package arrived within 48 hours, & inside it there were a couple of flyers for their hamburg weekender in october, plus three nifty lapel badges. I've been blown away quite frankly. oh' & their prices are excellent too. thanks guys!! check 'em out on www.puresoul.de you know it makes sense... best, macca.
  9. what about joe bataan's sax driven 'la botella' on salsoul? anyone got a soundfile of that? macca
  10. tut, tut... rarities steve, they're called rarities, rarezas en espa±ol, vale? & sod babelfish... M
  11. had forgotten how good a track that was & worth watching for the crowd. apart from the loon doing the splits, there seems to be a lot of 'robotic' moves going down too. what was that all about? the influence of star wars perhaps? M
  12. I'm not proficient enough on the guitar to work out the chord sequence of a song, as I'm a strictly CFAmGG7 merchant. I do remember a very drunken rendition of 'long after tonight is all over' in a pub garden in peterborough once though. it was fun.
  13. thanks sebastian. how much would the mucher cheaper demo be then, approx? macca.
  14. Is it really the same bloke? I've always thought the vocal on 'This Man' was great. Imagine Wally Cox dubbing a vocal on Paul Anka's I Can't Help Loving You.
  15. Anybody got any info on Check It Baby? Label scans, rarity, value etc? Cheers, Macca.
  16. I've always thought that babelfish was a crock of shite. Here's a more accurate translation. Martin Barnfather, known artistically as Soul Sam, is said to combine the most obscure Northern Soul with Modern Soul rarities from the 70's & early 80's. An essential part of any Soul event in the UK, he left the gang dumbstruck/blew the gang away last year. Nowt about peculiarities, thankfully!! M
  17. cracker! just picked one up for $8. thanks! macca
  18. what exactly do you mean, apart from the bit about sam looking good? maybe 15 years in the country has undermined my grasp of plain english. M
  19. of that you can be sure. they love the old dubbing here. felix has a mole in the TV company. expect something on youtube shortly.
  20. I dunno, whaplode drove & tilney all saints sound quite romantic to me.
  21. if you asked the average spaniard where caithness was, I'm sure it would also draw blanks, but for those interested... the spanish northern coast, left to right:- galicia - asturias - cantabria - basque country barcelona can also be considered northern spain, but it's on the mediterranean side. end of geography lesson, back to soul music. love, macca.
  22. 'negotiations' are already underway to obtain the clip. stand by. mike: asturias is god's country in every sense of the word. I'd recommend it any day, & sleazy-jet fly to avils/oviedo from stansted I think. northern 'green' spain at its best. macca (spanish tourist board official)
  23. will try & get hold of clip. felix will know where to look, I'm sure... M
  24. yeah, but part of the thread refers to the kind of records 'divs' appreciate. someone mentioned kiki dee & I called it proto-carpenters, which I still think is a fair description. my loathing of the carps is second only to my loathing of patrick bradley. even jambalaya by them is better than old patrick.
