I like to see well thought out, innovative promotional blurb. It all depends who you're trying to attract, doesn't it? I remember a mate of mine on here sending me a postcard in the early 2000's with a photo of Tommy Navarro on the front, advertising a Scenesville event, I think. The names on the DJ roster (do we still use that word?) were convincing enough and the word of mouth factor, i.e. my mate telling me I should do one of the these nights the next time I'm over would have clinched it. Someone mentioned the Spanish events.There are some beautiful examples of these in the flyer gallery. Barcelona, after London perhaps, is Europe's foremost advertsing & PR capital and home to some of the most successsful agencies in the world. It's hardly a surprise that some of that creativity presents itself in the promotion of international gatherings like Gijon's EuroYeYe & S.O.U.L. The Madrid Magic Soul Weekender/SMART Club have splendid flyers too. One of the DJs is a creative for the company that handles the Diageo (Guinness) account, so it must rub off. The Italians are also very good at it, in my opinion. You might call it a window on the ethos of the club in question. Fat sweaty blokes with beer towells and right on the torch badges is a 'political' statement, so is a picture of the Tommy Navarro and his ice-cream cone hairdo. I'm all for it.

Fab record. There are a couple of soundclips out there, one considerably slower than the other. Did jocks soup it up years ago to suit Wigan era dancefloors?

Certainly not in my case, some of them I've sold for considerably less than what I paid for them. If on top of that you get rogered backwards at the post office, then you're onto a loser, big time. I only realised when I got home, so totally my fault. I was charged E27.20 for 4 packages. 3 of them contained 1 record & one contained 3 records. Too late to check now 'cos they went via standard post. Whinge, whinge, whinge...

I remember it for the wrong reasons. I sold off a load of very good records there, all 'priced to sell' (sorry pete), as it were. I literally gave them away in retrospect. Never mind, I have to say that though I only went once, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was 1992/3 & I'd just moved to Spain, thinking... what use am I gonna have for these old records over there? How wrong I was!! Was this the membership card?

Why do a lot of people hate James Coit? The arrangement, the vocal, the sentiments of the song?

I sold the first one, a VG+ about six months ago for around 200US. Top sound, not everybpdy's taste though. Big on the psych scene here too...

I sold one not so long ago for 50 poinds. Great track, great label & the flip's a killer too.

I'd like to know what the the continental lot think about this. They seem to welcome the old duffer brigade & they still hire the odd 'mature' British deejay for their well established events. The Euroyeye Gij³n, Soul For Real Bilbao, S.O.U.L Weekender Gij³n, Magic Soul Weekender Madrid & SS member Albert Petit's Valencia All-Nighters in Spain all spring to mind.
