  1. Yes, this record was often referred to as the 'fourth before eight'
  2. Sorry, should just stress my interest in a label is currently hypothetical. But its something I would love to do.
  3. Not heard of Vinyl Carvers, whats the angle there?
  4. Yes, appreciate that. Working as always, on the basis that if you throw enough mud at the wall some of it will stick
  5. I've recently been giving some thought to the economics of running a small, legal record company, something along the lines of Joe Boy, Grapevine 2000 & Hayley etc Assuming that you can purchase the rights to a track at reasonable cost, find a pressing plant interested, how difficult is to get a distribution deal? What length of run would you be looking at to reach a break even point & is there an average run? I'm assuming that the economics in the long term don't stack up. Thanks for looking. Col.
  6. Totally agree there Baz. Bad news sells.
  7. Brilliant record, always in my box, never play it, not sure why? col.
  8. You are up north! Just thought you should know
  9. I can see where Quinvy is going with this one. But I'd still suggest publishing play lists. My reasoning is: I've just seen an oldies play list & thought - glad I didn't go there, because I knew every record too well. After 30 odd years on & off the scene I'm looking for a few fresh records. When I'm looking at play lists I like to see a fair proportion of records I don't know sitting along side records that I do know. Publish & be damned. Nobody is being forced to read them. Col.
  10. Nice selection there Flo
  11. Jessie James - Love Is Alright Willie & Mighty Magnificents - Check It baby Bobby Womack - Home Is Where The Heart Is Carl Sims - I'm Sending You Back To Him Carl Gilbert - Crying Heart Sorry, no real explanations.
  12. I think Norfolk as a county could be improved by picking it up & moving it 100 miles or so to the east.
  13. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit............
  14. Not a chance. That box was chosen after careful consideration & rejection of the many other containers that were available at the time. The northern soul box has is well crafted, cherished and offers an unequalled level of user satisfaction. Col 'The Box' Smith
  15. Thanks Miff & Sebastian for posting up sounds. Obviously, not all pain is bad for you.
  16. Hi Gareth, No. As usual you are one step ahead of me. I'd love to hear that - sound file anyone? Don't know that one either! Col ps Enjoyed your set at Bisley
  17. I think you'll find it was on Nightmare
  18. ...........its a tough old world out there. Col
  19. Everytime I play 'Garland Green - Come Through Me' it causes me serious internal pain. Turn the volume up & the pain gets worse. I'm in trouble & taking on heartache. Whats currently hurting you? Col.
  20. The Millionaires - And The Rains Came
  21. Bit of a weird one this. Rare soul played at funerals. When a friend of mine died we played Garnet Mimms - Looking For You. Which is such a really sad, soulful record. If you haven't recently listened to the lyrics I would recommend it. Although I haven't given it an awful lot of thought, I might go for something a little bit lighter. Maybe......The Drifters - Up On The Roof? Over to you... Col. 16 Up On The Roof.mp3
  22. I promise to look into the subject.
  23. Just spotted it mate. Absolute belter. I live for crap this like this! Rock on Col
  24. Cheers Rich. I am enjoying it, really made me smile. Its completely bonkers.
