  1. Four Tops Vs Temptations Who's the best - too close to call? Watch the video. Its excellent. May help, but probably won't. Col Appreciate its a totally pointless contest, but have you seen whats on TV? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgzM4trbSkY
  2. Quite a lot of them turned up down south in odd record shops, may have issued on sale or return.
  3. I recently cherry picked a collection & left about a dozen Grapevine there. They were at the more common end of the range. Seller wanted about £2.50 each for them. If anybody is interested in them PM me & i'll try to sort it. Col.
  4. A few more examples would be nice Simon.
  5. Alcohol. Its the only drug that I'm aware of that actually makes people violent. The only reason that its socially acceptable is that its been around so long and is taxed at source. There's a great deal of hypocrisy in people sounding off about amphetamines whlist banginging back their 4th pint of Stella
  6. Anyone remember this? What you think? Old Yate track? Ever get played these days? Col. 12_Bits_N_Pieces___Keep_Running_away.mp3
  7. Blimey! Don't shoot the messenger! Col. Hey, did you know that in Roman times a messenger might actually be executed if his message was deemed to be bad news? I'll get me chariot............next stop Oxford St, Londinium...........or bust.
  8. I can only speak as I find. Never seen or known any body doing speed on a normal soul night.
  9. I think you are going off on a tangent here Pete. Firstly - there is no real evidence of any drugs being taken at the venue in question. Secondly - nobody, on the scene would takes speed for a 2 am finish.
  10. Full marks for the chinos, loafers, TM & JB Assume there was the odd Lacoste polo shirt in there too. Bit confused about the Capuccinos...real soul boys would not stop shop of a double espresso Col Nope. Nuff said.
  11. Eh? Sounds like a contradiction in terms. Did Style Council/Blow Monkeys Soul boys exist?
  12. If you'd danced in the bogs with Wham.....that would have been a great story!
  13. Didn't realise the scale of it. I stand corrected.
  14. Surely this is one isolated incident featuring a nut that writes letters badly. I don't want to make light of it, but its not a general reflection of the scene.
  15. Casino Classics.......?
  16. It gets worse....... Ive just found the 12" Casino re-mix. No kidding. SF227604_01_02_02.mp3
  17. I think the Acid Jazz label are behind this collabration. Which is weird as the guy who runs it IS a soul fan.
  18. I didn't know he did The Face and am somewhat surprised. Yes he must have had some clout then. These days he rattles on like a little old lady. I still have the Northern Soul article from The Face......1982 ish? Derek, yes good for 100 Club. Looking fwd to it. Am booking Monday off work
  19. Robert Elms went on a public speaking training session. The crux of which was "tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em, tell 'em it & then tell 'em what you've already told 'em" Repeat ad nauseam.
  20. Thanks for the warning!
  21. Alright there Derek! Well, here it is. What you think? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not a fan. SF227604_01_01_01.mp3
  22. When you booked Colin Bee, you might get Les or you might get his mate, who was I think Colin Berkinshaw? Les supplied the records & the Colin Bee Roadshow. Colin Berkinshaw? just fronted it sometimes. Colin once told me that he didn't really like northern!
  23. Robert Elms is a DJ on Radio London who really gets on my pip. He is very fond of his own voice, but comes across as one of the lads. Bit of a geezer. Also puts him self about as a bit of a an expert on sub cultures of days gone by. To re-inforce his credibility he plays a bit of soul/funk. Today he played Lord Large featuring Dean Parrish - 'Left Right & Centre' A record he descibed as 'mighty.' Sorry having trbl posting link from Radio London site. But its the worst crock of shite you ever heard. Worse than anything in Ken's collection. Col.
  24. "To be is to do"--Socrates. "To do is to be"--Jean-Paul Sartre. "Do be do be do"--Frank Sinatra Any help? Col.
