  1. You tell me. You come up with something better.
  2. My advice is to purchase a copy of "Is it me or is everything shit?" Time Warner Books £9.99 Should put things in perspective & its a cracking read.
  3. Just a small point, But.... Following is from Northampton week-ender web site "BIG NEWS!! - THE FIRST ACT CONFIRMED FOR WEEKENDER 3 MOTOWN LEGENDS - THE ELGINS" "YES!! THE ELGINS WILL BE MAKING THEIR FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE UK FOR OVER 25 YEARS!" I think that the last statement is incorrect, I'm sure that I saw them 10-15 years ago at a week-ender in Torbay? With Yvonee Vernee on lead. Having said that I'll probably go again in 2007..... Any idea where/when the following was shot?....https://youtube.com/watch?v=AhDRQp82lcw It looks good. Col
  4. Don't think it would scan too well. Type is white out of grey. Its all a bit sublime, references to site members being drama queens, failed record dealers & bullied at school.
  5. Sorry to be the one to break it to you, you're in it. Yes, I know it feels more like a pantomine.
  6. Oi cloth-ears, what part of "Just been handed Winter 06 copy of n.soul mag" didn't you understand
  7. Just been handed Winter 06 copy of n.soul mag. Lead article is called 'Curse of the chat room' by Jan Crowell. Its basically an out and out rant against northern soul internet chat rooms. Its a hatchet job! There is a pop at chat room site operators, moderators and contributors. Made up scenarios & made up quotes abound from Jan. What a terrible journalist she must be. Actually the made up quotes are quite funny, but you have to take note that she chose to rely on her own made up quotes that real ones. n.soul is published by Kev Roberts who was a member of this site until recently, when he resigned. Personally I think he was well treated and probably enjoyed his time whilst here, but something must have upset him......... Col.
  8. Recently received modern soul comp which was pretty rare apart from 2 tracks Pillow Talk by Sylvia & Fool by Al Matthews(..I think.) Not heard either for ages. Think you may like them Paul.
  9. Thats a fair & accurate description. Situation (for some people) in late 70s was a bit out of control though. Some people never made it through the front door !
  10. Not so much closed the door, more like pulled the ladder up. Me And Mr Jones......absolute pants Tears Dry On Their Own.......excellent. No sitting on the fence today.
  11. "While some of us discuss labels, run out grooves, jocks playing cd;s and that venues that resemble sports halls there are many out there like my mates who just "keep on keepin on" unaware of the backstabbing sh--it that has encapsulated our scene." I'm out most week-ends & can honestly say that I'm unaware of most of the back stabbing stuff. Not wishing to climb up the NS social ladder def helps. As does having a short attention span
  12. Whats the most expensive British NS record ever sold? What do you think might be the most expensive British NS record if it were ever sold at todays prices?
  13. I think I'm close to Mikey's opinion on this one......confused. Situation doesn't look good for Kev Roberts, so why would he issue these details? It sort of defies logic. Col. Mikey its not your milk they are after, its the fridge magnets. I recently sold an owl shaped 'Northern Noise" magnet for £200.
  14. 1. In Wigan days it was 90% The Beat 10% The Soul These days, its still the same Northern Soul scene, but now its 90% The Soul, 10% The Beat. 2. Northern Soul & golf. Bet you've never seen the two in the same sentence before. Personally I'm not sure that they should ever be so placed. I've never seen golf mentioned on here before & I think it may be the antithesis of northern soul. I should admit to a personal interest here......I dislike golf, golfers & golf clubs. Maybe golf is too much for my socialist, working class roots to bear, whereas Northern soul eases the pain. 3. Attended 100 Club anniv. recently and watched Keb Darge (who I don't know) doing some amazing acrobatic dancing. The man is as fit as a fiddle.Hanging around him for periods of time were fully paid up members of the Northern Soul soul police. People who I know abhor anybody wearing a vest. Something to do with too much flesh being shown & 70s northern fashion trends. Keb had dispensed with all his clothes up top, but the same people who can't stand people wearing a vest were fawning all over him. Is that a paradox or just plain old double standards? Feel free to either add, agree or argue. Col
  15. Always like to add 'Sherry & The Trifles' myself
  16. Q. Do you know what I miss about SS these days? Ans. The short but very happy period when you were banned.
  17. Apologies if already been covered but check out https://www.djhistory.com/ Amongst other things there is some fairly lengthy interviews with a few of our own.... Ian Levine, Ian Dewhirst & 'Farmer' Carl Dene Happy reading.
  18. Well done Shane. I'm sure its been a bit of a thankless task at times. Take a bow
  19. Personal insults are out of order. I had the courtesy to give you a straight reply to your question, whereas you chose not to reply to mine. No wish to PM you & no real wish to make further posts. I have drawn my own conclusion from this, as others probably have too.
  20. Silence.mp3
  21. So if this had happened to you, you would have flagged it up like SITC01 Yes or No?
  22. No. I don't have any issues with him. Thanks to this thread I am forewarned about doing any future business with him. I have more of an issue with your flippant post "Ah the old mob mentality, that's how to make a new member feel welcome alright" Smiley or no smiley. If you felt that a new member had ripped you off, then offered goods for sale on here, what would your response have been?
  23. Pot, kettle, black. A number of your posts on here have concerned you getting ripped off by dealers/sellers. No way would you make allowance just because somebody had joined SS. When your average guy joins SS he is invariably welcomed. If ,however, people bring lots of baggage to the party, thats another story.
