  1. Not really. Although if you'd seen me DJing in Aldershot earlier tonight you'd have thought otherwise.
  2. Whats lurking at the back of your your play box, but if you're honest you'll never get around to playing it out. Here's a couple of mine for starters Major Lance - Rhythm - Okeh Picture Cover, stunning looking record but never been tempted to play it out. Spooky & Sue - I've Got The Need Picture Cover, same again lovely record, but can't ever see me playing it. Four Tops - Walk With Me Talk With Me Darling - UK Motown Demo, truly awful record but I just like it there. Something about green & white demos, just easy on the eye. Col.
  3. Maybe they should have chosen something a little more apt, how about Jay & The Techniques - Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie or The 5 Royales - Catch That Tea maybe even Gerri Granger - I Go To Pies
  4. Great choice of films, 2 of my favourite 3 Poor use of geography, you are in fact, up there
  5. Recently picked up the prequel to Carlitos Way. Although the film got panned by the critics, I thought it was enjoyable. It was helped by an excellent soundtrack.....soulful, funky, staxy sort of thing. Looked for it on web but can't find track listing! Anything else out there you'd recommend ie good film and soulful soundtrack? Col.
  6. Should be posting it up on Wednesday. Most people will find it quite amusing, tho no doubt 1 or 2 people will have a sense of humour failure.
  7. Just played James Fountain - Seven Day Lover Was there ever a better record that crossed the gap between funk & northern?
  8. Seriously though, when it comes to cheap tacky rubbish.........I'm you're man. Currently working on a designn for the worlds first modern soul patch. Will post details later in week. I'm not kidding.
  9. I have it on good authority that Tim does not sell his underpants.
  10. Very funny. I liked that post.
  11. Just in case anybody comes up with Flower Shoppe - You've Come A Long Way Baby........Poison Ivy.
  12. Maybe you can help me.... Where did you get that flat cap that you were wearing at Camberley? Did it come with a free whippet?
  13. Orf the top of me 'ed, I'd say.....Undisputed Truth You+Me=Love.
  14. Seven Souls - I Still Love You......Still sounds as fresh as a daisy, (but its really an orchid) Eddie Garrigan - I Wish I Was.....Pleasant enough, but no longer in full bloom Gene Chandler - I Can Take Care Of Myself......A perrennial shrub Beverly Ann - You've Got Your Mind On Other Things.......Well past Tescos sell by date Cody Michaels - Seven Days Fifty Two Weeks.......Fertilizer
  15. Neither am I, but recently I've noticed that it isn't as good as it used to be.
  16. The dancer has no rhythm whatsoever. Awful.
  17. Haven't done any all nighters in the last 6 months due to health reasons. So what have I missed in terms of tunes? Whats getting played much more now than wasn't a year ago? Any sound files would be appreciated... My interest in this was sparked when a mate was flicking through my record box and pointed out that Syng McGowan - Loneliness Is A Pleasure has increased in value quite a bit recently and is now (after 25 years) a big tune. I was shocked, is he right? Another mate was flicking through the box and also picked out that one, noting that Chalky was playing the flip side - Just In The Nick Of Time at Lifeline. Its on the slow side but absolute quality. Whilst not wishing to massage Chalkys ego too much maybe the record has increased in price due to the flip side being played. Thanks in advance Col ps I'm going to give Syng McGowan a spin tonight in Aldershot, so expect the price to plummet soon.
  18. Its really good to hear nobody bitching about The Futures & Gayle Adams. I always knew that you, the chattering classes, were way too hard on both those little gems.
  19. I'm sure that howling is just one small evolutionary step back from whistling.....
  20. If you're having that, I'm having Janice by Skip Mahoney. Thats got a bloke in it who thinks he's a wolf.
  21. Paris Blues just depresses me. I'd replace it with Garland Green - Come Through Me.
  22. Yes, its closer to Country & Western.
  23. I think that Duke of Wellington is now viewed by history, less as a national hero, more a mass murderer. Your case is somewhat flawed.
  24. Don't forget Huggy Bear, classic 70s icon and mincy shuffling is under rated. I'll give you some lessons. Apologies Rachel, couldn't get the Refo Soul format working on saturday.....couldn't even find an option for uploading files in that way. Will try harder next time.
