  1. I'm not sure either but the post script is a promotion for a Kev Roberts web site. Kev produced the Top 500 book.
  2. Reminds me of a broom I once owned for several years, only 3 new heads & 4 new handles. Damn thing went on for ever.
  3. Is there a BW biography? Thanks in advance.
  4. Not sure if this counts.... Soul Sam has def stopped me from nodding off. Couple of years back at Soul Essence, decided to call it an early-ish night. But, our room was directly over the decks/speakers - so we had no option but to listen to Soul Sam. I have had worse nights.
  5. Tate was never the same after the break-up from Lyle.
  6. Oh the injustice of it all. The americans get ANGELA DAVIES and one of the best soul albums ever made. and we get FREE GEORGE DAVIS, a load of grafitti and another bank robber let of jail. Hey ho.
  7. Protest Songs aren't ideally suited to to the northern soul genre, which could at times be simplified down to "she loves me/she loves me not" But are there any good 60s stomper protest songs? Please no mention of James Coit Appreciate there are loads of 70s with maybe Al Wilson - Be Concerned right near the top for me. Al doing some sterling work making up for past misdemeanours? Whats your favourite.....stand up & be counted......vote with your fingers now! ps Currently listening to Sly & The Family Stone - Family Affair. Not really a protest song, but what a tune!
  8. You could hear the beats pound As they stomped across the ground And the claps from their hands As they spun round and round And he galloped into Station Road His badge upon his blazer, his pint of milk upon the stage His name was Ernie And he was the fastest stomper in the north Until that nasty business with Two Ton Ted from Teddington
  9. Shurely shome mishtake. That was 'Terrible' Tom from Tooting.
  10. Pics in frames don't do them justice IMO. Get down to your local print shop & have them laminated & mounted to 5mm foamex So much better,
  11. £209 for a poster?
  12. Moldie would be running Soul Source
  13. The first ever house record?
  14. In the absence of grit, I believe salt adds traction.
  15. A mate of mine has an m- copy for sale £100 If interested pls pm me & I will give you his mobile.
  16. Hmm that would my e-mail address! What a plonker I am. Try this https://web.mac.com/soulsmith
  17. Here you go literally just finished it. soulsmith@mac.com As I put it together on a mac I'd appreciate a bit of feed back to how it looks/loads on a pc
  18. Surprised to see Clifton Hall doing quite well. A venue that I haven't got a clue about. Be interested to hear a bit more about it. Maybe it a 'Clifton hall' thread would make a good read?
  19. Cheers for the offer, but my wife reminds me I'm currently taking a break
  20. Sounds a bit harsh. I thought it was quite interesting. Maybe I should get out a bit more often?
  21. I did think about putting Yate in, but Yate was no more important that say Peterborough, Coalville etc. To include them all would have sort of diluted the poll.
  22. Assuming that we can all agree Wigan was the most important venue to the scene, what was the second most important venue? I've revised the poll to include Stafford & a few others
  23. If you want to organise a different poll with different venues, I'm happy to close/lock this thread. Its no big deal to me.
  24. Yes Kings Hall, Stoke Didn't say or want 'ground breaking' wanted 'important' to scene Good point about Stafford, again maybe mods can add?
