  1. Please help me get a little bit of perspective here..... what percentage of the £13.99 re-issue cd actually goes to the artist? Say there were 20 different artists on the n/soul cd & the cd was an 'average' seller. In dollars what might that artist expect to receive? I'm not joining in the argument I'm just curious. Just read through the above thread again, I think Pete S may well have been libeled.
  2. Are women better dancers than men?...thats an interesting one! Certainly know who Karen & Emma are off the above list & enjoy watching them dance, regret don't know the others. Women are certainly much better to watch visually, but I really don't know if they are actually better dancers. Purely in the pursuit of knowledge, I'd be happy to go head to head, toe to toe with any female dancer Saturday nite Bollocks I've just remembered I'm not going as I'm trying to get a bit of balance in my life. Totally agree with Dave's comments above. But its still possible to over cook the scene. The expression 'too much of a good thing' sums it up for me right now.
  3. There are chubby people on the n/s scene? next you'll be saying there's a glut of baldies Winnie:-) Never spotted that before, still I do spend all nite looking for my balance. Maybe those fat baldies had it all the time
  4. "ive seen u dance soulsmith my bank balance is better then your dancefloor balance u r to dancing as david blunkett is to site seeing" I sort of understand the above, but just in the spirit of fair play I'm going to buy you a dictionary for Christmas. They have one in the 'Special Needs' shop down the road, its even got big pictures in it for you. Although looking at the above pic of your house, there's a limit to where you can stick it
  5. This is definate misuse of furniture and I'm pretty angry about it. The chair will need years of therapy. Karen although having terribly abused a bar stool herself will not be happy either. Still Pipkins, thats a tough break Northern Soul AND chubby chasing! Tried combing the two?
  6. Listen here Pipkins - or whatever ur name is* Its too easy to spot me dancing, my entourage is always visible, St Johns Ambulance, Paramedics and represenatives from Claims Direct. No I wiil not be going to Luton, because I have balance in my life. Unlike my dancing where I have no balance whatsover. *I bet you saw a lot of Norman Wisdom film in the 70's!
  7. Winnie, I think the Furniture Liberation Front should pay a visit to Mr Pipkins house. What furniture he has left clearly is in some need of liberation. There could be someone we know under that lot
  8. I can see from the pic that the scene is not exactly ruining ur love life. In fact ur house looks rather full up at the mo.
  9. Yes, a little lesson there - dont drink & type. Regret not likely to make Saturday. Not even the thought of you liberating furniture can tempt me. Nearly said something else then, glad I didn't! Back to the original question - Does The Scene Run Your Life. I'm gonna try really, really hard not to go Saturday - get some balance back in my life. If you see me Saturday I've failed miserably & the scene does run my life. Its Wed eve & I reckon I've got a reasonable chance......
  10. just read what i've just written! meant to say "bar stools are for sitting on"
  11. "Hi ya, I normally drive and not drink (I know apart from Sat!! - but I wasnt driving - only people round the bend! ) but I dont need to get pissed, in fact, I just cant dance when I am (which I also proved Sat!) I just enjoy dancing and seeing friends, probably would have to get pissed if on a different scene to blend in more!" Hi Karen........Enjoyed your company saturday nite. So what if you were a bit tipsy! Just like to point out though, bar stools are sitting on!!
  12. Winnie:-) I'm a bit (if pleasantly) surprised at the amount of posts against talc. Are there no regular talc users on list....just to redress the balance? Not looking to have a "heated debate", just an informed one Well far be it for me to chuck the odd gallon of petrol on the flames, but couldn't resist this............ "cordon off a section of the floor, cover it with Velcro and take a good supply of zimmer frames to hand and leave stiletto shoes at home.....if you ban talc this will probably be ok for the drinker who only has the odd dance when inebriated......if talc is banned......replaced by the trainer/heavy shoe & handbag gang......Keep The Faith, Keep The Talc. Just a few phrases plucked from a letter in 'On the Scene' mag. Hope that redresses the debate.
  13. "Thy Will Be Done" - Eddie Carlton "Santa Claus Please Listen To Me" - Artie Fullilove

  16. Now that we have the book 'Who The Hell Is Frank Wilson' all that remains is to publish 'How To Clap On The Off Beat' Surely its just a matter of time.
