  1. I borrowed one off I think Tommy Allinson in 74 ish. His number was 22. Paul
  2. You Got To Play The Blues
  3. Soccer To Em JB!!! Paul
  4. I don't get out too much nowadays, so I don't know if it still gets played, but I love it. https://youtu.be/uJ4h1rFgx2Y
  5. I was quite suprised a couple of years ago when a Wigan 1974 "live" CD was doing the rounds. It was the one with Footsee, The Zoo, Tainted Love etc, all very well known tracks except one I didnt really remember, and to me, stuck out like a good sore thumb. The track was Kenny Ballard, I'm Losing You. Not brilliant, but better than many of the other tracks. Paul
  6. Don't think it has been mentioned yet, but Shep, "Fool To Fool" was forgotten for a long time before being reactivated. Paul
  7. Original UK issue as a track on the Action Packed Soul album on Action!!!!! Awsome record, one of my favourites & real old school northern! Paul
  8. That would be the "Bristol Mods" seen around some Scooter Rallys like the Isle Of Wight, taking their Christmas tree styled scooters out of vans. Definately of the comedy re enactment type. Paul
  9. Although playing "pop" records reached new levels at the Casino, if you go back to the Wheel with things like Human Beinz Nobody But Me, Round Robin Kick That Little Foot Sally Ann, Frankie Valli You're Ready Now, Newbeats Run Baby Run & numerous Spencer Davis and Mitch Ryder tracks. The Torch with Bobby Paris Personally, Ray Whitley/Guy Darrell I've Been Hurt, etc it was going on long before Wigan opened as a "Soul" venue. Paul
  10. Sammy & Grant & their mob. A bunch not to be messed with. One of their crew held a flick knife in my side and accused me of selling chalkies!!! he went away when I totally denied it & gave him a quid note. Good job he didn't search me, cash in one pocket, and the other pocket full of white oval gut rot medication! Paul
  11. Mecca originally covered up by Ian Levine as Patience Valentine, You Can't Tell The Good Guys From The Bad. Paul
  12. I thought the inst to Skiing In The Snow was found to be the Wigans Abortion backing track. I may be wrong though. Paul
  13. The instrumental was certainly played in the 70s. Could never understand why the vocal never took off. Paul
  14. Did hear a story many years ago that someone(Sam?) played it covered as Morning Of The Monkey!!!!! Paul
  15. I was going to say that 1975 & I believe the Tymes were on. I think the second one was cancelled! Paul
  16. How about Ain't It baby Kenny Gamble. https://youtu.be/UNlAcL_MsyQ Paul
  17. Sold my records 5 or 6 years ago, and was very suprised at the bidding frenzy on my Salvadors 70s boot that went for 82 quid. Paul
  18. Haven't got a picture of them, but I remember in 1971 finishing my paper round and getting the last pair of 5 and a halfs in the sale. They were the bollox. Been trying to find something similar for years. I think Loakes do some. Got some nice similar looking shoes last birthday, UK made oxblood DMs. Paul
  19. You are wise Master.
  20. It did have the instructions, " you jump up and down and you turn around, bend your knees half way down to the ground". If I remember correctly Paul
  21. Every time Kab Darge is a talking head on one of these documentaries, he trots this Kung Fu statement out. It may be his opinion, but it makes me cringe every time I hear it. Its bollox as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion though. The TV series made KF popular was broadcast in 73/74. Paul
  22. You know when you just pick up anything you find in junk shops, here's one of my buys. Good looking bloke that Andre!. Paul
  23. I think that was the point in the film, The young wannabe DJ was swearing & abuseing the punters, that's why Ray Henderson didn't want him on the decks. I used to get abusive when there was an empty dance floor(after a few beers!), I'd put something like E Rodney Jones, "R & B time" on and say things like "if you can't dance, here one with the feckin' instructions on"!!!! Of course it was all in jest. Paul
  24. Reminds me of Nothing But A Heartache. Oh, but without the singing. Paul
  25. I liked Texan Bars " sure are a mighty chew"!!! Paul
