  1. My Mum (god rest her) must have been a fan at one time, because for what must have been my 6th( around '64 ish) birthday she bought me the EP 24 Hours From Tulsa. perhaps it had some subliminal message, because one of the other tracks was "Mecca", and I went there a few times. Anyway, to continue posting a few "Pop" tracks as I have been recently here is Possibly Genes finest "Northern" hour Gene Pitney RIP Paul
  2. When there was regular soul night in Pompey about 10 years ago, my Mrs mate worked behind the bar. She described it as " a load of old men dancing with each other" Paul
  3. Had a white(demo) cat called Mirwood. My first born son is called Lee David(he's now 24) Paul
  4. Hello mate . This is obviously a different Bobby Bennet than the one from Junior Showtime & You're Ready Now Fame Paul
  5. Definately one of my favourite versions Freddie_Scott_open_the_door.mp3 Paul
  6. I haven't heard the Radio 4 thing yet, the replay on the website apears to be playing another one. But reading through the general posts on this subject, there doesn't apear to have been many drug users at the Casino or the scene in general. Perhaps that's why I got paranoid so often. 2,499 people were obviously pointing at me saying "about the drug problem on the Northern scene, There he is". Thank feck everyone has grown out of it now. Paul
  7. I'm sure I saw Supercharge Live in Ormskirk in about 75/76 I'm sure it was on the same bill as Mac & Katie Kissoon , at Edge Hill College I think. Feck knows what I was doing there, apart from drinking. Paul
  8. Always loved it from the first time I heard it in 73. I don't know if it was played much prior to Wigan, anyone know.? Paul
  9. Even got pressed/reissued around 1975 Silver label? Paul
  10. Yeh, I mentioned it above, Karl Evans "Ooh Wee Let It Be Me" Paul
  11. Oops, I missed the above post some how. Don't actually like Cajun Hart, but do like Louise Lewis, Vocal & instrumental, and the Karl Evans(Arin Demain) Version (Oo wee Let it Be Me Babe). All big in their day around mid 1974. Paul
  12. I'd disagree about the Watts Band being a terrible version. It was the only version I have known for 33 years, and it was quite a big sound at one time. I do like the Zu Zu Band version though. First time I've heared it. Paul
  13. That is pretty surreal. I like it in a Ska/blue beat/rocksteady kinda way. Paul
  14. Always liked this in a poptastic sort of way. I believe it got a few plays in the Torch era ish Tom_Jones_Stop_Breaking_My_Heart.mp3 Paul

  19. Got to agree with Tower Of Power. This one also does it for me. Intruders.mp3 Paul
  20. My first born (now 24) is called Lee David, named after the Temptations Calling My Name artist. He doesn't talk to me nowadays. (My daughter Mitch Ryder And The Detroit Wheels doesn't talk to me either) Paul
  21. Just an emidisc album that were kicking around at the time. Not sure if they were done by Pete Lawson or Keith Bradley or one of the many purveyers of this sort of thing. Paul
  22. Maybe, but there is also too much pointless politics, name calling, & slagging off. It's supposed to be a discussion forum, but many good discussions degenerate into crap. As for double standards, bootlegs are frowned upon, but it's alright if one DJ "cuts an acetate" of a rarity for another to play, we used to call them emidiscs. Just my, probably wrong, opinion though. The DVDs were great Pete. Paul
  23. Must make my album with the mega in demand Wigan instrumental "Land Of 1000 Dances" worth £500 of anyones money Paul
  24. I don't believe this record exists. "Leicester Tipton" Must be a cover up name thought up by a midlands DJ. Paul
  25. Wasn't it one of simple simons Earl Wright Cover Ups Road to Ruin? Paul
