Thank god for that I wondered where she'd gone

If someone sends £750 via paypal on an e-bay international purchase WITHOUT asking for that kind of information then they would be in dire need of a programme of psychiatric intervention. Rare Gems, on a purchase at that level you've got to expect the same kind of questions on e-bay from anyone with any sense. And such questions would be totally acceptable and indeed expected by any reputable seller (which, of course, you will be). Still following this thread, but wavering slightly, I can never understand this 'anonymity' thing re identities on this or similar forums. What's with using daft names? Me, i went for the imaginative and snappy 'Steve Woomble' as my identity. Because, strangely enough, that's my name (Honest!). Nothing to hide, no pretence. ITS ME EVERYBODY!!!! HI!!! And I assume Martin Snow is Martin Snow too, so brownie points from me to that man. Anyway, whatever! The world still turns and all that. Steve Woomble

This is the best entertainment on here for ages! Nice 1 boys! Hey how about 'Celebrity Soul Source Wrestling' now that our Saturday evenings have been ruined by the sad demise of 'Celebrity Ponsing About On Ice'? It could be the future.... Draw for the 1st bout...(2 falls or a submission)..... Rare Gems of soul v Martin Snow Me? I'll take on anyone. Come on Hampsey, let's have it!! Or you Page, I reckon I could ave yer! Hey let's extend it further and have tag teams, 'Northern v Modern!! or even 'RnB v kings of x-over'!! Or how about 'Celebrity Deathmatch' DJ bouts?? The possibilities are endless!! Anyone got ITV's phone number??

Lou Rawls ...see You When I Git There...in Demand
oldsteve woomble replied to a topic in Record Sales
Mark! I was trying to suss out one of them smiley face jobbies to sum up yr thought on Lou Rawls. This was the only one I could get to fit...... ! Then again, (and quite rightly), each to his/her own! Me, I think he's got the voice of an angel! When he comes in on my fave Lou track with....."You'll never fiiiiind, as long as yoooou live"..... WOW. I'm shivering all over at the very thought of it. Steve -
That's the spirit! I have seen the future!! And her name is Marge!! (Or, perhaps, His name is Marge!! but I've lost the dramatic effect a bit now.....) Marge! It's 'ALL ABOARD THE SOUL TRAIN'!!!..... And you're driving Steve

We're coming to add to the drunken debauchery. I'm bringing my pipe for in the deep room on saturday afternoon. Also, could you sort me out a chair near an electric socket cos I'll need to plug my giant slipper in. Keep the fires burning Steve

Actually, my choices are evolving since I started this thread...... Thinking on, I'm going for Idris Muhammed - 'I'm A Believer'. Just in case. Should score well on the last minute brownie-pointometer .................... Amen Steve
-
I was just keeping my options open and all bases covered. Actually, instead, I think I might go for Roosevelt Mattehews 'you Got me Diggin You' Steve
-
Louby wants to add hers...... Hamilton Movement - She's gone Otis Clay - The Only Way Is Up Gwen McCrae - Keep the Fire's burning. Nice 1! Steve
-

It's a bit like having a will. When the reaper picks your number out, how do you know that your nearest and dearest ain't gonna end up playin Whitney's 'I will always love you' , or, even worse, Benny Hill's 'Ernie - the fastest milkman in the west. Or summat....... Anyway, for the record, just so's you all know (copy to my solicitors if i had one)).............. Freddie Scott - Mr Heartache Timi Yuro - It'll never be over for me Charles Mann - it's All over Keep smiling Steve
-
Without a doubt it's just got to be 'Needle in A Haystack'. No matter how many times I hear it, no matter how much i get told its cheesy, no matter how much the chin-strokers diss it........IT'S AWESOME.... I hate to say the following (cos it's dead boring so to do!) but.......... just imagine if this was found in the can today as an unreleased jobbie. There'd be questions asked in parliament, a special parade would be held down whitehall in its honour, it could bring peace to the world. Goddamit, it would even make my mucker Rob Thomas smile! From those opening bars of pure fantasticness, its one of the best ever. IM(nv)HO, of course I might even have it played at my funeral to cheer things along (just before 'Keep The Fires Burning') Hey there's a thread.... 'Records I'm Having At My Funeral'. I'm sure it must have been hammered before though....?? Happy days! Steve

Am I quick enough Keith? Cheers Steve

Ivor , Ian still had some of the batch left at yarmouth in 97 (well I assume it was the orig batch??)! Me and Trev Cox had a couple off him for £15..... Traded mine though, just couldn't get on with it. Just got to the point where I thought bugger this it's too bland and . Oh well, it was worth getting rid to go towards Corey Blake . Steve

Richard Searling, Newies Spot, Wigan Casino 1979
oldsteve woomble replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Pete that's absolutely tremendous to listen to, thanks for sharing it. Some on the scene would be anal about it and keep it all for them very-selves and no one else can listen to it so there ner ner ner ner ner. I never went to Wigan, got to admit sometimes it wears a little thin when folk reminisce (thats not how you spell it is it? - oh well) about 'the old days', particularly when there's still so much happening now. But without doubt this kind of recording is part of OUR history and heritage. It deserves total respect. And I thought it was fantastic to hear. Cheers m8, nice 1. And i'm not one for saying that lightly. Steve -
Ey up Mark I think on quality alone its got to be worth that. (And for anyone after one, I think Roger used to have a few in stock but probably all gone in the mists of time). You're the man to make it a big tune m8, get it played! all the best - steve

I sold a not brilliant condition red copy 3 or 4 years ago, to a very well known DJ and record dealer, for £100 (!). Gotta admit I was extremely surprised (and happy ) to get this for it, but I thought he must know summat I didn't and that maybe he was gonna hammer it and make it big. A belting, top quality tune IMO and one I've played out a few times always to good response. Went down v well @ Valatone! The only reason I sold it was cos I've got another better condition red one in the box. Steve
