  1. No no no..Not regional please....Dave and In Town Mikey would be running over the sheep from Ponds Forge with tractors Then there are the pie eaters, scallwags alongside bloke who still tuck jumpers into jeans ...Lets keep it a uk thing and we can all laugh at each other...Kenny aint sure what he is any more....He shouts loads a money with a Barnsley twang Most of that London lot are from all over, north v south don't exist ok...We are all one Well most of us...
  2. What thread was you reading Ian on NCSC to come up with the playlists????I think it will be harder and harder to be cutting edge and still provide quality and get enough people through the dor and still keep everyone happy .."A promoters job is not a happy one"..Good topic...There are so many nights now to hear many different styles from Lincoln to North Wales and Portsmouth to Aberdeen..I don' think the north /south thing is what it was a few years back..We have inside toilets up here now and listening to smooth mid tempo southern soul, well some of us...The tradional northern soul nights are still up here but so are the more progressive ones too..Did the Southern sound mean London/south coast and then the rest???Birmingham/Bristol/Cambridge etc are very south were all these put in the northern stable??...Good topic indeed...Over the years it was the tradional northern towns for me and London, aint too sure what was going on elsewhere....The sound of Kent in the 80s brought a lot of us together, that was the sound we all first started listening to...up-tempo,deep soul ballads, stompers etc,it was all just soul to us,nothing to do with north or south...I did notice a big difference when i started going to the 100 club..It was deeper more mid tempo than most northern club nights, and sound that i really took to but not others as much...Kent and Stafford really paved the way for us in the 80s and it was a breath of fresh air that kept us on the soul scene...Could go on and on about this thing i love But i will take a break...
  3. Yes Bobby Bland version..Fecking tuuuuuuuune indeed...That Brett bloke is a soul brother and a drunk ..

  11. Sam in the theatre Did you steal the toilet rolls or the lead off the roof you scallywag
  12. Don't know if they would let his sort into the theatre ..Paul R SAID THEY SHED A TEAR AT THE END,thats been done many a time over the last few years, myself included and i aint ever been to Wigan..That says something in itself about the play..We all see aspects of our own lives on the scene during the two hours, some more than others..I think the plays given joy and memories to many people..Its also got a lot of people back onto the scene with flyers for soul nights and djs playing at the theatres in the bar area before and after....
  13. Pete You could go and see the show on this tour..Starts in Manchester tonight for 4 nights and then London,Glasgow,Wigan and last to Coventry,on you're doorstep aint it...Pop along mate but leave the camcorder at home A certain person sneaked one into the show at Manchester but the red record light was spotted and they were told to F"*& off  ..They are not gonna release it to dvd while its showing live....
  14. I have seen it now for the third year running and its not easy to judge...The cast is different each time but all have been very very good actors..On the whole its been getting very good feedback from the press and public, aint heard much negative feedback at all...I know the cast and the producer/director so maybe i'm not in the best position to judge....Its a tall order for 4 people to hold the stage for two hours without losing the crowd but they seem to have done this really well... Did you see the show to a full house or not??? i have found the weekend nights with a full house are the best for atmosphere etc...Half empty on a school night aint gonna be the same...Let me know what you did not like, aint nothing wrong with negative feedback, each to there own.....Did you see it in Blackpool,Pompey or elsewhere???????
  15. Come on mate...It was a PK 125 Heard a lot of good things about you're soul dj nights on the scooter scene from Peter S on here...Let me know where you are at mate and would like to meet up for a drink some time..Don't get started on the soulies v scooter thing We all know there are plenty on the scooter scene who are really into the music and then there are them other ones

  17. Is that the Duke from Huddersfield...Did not know you could write mate.. Many links between the scooter and soul scene..Not all of them scooter boys are loud mouth, bad dancing, beer drinking yobs... :We have some of them on the soul scene and they aint ever seen a scooter.. .. Love and peace.. Rev....Kenny Lynch..
  18. I think the magic of the Ritz was that a lot of people only got to go to a few all niters a year and there was always a bigg buzz in the lead up to it...Lots of soulies coming from all over the country..I really miss that place, great memories...First all niter i met Mr Bolton at, i think he was a virgin then The Ritz rarest of the rare was one of the great moments for many and took them on the road to salvation and away from the top 500 ...Good post Matt...
  19. When a niter was at midnight then it was half the fun to wait outside with all you're mates...Then run inside and straight onto the dancefloor..The first dj was really pleased to open up the night with everyone outside listening to the pounding beat and the anticipation was stepped up..Now the first dj on is dreading it,the graveyard shift...Times change and so do peoples habits...I don't want to walk into niters in bright daylight...I love the warm up do's before the all niter..Lets hope they continue...Come on the weekend....
  20. Gonna pop over there..Great way to start off a big big weekend.. :yes:I hope the Trouts will be there for some cross-over magic...
  21. I would like to see niters starting later...In the past it was 11pm/12 midnight...Then the likes of Greatstone and many others could be an ideal place for the night owl brigade to meet up....There will be a good little crowd at the Greatstone who will be over at Sherridans later..... ....Looking forward to the weekend
