The hammer is coming out again..
-
Its back to the pigeon hole for Knick Knack Paddy Wack.... I call it " shite ".... Everytime i hear them words in the song at an event, i go into my bag and pull out a hammer and want to hurt someone.... .. Its the stuff at both ends of the so called scale that most folk can't take... That being 50s early 60s Rock n Roll style and disco. at the other end.. I am happy with that in the main...
-
I can't download on my phone, maybe a kind person could put a few tracks with an RnB flavour that have infected the world of " northern soul'..
-
I would take note of Mace, he knows his onions from being out there every week over the years and dealing in records of various description...... Most of these topics are pissing in the wind again and again again.... Before you can vote yes or no you need to define all these tunes, impossible, the same tune can be in a RnB, northern, Rock< roll, Rhythm and soul, rockin blues, popcorn cross under( ) catagory depending on the views/ ears of many different folk.... All these pigeon holes , its a funny old game..... I was told this last week that i should not play Buddy Ace " screaming please" at a northern event.... I am guessing that he had it in his pigeon hole as RnB, I did not ask, not worth wasting play time with creatures..... Some of it can have a RnB, blues, psych, country, rock, pop, funk, gospel, disco edge to it.... But its all soul to me.... But i do get the jist of this topic done to death a thousand times with the likes of J T Parker, Charles Sheffield, Joe Tex and many more tunes getting big plays a great reactions in many established " northern events "........ Some would say " that aint northern, its RnB shite while they flop around the floor to some white pop shite they call soul .. "Its a funny old game "..... So many flavours out there in the sweetshop, a million sweetshops in events.... Go suck on a few things and see what you like... ps... Tin hat on now, i can see some pigeon fanciers lurking....

Can you expand on why you think there will be a lot of dissapointed folks....??? let me into your thinking... Did we not have 50 page epic with "soul boy " before it came out This film aint just made for soul source members , there is another world out there ... The aim of the film makers is not to make a b-movie for ex members of the wigan casino... Its to make a film to show the world, and that includes the REAL WORLD... The makers of " soul boy " made the mistake of letting a lot of the soul crowd see the film first, They came away and posted thoughts straight away on here and others forums , the feedback from that killed it dead in the water.... "Soul Boy" was like the bargain bucket at Asda in its promotion of the film, a car crash indeed.... A lesson taken on board by these film makers i am sure... I am sure there will be another epic topic on here once its come out.. Not long to wait now it seems... Then you can all have your " lets give it marks out of ten poll.....

I thought he was talking about that other lot defending the mission... Maybe he could let us all know.... The world of fim is a cut throat and dark world, i have seen it for myself.... No room for sentiment.... You can shove your KTF and KOKO where the sun don't sine..

Welcome to the real world....

And the whole point of the post was were can i find a place like Prestwhich, a 2 room venue , where i can here 60s Northern to modern.... Quite a simple post really.... Any places that can provide this mix should let the guy know, all others should butt out.... We all know what your thoughts are Terry, you have told us a million times, you have blinkers and do not like 70s or modern, this thread is not for you... And we are talking soul clubs here, not all niters, so your boring dreary yawn yawn yawn time of the night in the wee hours as no bearing.... You stick to what you like and leave others to search their soul... Plenty of choice out there... As i said above, whats the point in posting details of clubs that can't provide the mix he requires, its just hot air...
-
2 rooms can give a mix of sounds.. The mix you talk about in the opening post does work ok in bars with DJs, that's been going on for all my years in Manchester... If that's your bag mate, all mixed into one room then most posts on here will not give you what you ask for..
-
Here are the details for our next event as a person was kind enough to give us a mention above.... In 2 rooms you will hear....60s rare soul/ northern / crossover/ deep funk/ 70s soul/ early 80s soul and some new stuff... Thats quite across the board and it does seem to work... The format does change with each month, depends on the guests and second room options... ?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent> ?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>

The Older I Get The More New Stuff I Want To Hear
Little-stevie replied to Premium Stuff's topic in All About the SOUL
Good post mate...... This is the way i have always been, looking for new tunes from many different styles, open ears to anything.... I have said before that Soul Source is a very broad church, some just think in terms of " northern soul ", its much much more than that to many... True soul for me is to take off the blinkers and trust your own ears and not be influenced by what others say or think... No matter if that means sharing your passion with a few folk in the comfort of your home or with a crowd out at an event..... Search your soul..... -
See if you can dig it out Steve.. So many of these f"ckers were around in the 80s, i am sure quite a few were freinds of people reading this, many folk put up these bastards and had them in the same scooter club or at soul venues.... Glad to say that many of these type got a good kicking in later years as folk got organised and chased these creatures back into the cave....
-
.. Then I think the deep soul treaures are a winner for an easy listen... All the best Dave...
-
Millions to choose from, maybe best tell us what your relative likes??? Soul is a very broad church on this forum.... As stated above, Kent selections with the inner sleeve notes are something special.. For me its The Dave Goddin deep soul vol 1 to 4... A real passion of this thing called soul...
-
Most folk are more able to digest better in smaller portions... sooty gives you much more in every portion. The odd feast is fine but lets have snacks too Sooty...
-
.. Or maybe a new section... All about Sooty.... It was I who said " less is more" but I guess that's just not in his nature.... Peace, love, merry Xmas...
-
Still looking for a copy... Can anyone help... Cheers....
-
After a clean copy to replace a cracked copy .. Patti Drew.. Stop.. Look.. Listen on Capitol records.... Cheers
