Nice words indeed...I and others do think the same..I have always known that the scene is full of great people who would do anything to make you welcome..There are a good few shit bags too like in any other walk of life but we know who a good few of them are and keep them at a distance..Never let these few people taint what is a great scene and a way of life for many....Not sure if i know you soulie 64 but all the best and see you around..

There is all that la beat stuff with good footage of rare soul artists..Chris at New Century soul was knocking them out and others also..

Nice touch Karen..Its got a good feel to it...

Not sure what lp mate..The Kent lps put me on to this and many others in the 80s..Thanks for the tape through the post..A pint on me when i see you..

I know a good few boys in Sweden on the soul scene in Gothenborg and Stockholme, not sure if you know them..Whats the location for your soul/disco event????Nowt wrong with a bit of everything if it brings more people over the soul side ..I take it you mean black american Baz style disco and not Abba ..
-
Welcome to Soul Source..Yes you could be my brother,my father did have a window cleaning round ...Where are you from and what kind of tunes get you wet then ..If its disco you want then two guys on here can lead the way for you..Contact Pete Smith and Baz....These boys really put the D in disco.. ..Tell us a bit about you sir, always good to meet new folk..
-
Keep talking Pete..I think you are a man of value on this site..You post on various topics and contribute a lot to the site.... This is a forum for the people and they have a voice..It aint all about cash is it ..I would like to think that many folk would tell each other if they thought a certain record was over priced..If thet gossip aint the truth Pete then leave that phone off the hook

Great call Nick and Co...One of the greatest soul tunes ever..What a tune for the dancefloor, loooooooooooooooooooooooose your fuc"ing mind out there, eyes closed, sweat and tears... My choice for tonight is deep down dirty 60s soul...Would be great to get a sound file... Cleo Randle....Big city lights..

If I Had A Convertible And The Sun Was Shining
Little-stevie replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
The sun is shining...Car full with mates half cut... Ray and the blue satins..............She doesn't love me... Sister Sledge....Love don't go through no changes on me.. Marvin Gaye.........Yesterday... -
No not me...Shane is the man to keep all in order and make sure the memberships are sorted ..I was just having a nice time reading posts on this topic and then this..Like i said its about who you liked and not who you don't..That topic would be interesting for sure but i aint got a legal team or any cash for that matter ..Get back to work Rachel..That shelf won't stack on its own
-
Ok Dan Thanks to Billy for the link above..Its on now and goose bump are there... ..It does it every time...Whe she screams at the end oooooooooooooooooh. REAL DEAL SOUL TRACK..Like so many tracks its just too short,i can't get off in two mins ,i need at least 3 mins for that

Mark Bicknell always says that Ian Clarke was the man he looked up to.. ..And a good few others also..Can you let us people know a little more about Mr Clark..Venues..Tunes etc etc..Many on here including myself are not really aware of him.. regards steve

Don't bite...Thats what the side kick wants..Its been a good topic...Its about your fav djs and nothing else...Not a place to slag off other djs...If so then it would break all records.... with posts on here.. Keep it light hearted folks and chill out...If you like Levine as Mark B does then say so,if you don't like him then so be it but keep it off here...Its been a nice topic with some good posts and brought back some good memories.. September 73 is lurking now...Lets have a little post from you sir, nice to get the views from a big promoter on the scene....
-
I think you should take this post with a pinch of salt Mr Sweeny...The side kick is looking for a reaction and you took the bait...The side kick could be the man himself ,who knows...

For me and a good few of my mates its was Carl Willingham through the 90s to present day..We still miss him for sure...He was a dj who people would travel to see..God bless Carl Willingham, when he played Teardrops at Cleethorpes for the last time ,one of them moments indeed... Roger Banks in the mid 80s was the man for us also..I still like to see Roger play now...Would like to see the line up of djs from the Droylsden all niters in Manchester..I think they were the highlight of my time on the soul scene, they saved us at a time when the scene was pretty small..Mr Bicknell and co will go down in history for them all niters...Also Pat Brady in the 80s was another for my crowd. ...My little list is.. Roger Banks Carl Willingham Butch Keith Money Ady C... That was the thread about dj...I know and have heard many collectors put together a great set but they are just one offs for a small group..My list is for the guys who can bring quality and keep a large floor going..That what a dj was invented for... These cover my time on the scene from 82 to present day...Many more who have really pricked my ears but not really heard to much from them..Like i said the thread is about djs...I know some boys with records to kill for but they are collectors first and not really djs...I like to see these guys in smaller venues for a crowd that really listens... Some of the best tunes i have heard over the last year are from Mr Baz Atkinson, only heard this guy play a few times but he really pricked my ears with some different sounds...I think i will get to hear him a little more in the coming year .. This is a very large part of life for some and its to the grave..Keep your mind and soul together and you won't go far wrong...

What about Jo Wallace..She can really carry her voice too One big voiced soul sister from the East End..
-
Its so true..I would not like to be some dealers or people with large collections thinking they are sitting on a gold mine..The people willing to pay top price are falling away..
-
Welcome Marco If you just want the records on any format and aint too bothered about paying out for original stuff then it should be easy to pick up most stuff on issues/boots etc..many of them around now..Pete Smith(Pete S) on here would have some for sale i think plus a good few others..I am sure a good person will post his contact details for Pete Smith Records and others too..It that easy now, don't have to leave the house and just buy em all on line..If its the original stuff you are after then i think you will also get many on here.. steve

Yes Clifton Hall was one of the first all niters for me,i was there to see the no show from Dobie Gray....I think it was the first time i bought a record from a niter...James Coit.."Black Power" ..One of them tunes that never came back really but a certain dj did play it at New Century all niter last boxing Day,the first time i had ever heard it played in over 20 years....I think its due for a comeback now ..One of the many crazy mad speed head tunes that took us on the road to hell along with "Come on and swim"..."Too late".."Manifesto".."You don't mean it" etc etc 150 mph soul stomping monsters,i would stand by the dancefloor and just watch the frenzy of sweat, speed and talc...I would love to drop James Coit into a set at places like Lifeline and then move towards the exit door before the first bottle hit me ..Ok,it stays at the back of the box for another few years yet..Any photos from Rotherham back then...

I think with two Soul Source members and £14,000 involved it will be worthy of the attention of many on here..Some aint got a life ...Is it worthy of the site????not sure but the mods will sort it out..
