  1. Another important topic, don't let it get taken up with off topic stuff ... I think Headsy needs the muzzel
  2. Good post Baz....I get a buzz from hearing a new tune that i like and i don't care a cows cu"t if its 10 quid or 2,000...Fresh tunes are what i want to hear and well thought out set ..Semi known, underplayed, rare etc but the price means nowt to me,i hope its cheap and then i too can afford one ...Just a balanced night with good tunes on original viynl... The passion is a different thing for each person too....I get a buzz from seeing people dance and having a good time sat with freinds, not from seeing the chin stroker in the record bar ..I have freinds who just stand in the record bar all night and have a great time too...You pay your money and do what you wanna go... And Yes....The post about Dan and KR is a bit off the mark Many many great cheap tunes without going to BOOT LEGS ARE US ..
  3. Like you said Baz..This post is drifting away like so many others from a the real point...The point is that a person who some of you know is involved in sending this letter and of other dealing too....Lets hope that people power again can win through and the snakes all crawl away..Lets hope that people who behave this way are named and then we can at least keep them away from our nights...Not a letter from pc plod, just a letter from some person who got one Cse in woodwork at school it would seem ,not the sharpest tool in the box...Don't all this shit get you down sometimes...Grown men who act like spoilt kids in the playground..I don't think you will ever really stop rival promoters trying to put each other out of business, thats the game some play...
  4. Repeat records in the same night..How many silly cun"s dance to the same record 3 or 4 times in the same night.... Promoters would have to give a quid back to every customer for each time a repeat was played...I know a few who would soon be piss broke
  5. Mags is welcome at our little club night in Manchester at the moment because Kev aint contacted me yet ...Whats that about flying pigs.... Power to the people always...
  6. Leave the Tempest alone Steve ..Tweak away on the others though...Some who tweak forget to return it to 0 and then the next dj really looks a silly cu"t ..
  7. I too have had the pleasure of Johnny Red pants,a real character.....Hope to get to see him again sometime... steve..
  8. Not sure if the folk up this way will understand a word you say ..Try and cut out all that apples and pears .. I can see Nick saying here we have a great slice of "toad in the hole" for all you northern monkeeeeeeeeeeeeees... Hope it goes well....
  9. Would like to see more of Coops work,is there stuff in gallery here or some other place..
  10. Great story mr BB ..A real character for sure...I only had the company of Sean for a few hours at soul nights and did not have to live with him Ken..I really hope i can get some contact details for him and have a beer and a chat about old times....Love his tales of running with the Gooners IN THE 70S...... HE MADE ME WELCOME AND MADE ME LAUGH,I CAN'T ASK FOR MORE THAN THAT..
  11. Location a sunny weekender by the sea... Room one.... Ballroom playing great uptempo/mid tempo mix of northern with leaning away from the top 500..I would hear... Live On..J.B.Troy................Dead end street.........Rain maker by the moods.....Someday...Tempest.....Little girl lost and many many more tunes that we all know but don't hear out that much...stuff that keeps the floor full without turning into a northern soul wedding No talc... soft drinks only(the bar is the first option for some and not the music)....waiters only.. No mad spinning guys who shower me in sweat Quality sound system that lets off the smell of rotten farts if Wigan pop tunes come on Large wooden dancefloor with soft lighting.. An option to stay open for 3 days if the medication is good Room two... deep soul ballads from 60s/early 70s.. big chairs/sofa cocktail bar record dealers with buy one get one free offer.. room 3.. Monster oldies room.. talc vest pants with more flare than my mums curtains mops for sweat spillage Happy hour bar for 24 hours with a special offer on the mild Djs who just love the mic and shout "come on you fu"kers lets have it" after each tune Buckets of marching power on every table with large spoons chill out room to iron beer towels and change the bag,its full and smells a bit sound system that cuts out if tempo drops below 150 mph... Manifesto is just a mid tempo plodder in this room Room 5.. Mod/Rnb/popcorn/jazz/ska/club soul room 6.. Scooter boys room... The snake First aid room for the fighters Girls who look harder than the boys No Mods Dancefloor swamped with beer and blood and teeth Bootleg record dealers that make the Kray twins look like big girls.. Men singing that song out loud "we were made for each other" Room 7 This is the car park for the Y2K soul crowd and dogging crew.. ..Just crank up the carstereo and drop the pants.. This venue would give me a chance to see all my freinds under one roof..It would say on the flyer something for everyone... On the last night its everone in the same big room and party time...Watch the mods two step to 80s soul and see mr bling trying a back flip... Tickets on sale soon for the greatest weekender.. Just a bit of fun and i hope i don't upset any of you good folk.. love and peace x
  12. Had it last year Dave with Soul Or Nothing at 14 Loyd Street Manchester..The venue closed down and i lost the best place i ever found for a soul night..Also had great times with the rare all niters at the Ritz in the 90s,great to have them tunes in place like the Ritz with the huge dancefloor and big sound system...
  13. Whats become of Skinhead Shaun from the 100 club..I always used to see him by the side of the stage, always a handshake and a smile for me and my mates...Had some good times there in the 90s with him...Not seen or heard of him for quite a few years now..
  14. QUOTE(mark.b @ Jul 26 2006, 09:27 PM) link yes details are russ winstanley inventor of northern soul cloud cuckoo land somewhere over the rainbow sorry no idea mark
  15. Would like buy the back issue copies of the show off that guy???send details...Does that cash then go towards the show...????/
  16. Great post Pete ..I love topics like this, all good and positive..Makes a nice change from all the bull shit we get sometimes.....I too feel the same Pete when i hear that tune,it just makes me happy....
  17. "Seek and you will find"...Its on the Soul Or Nothing first anniversary cd..Album only track... Also love Lonely Lover by Marvin but tooooooooo many to call
  18. Yes MATE "Thats how it is" great tune that i love to play at home...Great deep soul record..
  19. The other one my dear...I know that you are pure and sweet...
  20. Yes a good call on King Bee and Beatin Rhythm, the better known shops for rare black music...Ask at the counter at Vox pop for some of the better stuff, they have plenty but not really on show....Did not have the Duke down as a funky guy ,yes Fat city have a good selection of underground tunes on the modern(not 70s) side..All these sit in the northern quarter apart from King Bee and there are a few more there too for second hand and new release stuff..Happy shopping...
  21. I think its Kirsty who does the swallow dive the best ..She is from Yorkshire too..
  22. We can talk tomorrow...Really really need some rest now..Lights out for me..I also have a another venue in mind and that would be even better..Speak in the next few days.. steve
  23. Always good to keep the rare soul going on the radio..I can offer the venue we use for Soul Or Nothing for a one off event,no cost involved,i am sure we will have many djs who would gladly come and play for free...100 tickets to keep in comfy at £10 each...Thats a £1000 towards the show..I don't really listen to the show that much but with so many getting pleasure from this i think its worthy indeed...Let me know soon as and i can sort out a date.. steve
  24. Nice track....
  25. Yes ...But i have an head start on most of you.... .... I know some blokes in the past who pretended to be black or wanted to be but none of them where from the soul scene...
