Pinning a label on someone and sticking them in a pigeon hole marked '.......' (Insert the genre of your choice) just alienates someone who perhaps prefers another style, thus making the 'Them and us' situation worse!. Why cant we just like 'Soul' Music??.. Good idea but a lot of folk just like 60s,others just 70s/Modern etc etc etc.. i have always liked a good mix of soul and all in one room on the same night but many are different..You have to say on the flyer what you are gonna play or some folk would not make the effort to travel any distance or even a mile or two..This is a soul site and we all have our own taste..Some have a broad taste and others where blinkers like the milkmans horse..I know as Jemco says that we can't all get along but just keep most of that shite off here,i think the forum was set up to have fun and meet like minded people ..Some folk are plain bitter and twisted and want to make everything around them the same..There are other sites for self harm and suicide pacts,go there and leave us be...Gonna stay on for a while its Heartbeat on the box now,they play tooooooooo much of the shite 60s poppy stuff on there .

Well said Old Soul Git...We can all get a little too involved sometimes and say and do things we later regret..I don't want a the site to run by christians and i love you all brigade but we have to keep some of the posts off here that just go out to damage another event becaause they have a vested interest in a rival promotion...I go where i please and like others to do the same,i aint one of these you come to my event and i'll come to yours ,go where you feel you will have the best time with people you wanna be with ..Its about having fun aint it..I know big promoters have to play a different game,it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time to plan and run an events and its more a business but still they have to try and keep a balance...Some people think they are clever and the rest of us are fools ,i think we all know who the fools are...Like the post above said,"we are a long time gone"..Time for Corrie now ..

Good topic and yes there is room for all..You are never gonna get them all sending each other xmas cards but lets keep all the shite off here..All for a consrtuctive post that could say " to many repeats"/poor floor/etc etc etc...With so many nights on every week now we have clashes all over the place and some folk are gonna post negative about a rival,all that shite should be kept off here ..Just get on with what you are doing,promote your nights,plug your events,all sounds like common sense IMO but some will not be able to hold back from trying to big themselves up and putting others down..Lets hope too that we see more feedback from punters and not just the promoters and djs of the events ,i think its feedback from punters that will get more folk to an event,we don't seem to have that many genuine punters posting regarding events..This leads to under hand tricks from rival camps just trying to out smart each other a lot of the time...Bring back the true punters and then posts/feedback and lots of other stuff on soul source will be of more interest to more people..

I was talking to a certain collector/dj the other day and he told me he changes the pitch control on a few tunes,some to +5 ,is this good practice??? you could turn a mid tempo plodder into a floor filler and i know of a tune by a country/western style RnB tune by a white lady that sounds like Ray Pollard at his best at 33 rpm...sorry if this topics been done before but is pitching done by most or is it the work of the devil??? should the tunes be played at the speed they were made or does it not matter to you???? i aint ever pitched up a tune,i have enough problems just pressing start/stop after a few vimpto's without thinking of pitch control..Have you been foooooked up by others messing with the pitch and not re-setting it...Are there any big tunes that have made the grade by pitching,should we all take our whole box and have a mess around,we could be missing out on the next big tune....Not sure if i am for or against really???? in other forms of music its the skill of the dj to play with pitch control but we know that we have some bingo callers on our scene who don't know how to turn the mic down when the tune is playing ..Lets see what you lot think...

Looks and dress code make a dj in the city center clubs..Is that not the same on the northern scene ..

Not just the ones with cash mountains,thats for sure ..Some out there have no fooooooookin clue how to put a set together but they have a box full of big ticket tunes ....Its not an easy question though is it??? some love a certain dj and others think they are crap..

Some folk still won't play a tune if its at a real cheap price,if a cheapie goes up in price then they think its getting plays again and buy ..I know people who don't look for tune under £50 and miss many great tracks,many start at 50 quid and above and so some dealers put cheapies over that mark too... There are many fools playing overpriced average tunes because of the cost and not the quality.. ..If the dj stand is just full of the folk out there with the most cash to spend then its a sad world for me...I like to see thought out sets from people who can't spend big but have to mix it up with underplayed cheaper stuff..I am told there are moneybags djs who just buy big but have no soul?? could this be true ...

Yes i was there a few times in the mid 80s with Bob Monkhouse from Huddersfiels,whats become of that bloke..I have some photos some place,just like i have for Warrington and many other places ,will have to sort them all out one day and scan them onto here,would be good to see who knows who...Bank hall was a big deal for us going into red rose land,we called it going over the top ...Happy days indeed...
