Aint seen my dad for a good while now.. .. Good to see he is still alive after the 5,000 women he took to bed  Next time you see him then ask him to give us a ring if he can remember which one i am ,should be a few knocking about with his track record
-
I'm glad you said it was because of drink....What else would some have thought I have had a nick name the last few years....Sizzler ...Thanks Karen/Gil etc... Fudge.....Where does that come from...
-
In answer to the question..Yes its changing all the time for some, less for others and never for some ...
-
The days of one room are gone for a lot of people now, some aint happy to hear 20% of tunes they don't like in one night, that makes it hard to please all......I love one room events sometimes,2/3 room events also...Like i said before,we have plenty choice at the moment and many people still around and going out all over the uk and Europe.. Its the future that needs to be thought about..That will be a time for certain promoters to put heads together and look at joint promotions..They will have to stop spitting the dummy out and put the toys back in the prams too..Some hope
-
Lets not get on the RnB debate again....Its all RnB.... ....Its just that you need 5 rooms for some and they still aint happy..A nice mix of all styles in one room for me...
-
Yes a good point Simon...I was a small part of the promotion on Saturday and really loved the event but i too would want the more traditional club to co-exist also,i like both formats and a different kind of choice sometimes when we go out.. There is gonna be northern soul nights around for a many years to come but they won't be every week on the doorstep...Not sure thats a bad thing at all,the waiting bit is what gets me buzzing and lets be honest, there aint a lot of buzz for many folk anymore... One of the main problems is gonna be staying up all night for some, many are well well past youth and the rest period after a weekender/all niter is getting longer and there is a problem then if it gets in the way of work...We could all fall out of bed still pissed on a Monday morning when we were spring chickens and work a full day..Not the case anymore..I know some who have a poor Monday, suicide Tuesday, ropey Wednesday and then better by Thursday afternoon, just enough time to make the phone calls and polish the shoes for a full weekend again The soul brigade are made of iron but it can't last forever...We aint teenagers anymore but the medication lets some think they are There will be plenty soul nights for another 10/15 years and then we will see them fall away...The all niter is a different question...They will be less of a crowd and a need for promoters to come together and run joint events, some already do that now...Central based all niters to bring people from all over the country, just like the Ritz in Manchester did and others before that... Word of warning though,we will need at least 7 different rooms to take all music styles and then you will still have some moaning ..We all know some right wet drips, why do they do come out at all,i would not get into a car with these f"ckers, yet some put up with them week in week out...I thought going out was to have a good time and not listen to some miserable c"£t telling us about the days of the ark,we all look back sometimes with great memories but its the future that counts..Yesterday is yesterday and lets look forward to tomorrow...Stop all the negative shit,go the places you wanna go and why comment or look down on nights that you aint attending... Some folk on here make comments about the state of the soul scene and they don't go out anymore, .. We all have some passion fot this thing called soul, channel the passion and embrace the music and some of the great people you have met along the way to the promise land...Don't dwell on the dickheads, they too will always be around but just leave them skulking in the dark corners and get out on the floor... "if you ever walk out of my life"....

Does anyone have a copy of Ann Peebles...Slipped Tripped..Fell in Love....For sale...

-
Hi Stamford Good to have you back on here, its been a good while and i am sure many have missed your input...Hope to catch up with you at somepoint... So many posts go down the same line, into soul from the mod scene revival 79 onwards...Into the scene in the early days and then a break away to come steaming back in the 90s with more passion than ever...Nice thread and good to see a post that aint pulling anything/anyone down
-
Can anyone put up a soundfile for Stu Gardner,i got a mail asking for that but i don't know how to do it ..Just learnt to cut and paste cheers...
-
Beware of them cds that are for sale in Asda and petrol stations for 3.99..You will get a very different sound from them ...Good luck with the search, its a great way to go..
-
Hi Kevin I am sure others members off here will drop you a cd in the post, its been done for others in the past and then you get some real different stuff to listen too...I will drop you some tunes in the post ..Leave your address on here and i am sure others will do the same...You can keep us all updated as to what kind of sound floats your boat..Simsy and many others have got some really nice mixed cd's... If deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep disco and all things 70s are your bag then Pete Smith is your man Any other members up for this...I would have loved to get this kind of help when i started...Hours round Leeds market to come away with Nines Times Out Of Ten

..First record was Clifford Curry Aint no danger aged about 5 from my dads collection,Learning to dance at home in front of the mirror to the four tops aged 15...I was too old for the Brownies and started going to soul nights in Huddersfield ....First dj spot was at the Waggon and Horses on Leeds Road, half hour spot and a pint of bitter from Howard Earnshaw.First All niter was Bradford Queens Hall 1981/82....Lasted to about 2am before all the lads were asleep,we had started drinking at 7pm and did not know about the marching powder then..First live act was Gene Chandler Morecambe Pier 1982,never looked back after that..100MPH all the way for us and then the Stafford sound changed me for ever.. ..All niters on scooters in the 80s but after riding home from Warrington Parr Hall in the snow and ice i soon switched to train and car.....Till death us do part... One day i will get all the photos from the 80s and put them on here ...I think there could be a few laughs at the fashion
-
Yes i would pay high postage for a bargain.... .. I and many others who sell on ebay know that its tough to get a good price on most records at the moment, some hike up the postage to make up for letting tunes go cheaper..
-
6 dollars top...Thats what i pay...If they charged more than don't buy...

What Do You Most Like About The Scene?
Little-stevie replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in All About the SOUL
Talking shite with like minded half naked sweaty men in a pissed stenched toilet at 5am in the morning...Now thats life.. -
I play it off the original album only ...Looks like some will have a box full of vinyl carvers soon and no real records...Don't seem right to me but each to there own...
-
Thanks for feedback..Gonna give it a play when i get back home to my record deck..I know the Decca Uk are pretty common but this Parrot original could be pretty sort after,we shall see..Not easy to find details really..
-
Found a Tom Jones album at a junk shop for 50p..Its called Help yourself..and its on a rare looking label called Parrot.. PAS 71025... Is htis the album thats got a northern track on it???? i aint got a record player here to listen..If so then whats the track and can you tell me what the album is worth and any other info..Vinyl looks in excellent condition and nice sleeve too..
-
The scene and dancefloor every time....The records are nice to have but nothing beats dancing in the wee hours with like minded people...If my legs give way then i would stop i think...Would not want to be one of the people sat down all night, that would kill me.... Dance Dance Dance ... No kids..No rocking chair..No slippers...well not yet ...

Interesting post my freind..Lots to chew over there...Hours and hours of mid tempo rare rubbish ,could any place get away with that...I like many others started on the scene with the stomping northern classics and then got into the rare mid tempo rubbish as you call it .. I and many others are happy with a good mix of tunes/styles/tempo from 60s and 70s,all in the same room on the same night..From classics to semi known and unknown also..Thats all we ask for... I think you will get into some deeper soul as you get older mr Norwich, thats the way it seems to go for most...
