No.. we aint all as old as you... Yes i have had that experience at a few places, its fantastic to see them in some respects but sad that they aint the same rebel that you once knew ... It can be the best feeling in the world sometimes or a real letdown indeed with all the baggage that comes with some.. Tuesday blues ha ha x

Its a tough one Jane... If the crowd i was after was a younger crowd then yes a bring your own would be ok but the older crowd would be lazy i guess and want to comfort of knowing there is a bar.... They are not the kind to sit around with carry out bags of warm beer i guess.. The good point of a place with no bar though is that it can have the feel of the real underground/seedy and lawless, thats what the crowd wanted back in the day but now they are all grown up and want some creature comforts..

Its gonna be strange with all these productions coming to the screen in the next couple of years.. Will they be compared against each other with the Northern soul theme running through them all???? or stand up on there own with the seperate storylines??? time will tell as they say... This makes it more important to get it right folks because any that fall short on detail could be put to the sword by the people on this scene... ...Will this film benefit from being the first one out or will the others learn from its mistakes.. Its gonna be a real talking point on this forum and many others for a long long time.. The call for extras could become a real feature on here , maybe yet another section Mike I hope this scramble of all the film makers will bring a possitive outcome.. But a possitive outcome could be the money made??? and to us it would be more about the portrayal of something that we love so dear... The best outcome would be that its make shit loads of cash and its a great story and soundtrack too.. Yes time will tell indeed...

Was looking to go to Brighton for a long weekend and see freinds plus take in soul events too.. Just been looking at whats on for August bank holiday ... I have never seen as much choice for weekenders,all niter, all dayers/ club nights and the bonus of the Wigan Casino tribute band playing in Stockport ... Where are you all going.. maybe that will make my mind up... .. I am sure ther are many more events too, not listed on here.. How can i choose.. Please help We have talked about too many venues before.. I aint sure any other weekend could top this for events of so many kinds... If they all do well then the scene is indeed healthy, we shall see the feedback... Good luck to you all... ps.. Would love to see a full list of whats on for the weekend.. How many events can there be in the uk on bank hols such as this... 50 events??? 100 events??? more

The problem is that they use the word Wigan casino only.. A club with very very young punters indeed... many at 14/16.. Buy some stocks in Vaseline now, its gonna go through the roof...

It depends on what sounds they were listening to at your place when they asked maybe??? I have had cds/tapes done for quite a few folk based on what kind of thing they said they liked when i have played them.. Some have liked the fast northern stuff and others the more bluesy RnB OR funk/soul.. Maybe a comp that you got from mates with a combination of all would do the trick..

Quite a lot did fall by the wayside to the next thing but many more did stay the course and helped prop up many soul events in the 80s when numbers were down after the booooooooooom years.. As you have seen Pete.. Many many many people off this site came onto the soul scene from the mod revival thing, myself included.. Mod scene and then onto Kent Records and into the northern scene was the way for many...

Always good to read your posts Dave You Devil you... It does seem that the East Midlands is a war zone... I can only speak as i find and i take my hats off to the Attic Boys.. Not been to any other event down that way as yet... It would be good to see the people in question come and defend themselves , i'm sure that i would if i was being talked about in this way... This is a trip down memory lane indeed and i did have these two monsters ... Room 101 indeed... James Coit.. Black Power.. One of the first records i bought at Clifon Hall, only heard it played once since early 80s... Not sure it will have its second coming.. You can bet that quite a few off this topic are still getting spins at some place, there are many out and out oldies events on the calendar each week... Thrre Little Pigs ... What in gods name was that about, massive tune a few years ago for a short while... Its a huffing and a puffing its way to the dustbin...

You can drop in my freind with info, just do it in your own topic.... I think thats the rules on here .. You could also introduce yourself in the new members section, its always nice to know a thing or two about new members...

Maybe there still is.... Maybe you aint underground anymore and don't see it.... Underground does mean you have to go and find it and not have everything on google search.....
