The best way forward is for the promoter to decide whats best for the punters .. Keeps out the divs Some would say that mid tempo/ underplayed is watering down the music policy and not Duffy .. In the mid 80s i would do the Warrington all niter on a the scooter a few times from Huddersfield but soon learnt the error of my ways.. That cold wind would really get inside the parker and any clothing, could not dance for the first few hours.. It was the car and train after that... Never did see many scoots at a northern all niter from early 80s onwards.

Could be a good time to put on more events for the Scottish folk as many will not be able to travel toooooo far with all the worry about cash in this dark times.. You just have to get all the bull-shit and politics out of the way now... Thats the hard bit.... There aint no younger crowd to just turn up and dance the night away... Good luck to all promoters... A tough game anytime but even more so in 2009....

With you on that... Get off your arse and go see whats being played.. bums off warm seat in the comfort of home and on the many cold seats spare at venues...Many just use playlists to jack up the price of tunes they have for sale too... Yes as Joan says, two camps on this... I sit on the fence.. Maybe some plays or the odd playlist but don't give them everything, it takes away the magic for some folk.. Nothing better than still going along to a venue by chance and not knowing what to expect.. Sometimes certain nights post all playlists and then you are left with knowing what you got for xmas before the 25th December.. peace x

A lot could depend on who was promoting the event ... A weekly niter could work but it would be full of handbaggers and piss heads to fill a place that size...

The voting system should have had a category that said... Blown away the first time you heard it as a kid but sick the back teeth of it now.... That would have been the most voted for i think.. If i hear it now i just think about folk hanging round that stall that sells keep the faith clocks and casino mugs..

Happy new year to you all.... ... Some folk can't help telling us what we have to listen to.. As i have said before its a broad church on soul source with music from late 50s to the present day... It aint all about the main room northern soul event, many folk fragment off in all directions.. As the song says.. "Give a little/ Take a little... True loves a game of give and take".. Don't really go by playlists, if you aint there you don't know how the tune fits into a set or how its taken up by the punters.. There are certain records i have heard that have really gone down well in a set but if i had just read the playlist i would have though " what the fook is that dj doing".. Peace and love you bunch of fu"kers, its the weekend..

Anyone can and do say anything at certain times... Its more where the heads at than whats going on with the scene.. How many have said thats it, i'm finished with this scene its dead/crap/boring etc.. Only to be back at some point in the not too distant future.. People with a god complex can think that certain statements they make are the benchmark for all.. Not so.. Happy new year Ian.. Chill.. enjoy and be humble at times, its good for the soul...
