So much great stuff by Freddie Scott.. The flip to I'll be gone is a sweet tune too, never did turn it over before Wayne Dearman played it at Soul Or Nothing.. Also " where does love go ".. " Am i groovin you " ( Thanks to Karl Heard for this )... " Mr Heartache " would be happy if that was the last record i heard on this earth... A soul ballad of the highest order in my book.. Also does a great version of open the doors to you heart imo.. And much more.. Freddie Scott is the real deal for me.. Thanks for reply mate.. take care Steve

There aint nothing as precious as life... And there aint nothing as precious as the comments like we see here.. Sad news indeed.. Seen Alan out and about plenty times over the years and had the odd word... Not ever got to know him really but have heard many people talk about him with affection.. Always sad to hear news like this of a fellow lover of gods own music.. When you read a topic like this it makes me proud to be a part of something that can touch your heart and bring people together Steve xx

As i have said before.. I have am a big fan of the soul experience outside the uk, its like all my eggs in one basket to get to some great countries and take in the culture and meet like minded soul fans and get to events too and play a few tunes or just take in the experience and drink and dance.. I like cross section of sounds from tradional northern/ crossover/ 70s/ RnB/ Deep funk/ Rare soul/ deep soul/ Latin and can find this in its many forms around the globe.. Its not just the scene i look for though, i could find one keen collector in a wooden shack and a goat for partner alone on a moutain top and have a great experience( with the collector and not the goat ).. I don't go places with blinkers on or try to make comparisons with the scene here, just take in some different culture and get my fix of black plastic heaven and meet other people who hold a 7" record like a new born baby or just dance to what we think is the music from the gods.. Usa, lA and got a sample of the soul scene and mod scene, scooter scene.. A mix of tradional northern,crossover/ funk/ ska/ Rnb.. Played clubs ranging from 300 in a northern event to 150 in the mod and scooter events.. Looking to do NY event in 2010.. Sweden ( Gothenborg )one of the best dj soul experiences of my life with an up for it younger crowd.. Norway ( Oslo, soul experience )quality event with a mixed music policy from 60s to Modern... Gonna be back there soon, top quality IMO.. Australia ( Briabane national weekender, gold coast soul club, Sydney soul sisters ), had a great time as so well looked after and got to sample a mix of sounds from Wigan classics to crossover and modern.. Spain... Barcelona events with some very big collectors and quality djs who can and like to mix styles in one room... Still looking to do Madrid and Valencia in 2010 France... Perpignan weekender... Quality event and one of the best venues ever, a good mix of soul fans from France/ Spain/uk.. Italy.. Madrid record kicks with northern/ funk/ jazz,... plus the RnB MOD events Germany.. Been to events in the North West only but found plenty passion/ good clubs/ quality collectors and djs, again accross the board from tadional northern and onwards.. Looking at some of the quality weekenders for future trips.. Ireland.. Sleepless nights Dublin soul events are something that you should all try.. Plus soul/ RnB events in Wexford.. We have soul and passion all over the world, get out there and try it... I have had some of the best experiences ever on travels for soul events and met friends for life... Could not ask for more really.. Just have some respect for all the creatures that lurk on this forum from all four corners of the uk and around the world.. We all have passion and love our music, its just a broad church with many different sounds, i like to dip my toe in a few different styles and have found the good stuff and shite in all... I have done a bit of soul on my travels but still waiting to do plenty more, only one ride in the taxi of life, make sure you take it round the clock a couple of times is my motto... Blinkers off.. Passport out and come home with a soul experience and not a stuffed Donkey, ten bottles of cheap moonshine and 10,000 fags to see you through the next 6 months .... Just my take on things and i aint preaching to others.. We all have to find what floats our boat and good luck to you.. I did talk to Mike about an overseas section for events and will talk to him some more, i think that could be of use for a lot of folk planning holidays/ weekends away..

Glad you had a nice time Green Tangerine.. Did you follow my advice .. The OVO topics been done to a few times... Some of these mixed retro music nights are different to the real deal rare soul events and i guess that it aint so big a deal regarding the format... Just do what you wanna do and have some fun, life is too short... Keep on collecting my freind and i hope to meet you sometime for a chat, always nice to meet new folk... Take care Steve

Have a ham shank just before your set if you have any wood at all :shades... Gets rid of the demons and can settle you down... Good luck... The Black Button mushroom man xxx

Good post Billy Boy.. Many of my mates think the same.. Redemption room saved my weekend last year but the rooms not got enough seating for some as they stayed in there for many hours.. Will be good to have some feedback from the promoters... As Joan said, the main room was really the business a few years ago but its really really lost it.. The energy and mix of people just aint there no more... Many of my overseas mates don't bother anymore.. The Queen Vics got the tunes but i am sick of the bright lights, we talk about this each year but nothing changes..

Just posting this for a customer of mine.. Her father passed away and left this little beast... Email me to stevecato64@yahoo.co.uk if you are interested or call 07752084878.. This cleaner is in Manchester.. THE ORIGINAL HW-16 AND THEN LATER THE 16.5 HAVE BEEN IN CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION FOR 25 YEARS. Now with self aligning vacuum suction tubes for even more accurate cleaning. The HW-16.5's high-powered vacuum ensures quick, deep cleaning, while its newly designed vacuum pickup tube automatically adjusts to accommodate records of any thickness. The internal fluid collection system is made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion, and the fully enclosed design prevents splashing or mess. In the VPI tradition, all components are extra heavy-duty, professional grade for a long, trouble-free life. "I have found the HW-16.5 to be an outstanding performer. The record surfaces are microscopically clean and are so pristine they look new! -- Bert Whyte, Audio Magazine ****STEROPHILE PRODUCT OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER**** Clean your records with the HW-16.5 and hear what you've been missing. Mr Roberts taking the moral high ground ... Sorry back to topic please... Its about free events..

Some floors aint polished, some aint wood and no footwear will aid dancing at times without a little sprinkle... Maybe some go a little toooooooooooooooo far with the talc it seems... No need for it most of the time but a little sprinkle without blotting out the sun can help on the odd poor floor we get from time to time..
-
What about both .. The same can be said for many more soul singers and other artists too....
