  1. There are many many places that champion underplayed oldies mate, is that what you play??? collect???? For Kev H..... I think Mace said the term is trot over.... For the attention of Mr Trouble.... who decides on scrappage .... Would there be a department in the soul police that deal with this problem
  2. That post should keep the thread going another week now ..
  3. yes indeed mate.... That subject alone could keep this forum going for a good while... So many terms... I like underplayed and thinking mans oldies ....
  4. So another topic comes towards its end and we are no closer to finding the meaning of soul ... One thing that Daz said i think is important... The atmosphere at all niters... Nothing worse than seeing a room slowly die and nothing like the feeling of seeing a full dance floor at the last record... Not all niters can offer this anymore for different reasons i guess.... Multi room all niters are the way to keep all happy but its a real shame we can't all be in that same big room sometimes, seeing the huge dancefloor bursting with dancers, thats the kind of magic that cast a spell on me all those years ago... The problem is finding the music formula that will bring us all together and keep us happy, thats the holy grail and out of reach for many, so we have a mass of different events to cater for all our needs... This debate is not just a new v old debate though with regards to music and the scene, its a debate about all niters only and how to keep the magic going throughout the night.. As we said before, its good that promoters offer a choice or it would be civil war
  5. indeed Mossy.... i love it all and don't like the different camps but i think its an age thing, as some get older they have less tollerance of things.. I too am guilty of that i guess.... Don't hold back on my account mate..... i am only trying to keep the topics flowing in this section.. I aint the soul police just yet...
  6. Good to see passion Daz but some of your comments need expanding on... maybe an example of this " new shite" you talk about....... without telling us what this is and where you are hearing it.... End of the day, places like Stoke are packing them in on a diet of classic northern tunes in the main room, some other venues are catering for a different crowd and different tastes.. Let all do what you wanna do... you aint ever gonna have all folk in agreement on anything.... The oldies v something else debate again plenty of choice out there for all tatses, just do what you wanna do,,,, Sometimes we can all fall into a trap when we get into a rant while full of passion... We can start saying that what we think is the way it should be, that kind of outburst will have some waiting to knock you down for sure..... I think your note to all promters " take note, this is how it should be" was always gonna get some up in arms One life only... try and enjoy it the best we can.... Think its time for a few of us to get some kip...
  7. Maybe one toooooooo many off topics, maybe keep your comedy going in freebasing...

  13. Justin is only vg + at best, not whats required for wants... Maybe a dip in boiling water will bring him up a treat.... Good luck and let me know who is in the firing line for next husband
  14. You started the post Phil..... Discuss.... I bet it will be a little strange for some of them pupils to walk into a soul night today and see that little as changed apart from the age of the punters.... When we did history at school it was always about something from the past that remains in the past.. Good topic for the pupils, must be better than learning about victorian Britain or the rail roads like we did.... Would be interesting to see if any of the pupils follow this up and go along to a soul night...
  15. Not long to the show now, anymore members going along....
  16. The Doobie Brothers.... A blast from the past Joan.... showing your age now I think the reson it aint gone massive Paul is because its a very left field sound and not one that everyboy can get their lugs round... Not an easy record to do a boogie, thats boogie not Doobie I love it plus the b-side jjust rocks my deep ballad world for sure...
  17. I just quietly slipped in unnoticed....... sounds like one of them dvds from Tibb St Beeks.... Nothing wrong with an odd tit, we can't all be perfect
  18. There as always been an underground folk /acoustic scene... Manchester as been rich in that form of music since i came here in 1989... Don't reply though, that will have to be for yet another topic, in freebasing i guess Not a bad snatch at the snake from that bloke,.. Good sound quality, he just needs a little more practice and could get a few folk moist with his soulful voice and sweet moves
  19. Not sure Reg Can't keep up with the name changes.... Did he know Little Richard and used to knock around with the Bergmans???? Yes its come to me now... As anybody else met a future husband or wife on soul source...... Quiz question there maybe????????????
  20. Cheers Simon I can see how the site could seem daunting for some but once you chip in its fine, so many different places to lurk and with a make up of so many different creatures... I too thought it was for trainspotters only and thought they should get a life before i joined in 2004 .... Did not take me long to really get into it and as helped me meet so many folk that would have passed me by i guess... There will always be folk to help you out with all things soul and many things outside that in freebasing too... Its the first port of call for me each day too after my yahoo email... Teachers pet 2 xx
  21. Was talking to Andy Pollard/ Ted and Bob about this.. Them RnB boys are a doing it big time..... Not just the odd track but on many.... I think Ted also had an x mark on side of a record too thats another story
  22. Just added Ron Banks as a freind on facebook... He asking people to email him if they wanted to book the Dramatics... How spooky and really sad....
  23. Thanks Joko Was playing this tune of late.... really special, the top tune of my mate Dave, i will pass on the news... respect indeed.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFZcF4WIFkI
