They did have input before filming, asking for extra's/ dancers and other stuff.. They went underground when comments about them were negative.... I am sure you can find the thread , it was quite an epic...

Victoria asked me to add this topic befoe closing.. And thanks all the jokers too, she is game for a laugh... Wow what a reaction! Thanks Eddie and Ady for vouchingfor me and thanks to all the helpful people. So far I have been uptoHuddersfield where a professional dancer called Sharon Finch gave me a lesson. Then I went up to see Sue and Roger who kindly not only gave me a dance lessonbut a greater understanding of the music. A few people have come through too ffer to help and I will be in touch with you next week. Oh and I do live in Brighton but I am from Chester

The film makers are members on here Billy, they are welcome to reply... I am sure that i would if i was them... There are many questions they could come and answer if they wish, they could also put a few people straight if they think some are in the wrong... I would welcome some comment from, them, they came on here before filming and pushed the subject, they could come on again now at any point...

Maybe best to close this topic.. Not much coming forward of value.... I have sent melody video a message and others can pm her if you are available.. Check your message box Rachel... cheers

Or did the Polish have a very significant part to play in finding the enigma machine:rolleyes: Again we have so much hot air and we know next to nothing yet??? Lets hope it comes out soon , very soon..

good advice i think,,,

Maybe the impact of this film will depend on what kind of release we see, if as Paul says " it goes straight to dvd then a lesser impact than a big cinema release with the publicity that comes with it... It looks like other projects are gonna happen, maybe a good thing to compare style and all the other attributes with regards to film.. Will we see legions of kids in baggies and vests outside venues soon, some would hope so and be sure to cash in while others will feel like the scene is diluted... Very little impact to the rare soul scene but more of an impact on the established oldies events maybe... Not much in the way of publicity behind this project, or maybe i just aint looking in the right places...

Quality post... Is Phil looking for another venue or is the night to close, end of???

Crackin Up.. The Northern Soul Book
Little-stevie replied to Little-stevie's topic in All About the SOUL
Cheers Chalky Will give it a read after Lydia's done with it... -
Got a belated xmas gift from my new father in-law.. A book called Crackin Up by Maxwell Murray Its says... Sex Drugs and Northern soul on the front cover, not sure what my new father in-law is saying like On the inside page it starts.. "At the bottom of the road,i saw the Roman chariots sign above the entrance to the Golden Torch, in another few minutes i would be in there, i can't wait.. A rush of hot air, the smell of sweating bodies, cigarette smoke and various scents, some of them fragrant, hit me as i pushed through the glass doors.. Then a tingle of excitment raced up my spine- and it wasn't from the capsules i'd swallowed.. Decibels of raw energy were vibrating the air.. We paid our money over... 50p for members and 60p for guests... For 12 frantic hours of fantastic , foot stomping Northern Soul.. On the back cover..... Kenny Roberts has achieved his first ambition, to own a Lambretta scooter... His next will prove trickier, he wants to score with the boss's daughter, Maureen, before his best mate, Floyd beats him to it.. Against a background of violence, casual sex and brushes with the law, Kenny finds himself drawn to the tantilising flame of the underground Northern soul scene.. All niters and illicit drugs provide an escape from the drudgery of his job, he risks losing everything, even his life, when he has a surprise encounter with an old adversary... ]" this books got everything, steamy sex, sweet soul music, speed fuelled dancing and a twist in the tale Amazon reviews below... FIRST CLASS STORY OF YOUTH Absolutely brilliant..brought all the soulful memories flooding back. If you like Scooters, Skinheads, & Northern Soul, then buy this..It sums up the whole... If you've seen Quadrophenia you've read this. Disappointing On the whole I feel that the title promised more than the book delivered. If you've seen Quadrophenia then you don't need to read this book! I couldn't put this book down.. I'd heard that Crackin Up was good - but once I started it I had to read to the end. The characters were so real to me and the ending - well ..... I hope there's another book to follow I was involved in the northern soul boom years in my teenage years at Wigan casino. This book gave a good insight in the slightly earlier era of the Golden Torch which preceeded the casino a year earlier. The Torch seemed a more Mod's style club unlike the casino. But for readers who may have a interest in either the Northern soul scene or the UK's mod culture I found the book a good well written insight into it. Recomended for people with either interest or knowledge into either. Any feedback from members, not heard of this before.... Sounds like a nice light read... will let you know..

Tip Of The Iceberg? More To Come Or Scraping The Barrel?
Little-stevie replied to ImberBoy's topic in All About the SOUL
Top post Kev.... That feeling is really what gives me a buzz... No need for the god squad when we have moments like this... No offence to any bible bashers, i know its Sunday... Peace be with you my brothers and sisters.. -
Maybe a imho after quote Pete As you know Pete, a broad church of views on soul source... Maybe he can't see how you can say that Bobby Kline aint got soul Its a struggle to understand views that are on a different planet to our own but that what give these topics a bit of spice IMHO... Quadrophenia had a big impact on me, maybe it was the timing with us being 16 at the time and just getting into the mod/ soul scene/ scooters... Its been said many times... Many many pages already about this film and it aint out yet ... Lets see and then the real talk can start...

You should have just got in touch with your feminine side and go with the flow... Them lot do like a bit of rough

Who are the exploiters Johhny???? Or would that open a can of worms????? Maybe send me a pm if you don't mind, always like to know who the bad guys are There have been a few different gropups trying to put a soul film together, this one as won the race but i really hope it is not the only one we see.. I got to read a script after Function of the Junction short film that blew me away in the first two pages, it had the power and feeling to set my heart racing at the thought of this coming to big screen, not sure its gonna happen but can't help but feel this film will fall wayyyyyy short, but i am only going off mates who have seen the teaser last year and the few clips on here... This subject matter could fall well short because of budget among other things, cutting corners may not show up so much for the public outside the scene but could fall well short for many people who have lived this for many many years.... As i said before, just a feeling i have but will wait to see the finished product, if it falls short then i can't help feel its a great chance lost...The subject matter was always there just waiting for a great script and team behind it, lets hope this film can deliver, i really really hope it can

Northern soul for me was even hugging people like Dekka in Leeds shirts Soul can be the great healing force in life..... respect... ps... Stop trying to explain it, many have talked this way before and still we try and find the words..... Just get out there and feel it, when it hits you its a something that no words can do justice....
-
Yes indeed mate.. Got to find a new world.... epic epic soul track for me.... played it to many folk who did not know it, as they say, you can only know what you know.... Cheers for reply Paul... Its good to share this kind of stuff.. Jazz fags are working..... peace be with you my son....

Not sure i could look at that again, Levi was the first voice that got me on the road to soul heaven.. This is the kind of topic i like on this forum, something that touches the heart and brings people together, rather than bull shit that breaks us apart.. I have always been a soul man at heart and love to be stopped dead in my tracks by a tune, just stop and feel that moment... Been looking for this track on refo, no luck... Found it on youtube.... Just stop and listen.... at 1.32 the angels come in and there is a short flute burst... Then it just builds and the voice takes on magic proportions... soul indeed.. I could go on for the rest of my life on this topic alone.... Soul strikes me so deep, it rocks my world.... Gonna have a jazz fag now and dig some more have a listen.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c345pCd8pUc

Some good points of interest Rob.... I think some of the comments come from people who have seen the film already, they did a little screening session last year some time... Quite a few adverse comments have come not only from some who have seen the film but were also involved in the film.... I think some of these comments have put others off before they have even seen it.... As you say, let the music play before we pass any real comment.... Not long now i guess... Maybe the test screening was just that, maybe now they have changed some scenes???? i don't know, maybe some who were part of it can comment... I am sure there will be a thread of epic proportions once the films released, some will love it, some will hate it and some will be sat on the fence, just like many other topics on this forum...
