The same question posed so many times.... Some all niter promoters will take little or no notice of any established soul events and club some club promoters taking little or notice of clashes with established niters... And some niter promotions clashing with each other as rival promotions with their own agenda... Many things to sort out and think about but if promoters wish to put on events thats clash then who is be the judge of that???? what can be done???? People power rules... Its up to punters to decide as to what event they attend and what venues/ promoters they wish to avoid for any reasons.... There is fear/ ego/ greed/ selfishness/ hate/ spite/ Laziness and much more from some that promote, the problem with clashing will never be sorted if promoters don't sort things out among themself... Not easy at all.. Many moons ago you had far less djs/ promoters and many thousand of punters... Now its hundreds of djs with an ever diminishing pot of punters... Less crowd, more events, somethings got to give, not enough punters to go round... Some will continue and others will go under, just what life is like... Thats not gonna change but in the meantime i would like to see people having respect for others... Indeed.. Was aasking Derek last week about the next issue .. Come on DP.... We all loved Shades of Soul..... A lot As said above... Before the internet this kind of mag was just heaven and the wait for a next issue was like waiting for Santa as a child... Not sure where my copies are, maybe lost in moving or something, any back copies for sale out there ???

F£££$$% OFF mr Smith The 7" is pretty hard to come by it seems... Loved this track since i first heard it played at the Ritz mid 90s and so have most others i have played it to over the years.... Got my copy off a bloke who like Mr Smith thought it was shite .. Its a win win... Whats shite to them is heaven to me.... It fits in really well to a nice thought out set.... All this no a patch on Spyder bollocks... , you should always put IMO because thats all it is.... ps.. Love both versions, don't have to compare really, both so nice in different ways... I am a big Richie Havens fan too, mabe thats why it means so much to me... Anyway.. Back to the question, as anyone got a copy for sale??

Are you talking from experience mate I think Joan got it about right... Don't let the fools know they have got you, then they will just craw back under a stonel with any luck.. Weekend time and the soul nights are for having a good time i think... Stay away from any negative vibes, find the folk you wanna be with, dig the tunes and keep away from the people who like the darkside...

depends where it is mate.. I and others have played many clubs that we aint been to as a punter i guess, too many events and you can't get to them all... Events near home are different but you could be playing anywhere in the uk or overseas too... It can be a thrill to play new places at times, the unknown and all that but sometimes it can go tits up because you don't know what the locals want... A chat with the promoters, the swapping of cds/ playlists can help avoid the locals trying to kick you to death in the carpark after you clear the floor for an hour at midnight.. Anyway that aint really the question on this topic... Is there anymore to be said on dj fees... Good topic starter and question..

Maybe we have to have a people counter for folk on the dancefloor ... A dj could ask all his mates to up dancing to his set, then he could command a good fee Its pretty sorted as it is, imo..

Yet again we have a all this shite and guff on the main page.... Wiggy,, your postings had nothing at all to do with the topic, just off on a rant again, you will have to learn that the topic title is there for a reason.... Your offer of an emergency box of oldies for guest dj have a think at them comments and how some will view your promotion... Some would say, book a dj who as got the records you require, simple... Mr Roberts.... You are playing at taking the moral highground again, only he who is witthout SIN can hope to reach it.. That Halo aint in place just yet.. You have the right to counter any comments against you but would ask that its in a different topic and keep this one on topic, the same for any making comments against Goldsoul/ or others, you can start a topic with your own title and have your little bouts... No big deal with dj fees for most.... You tell the dj what he/ she will pick up for the event, if the djs agree then they come and play and get paid simple.... If a night is not doing to well and the dj decides he don't want a fee, then its up to him i guess... Most things are better sorted before and event and then all know where they stand...

I can see this topic turning into an epic .. It could dwarf the Levine threads for sure ..... If there anyway of putting a runnning list together after every page??? then folk can post up tunes with duplicating, as it grows not all will have time to read through the whole thread i guess.. Its just based on a soul night indeed... Not in the past or future.. It was filmed in London with a selection of folk from the soul scene and a few jazz dancers also.... Can you spot Mr Gibbs in his original spencers , that top button was really a struggle i think Good times and nice to see it again.....
