Should Debate Be Allowed On Sales Posts?
Little-stevie replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Or Shite.... -
You make some very good points.. A slice of social history indeed....

Freebasing sales for that mate... Any more replies from folk wanting it could send this way off topic..... Sounds good though.... get it up in sales section....
-
Most i met on the scene were fine but enough of the other sort to have me wanting away.... I guess this topics more about the northern soul at scooter rallies V on the main northern soul scene... The far right herberts who get moist to black music is best left for another day, it could open up some wounds that would need some serious moderation..... Of course the politics are there on the Northern scene too but left at the door i have found.... Never had any problems at Northern soul events in all my time...

Plenty folk have let stuff go and did not know the flip contained a great soul record.... I am sure b-sides as been covered in back topic?????? My mates take great pleasure in playing great flips of my records that i did not know, its called the " f"cking got you game" I dod try and dig out a few from time to time and flip them... Found a good few great flips of late, its like getting a new record... It does help that i like deep soul/ crossover/ ballads too.. That does increase the chance of finding some great tunes..... A great b-side find was Fall on me by Dean Parrish, a fantastic deep soul ballad thats got the lot for me, its on the flip of Tell Her... Different flip on some issues... Deep soul again.. The flip of Eddie Giles... Losing boy..... The flip of Eugene Gaspard, Holding on... The flip of Johnny Watson, its better to cry.... The day i flipped the exits and found under the street lamps ... My mate doing a f"cking got you with Lorraine Rudolph flip side, wow that really got me..... Royal Esquires was in a goood few sales box but came back out when they heard the real soul flip that pulls at your fooking heart strings... Thats just a few with deep/ midtempo flips.... When you find a real storming dancer then its xmas indeed.. Could go for ever.. A topic without an end i guess..... Maybe my top topic of all time.... Now i have a flip at least every other day of a few tunes.... Some have said they always flip but i have known them to get caught out many times... Maybe some good person could find the other topic on b-sides...

Been chatting to a few folk of late about the scooter scene in the past, its been a part of so many of our lives in some way.... Always thought i would like to get another scoot and try a few out again but with these far right pricks still about its best i stay away... I have seen them since very early 80s at ska gigs/ Jam Gigs/ scooter rallies/ Mod Events etc etc... White power on scooter panels at Scarboro/ Morecambe ... Was a real shame as it was a big part of my life but enough is enough after Yarmouth late 80s.... So many good folk but enough of these clowns , they were left unchecked and created a cancer for me in the scooter scene... Many lads did not like them but put up with it, i am sure many on here have known or still know some of these... I was fooked on two fronts, in the late 80s i was still more mod influenced on the scooter scene, a time when they scooter boys were targeting mods at rallies, and i was black...... I was spat at and called all the names you can think of, did not tell my mates as would have caused more problems with them sticking up for me, had enough of that on the footie casual scene also.... It was time to go full tilt into the soul scene.... A certain code of conduct exists on the soul scene that was not there at soul events on the scooter scene for me.... Simple really... If thats a soul snob then guilty guilty guilty

Australian National Soul Weekender Nov 12 - 14
Little-stevie commented on Sunnysoul's article in News Archives
I too had a great time out there a few years ago when thhe event was in Brisbane, they really know how to look after you.. Another trip over one day for sure..... Mabe best take the barmy army out of the advert mate, not sure they are a plus point Best of luck mate and thanks for the open invite.. I will take you up on it someday..... Can you pm me.... I am looking to do a feature on overseas soul events.... If any of you aint met Johnny Red Pants then get over to Ozzie weekender, he is an institution like Skippy and Fosters.... Good luck with the event, i know how much goes into putting this together... God bless the Ozzie soul scene.... -
Left the scooter scene around 1990, the music always came first for me..... Away on rallies with the boys i did enjoy for a time but away for a quality soul event of a weekend was number one... I found plenty more making the choice.... For some is was the scooters and others the soul music.... Some kept scooters but just kept away from rallies that did not give them a quality soul event, i was pissed off at scooter soul niters, dead bodies in sleeping bags, piss heads, right wing boneheads, beer bottles on the dancefloor, northern soul cheesy standards from the djs etc etc etc... The real decider was a LCGB Scooter all niter in Peterboro with Eddie Holman playing live and many many doing the Nazi salute while he was singing .. Not my idea of soul... Plus Great Yarmouth late 80s, black artists on stage at all niters and boneheads in the crowd, again not mi idea of soul heaven... Kept in touch with quite a few on the scooter scene in uk, Ireland, Germany etc, pretty much the same thing with scooter events being mainly about the scooters and piss up first and then some cheesy classic soul/ mod tunes along with Indie thrown into the mix.... Many thousands of folk enjoying both but not at the same events.... Live and let live aint it.... Never been to Isle Of White, was at Brighton weekend 2 years ago and then again this weekend... Talked to quite a few who used to go to IOW but Brighton is better for the music for them....

Thinking about this simon i know the kind of person you talk about, cant really do anything about a desperate one who seems to be begging, some folk play it that way and dont realise its as plain as day.. Wait to be asked i say but some folk do it another way.. Good to see in brighton mate, that was something special indeed. Ps....................My box is ready for action again now, please please tell the promoter, tell the world, i am willing, able and desperate, my dj name is gonna be Martini from today
-
Very hard to use a sweeping generlisation on all that show thanks in lookback, some are showing manners and feel humble at the chance to play. Maybe you will have to give us an example simon of a desperate dj or is it any of us who post any feedback..

Martha Reeves Getting All Cocky In Record Collector
Little-stevie replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Sad to read this... Met her and had a chat a few years ago, i gave her a present and we had a chat.. A real proud moment.. A bitter statement from a lady who as done so much.... Saying all that, can we trust what we read in a magazine/ newspaper.... who knows.... I have been meaning to get back in touch with her, if i do then i will ask her if the statement is true.. I would also let her know the feeling on here about it all.. -
waste of time posting that .... Wigan will always be a topic while there is a soul scene.... I just avoid a topic with Wigan in the title most of time, you can do the same..... Nice to see young actors getting together for any stage performance, look forward to the feedback....
