Roger Banks... Was showing me the way with 60s newies in the 80s... Times when you did follow a dj around from venue to venue.. Howard Earnshaw ( Soul Up North Editor ).. Gave me my first little dj spot in very early 80s.... Plus he took us under his wing as we were little pups... Pip.... Gave me something one night that kept me going past 4am.... The rest is history... Ady Croasdell.. 30 years of my kind of soul at the 100 club..... Mike Hughes... His time and dedication in bringing us this soul forum.. Its brought me in touch with people who will be friends for life... And a few that will never get on my xmas card list John Malone.... Gave me the introduction to Northern Soul and my first all niter at Queens Hall Bradford... Not sure what dj.. But the one who played Tempests " Someday " at one of my very first all niters at Queens Hall, that tune took me on the path towards my Northern Soul future... The tune still stands the test of time for me.... Jo Wallace/ Jumpin Joan.. For proving that you don't need balls to be up there on the big stage... Parr Hall Warrington.... For maybe the best moments in my northern soul life... last but never least.. The most important thing.. All the people i have met along the way.. The community of special needs that can't be put into words..

Do You Have A Signature "last Song" Of The Night?
Little-stevie replied to Ljblanken's topic in All About the SOUL
To many it is a high Peggy... It can be the highlight of a set sometimes... Many fond memories of great ballad enders from over the years... We know you keep on about your pounding uptempo , also those that like a good WRIST SLASHER thrown in I have a few tracks that end sets, depends on the venue/ crowd and music policy.. I think its about finding your own signature really, something that means so much to you and gets the required reaction from the crowd too... 3 from me... William Hunt................................... "Would you believe" Ritchie Havens..................................." I can't make it anymore" Baby Washington................................" It will never be over for me " -
God knows indeed ...

Manchester weekender???? any details... Don't think i have heard about this one???? And more weekenders in the planning for 2011 i hear.... A full guide to 2011 weekenders would be of interest to many i guess... In the uk and Europe... Maybe promoters want to forward details... Its all about planning well in advance for many now with work/ family/ etc etc etc...

Looks like you are king of the divs then Paul with such a high score... Good to see you got a lot out of the experience, aint that what film is about Thats the great thing about film, it can have such a different affect on us all... Got some great feedback on the topic and a good cross range of views.... Like i said before, people with little or no attachment to this film or others are the ones who seem to really seem to have good things to say about soulboy... Very much like the soul scene don't you think, people who are just punters can have the best experience, they just pay at the door and look for the entertainment, people who are djs, promoters, record dealers etc can have a different agenda and not get the same experience... Great post soul ninja/ Jem..... Glad to see you are doing something about it.... Enjoy, get out there and have the time of your life.. A post said put this topic to bed, no need as yet with some good feedback coming through and plenty more to come i should think... Give us your views, all welcome but remember its just your view only and others may think a different way........ Its called FREEDOM!

A subject that goes round and round.. Good points from Brett... Some fools don't really take on board whats on around them before starting another night, others do know but choose to clash events for various reasons... We see this time and time again... Can't stop people doing what they wanna do but can talk and be on good terms if possible with other promoters.. Like Brett said, just got to get on with your own event and make sure its as goood as it can be, get on the promotion and leave the worry of other events to others, this cn cause stress and take up time you could be putting in to your promotion.... Many punters long in the tooth now and don't wanna travel outside their local area, they chooose to stay close to home and in variou but maybe smaller events... Numbers can mean something to one promoter who is running alarge venue, it could mean f£ck all to others who run small rare soul events... I have had a better time in my living room with 8 people than in a room of 1,000... Numbers mean nowt to me most of the time but its good to be in a venue thats busy wit a real buzz, i get to both on my trips around the scene.. I know have a venue that holds 100, i like it that way, a small event with low costs and a nice little crowd with open ears, not much pressure on me and so i can put my efforts into looking for quality djs from around the uk and beyond.. Try to make every event the best ever, not always possible but at least it will mean you have your eye on the ball and have done what you can... Like Cunnie says, its promoters and djs who seem to hog the complaints, the punters just get on with it in the main.. Too many folk wanna dj but not enough events and time to fit you all in.. Maybe drop your dj bookings, time off can re-charge the batteries and help take a look at what tunes you wanna bring forward... Residents at soul nights is a problem too, with the best will in the world its tough to keep the punters moist on every trip with regular guys that have been playing at events for some time, less residents and various guests can keep folk interested and bring more punters... I now choose to have 1 resident for stability, play myself at times,( late shift at niters, early shift at soul event), give the main time to the guests and resident if possible.. Enough time taken on this now... Go easy, dj less and just get out there and have fun folks.... Long time dead....

The idea of cash towards saving the 100 club on facebook needs looking at before any cash is put into it... Maybe a person can get the figure needed to cover the extra rent, a figure that can be looked at, no point just pouring cash at something that can't make a dent in the sum needed.. Then that cash don't get wasted and just end up in the hands of the greedy bastard landlords... A little time needed to take stock and stop all the keyboard bulls"it maybe.... Soul Jihad.. " Thats what i hate about the soul scene "??? how do know about all the soul scene and how we feel?? have you been all over this land and overseas too, have you met so so many of people that you can make a call on the " the soul scene ".. Some make these calls based on a few posts on a forum, the scene is bigger than whats posted on a forum.... Times are tough for me and many on the work front, lets see some figures and whats required before we think of sending some cash, it could just line a bottomless pit and be no help at all.....

The other films coming up will start to get a little more spotlight i guess... Any are welcome to start a new topic with regards to others projects, lets just keep this clear for feeback and reviews on the Soulboy film.... Plenty more reviews to come as the film picks up more shows around the country.. Its the reviews that i look for.. There are scores of 1 and scores of 10 ... Would like to see a review from any who have scored 9/10, would be of great interest to me that you had a cinematic moment that rates among the greatest of all time..... cheers....

Cheers.. Will have look on ebay... To the others... Can't believe you mock such a topic as the lassie and the lost soul treasure ... This could be a sensation to rock the soul world.... Hidden soul gems on the flip of childrens stories.... Gonna check my Andy Pandy picture disc and others, maybe a Frank wilson hidden on the flip... You lot can mock, maybe my mate will have the last bark

Just got a record off my mate downstairs.... One for the collectors maybe... Its a book and record of Lassie the dog... 24 page story book and record.. A side is Lassie and her day in the sun.. A typical story about Lassie The b side lable says... Lassie the conclusion.. And guess what plays.... Something groovy going on by Gwen Mccrae .. The 70s soul ballad from this lady of soul.... A mis- press i guess... Lable says Peter Pan records 1999.......1977 Any info on this record please.. Could it be worth the 10p paid from a charity shop or a mis-pressed treasure that he can cash in..... Over to you folks.... and it aint April fools....
