  1. Many not thinking it would be the business waited to see it on dvd, they did not have to "go".. Still gonna be plenty of feedback as members get to see this now on dvd, keep it on topic as a review and mark it if you wish in the poll, plenty of other topics open on this already to talk about other soul film related stuff ... Keep em coming..
  2. Sunday all niter with 400 peeps at Brighton weekender in August... A better time behind the decks i can't remember.. A real up for it crowd of all ages and good crowd from Europe..
  3. An impossible question as ever.... Hear new tracks all the time that give me that feeling.... But as its a new year i will have a pop.... Yet again i am drawn to Johnny McCall..... I need you baby.. A breathtaking slab of what i think soul is all about.. This is still up there on my top shelf.... The problem is hearing this when i am out someplace, many soundsystems are shite and can kill it for me, tunes with so much soul and depth that fails to come accross at times on a poor quality PA... Was gonna take the soundfile from Refosoul but its a poor recording and don't do this justice... Happy new year to all who love this thing we call soul... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUBedaVpH2g
  4. I think you have all been had, it was a joke you did not pick up on.... Look at all them cowboys in the background, that should have been a clue Take a chill pill. you have all been game for a laugh... spaghetii western meets the very early brit pop with the shadows on backing...
  5. No comeback yet Darren from mates... Good luck with it all...
  6. Good on you boys.... Contact me after New Year mate.. I will send a few of tunes your way, i know what its like to lose tunes.. Post a list of the kind of stuff you like on here mate... I am sure a few can give the postie a little something for you... We all have some stuff thats gathering dust... Regards Steve
  7. Plenty folk with a great great passion for this little old niter, a passion they aint ever got anyplace else.. Job done from the Burnley team. they have forged their own piece of soul history for this.. Only went once and can't really give my own take on the place apart from every tune was a train from hell, coming down the mountain and loaded with tnt Uptempo ghetto soul with a funk/gospel/ RnB side salad thats been spit roasted in hell.... Knowing Karl as i do, i would have a good idea of whats a Burnley tune... As would many others... Pat could not put all that on the sleeve and just said " a Burnley sound "
  8. Spencer Wiggins... Lonely man... Got a mate asking for a copy, don't have to mint, just for playing out i guess... send me a pm if you have one.. cheers
  9. "Jealousy is the word to all these roumers, you will never pull the crowd Roberts is simple! Its Rumours ... whats that about pulling a crowd?? and why is Roberts simple??? A break for supper and back later for Baby girl to tell us some facts..
  10. Swapped a few??? how many baby girl, you seem to be very very very close to the real facts... " you will never pull a crowd " are you talking to Kev Kent??? i think you could be the joke baby girl or whoever whoever you are " he accepted a fine" ?? did he have a choice?? The FACTS on the case will stop all this bull, stop talking in forked tougue and give us the facts.. Then we can move forward...
  11. Baby Girl... Have you introduced yourself???? as a new member.. If not then a few words of introduction makes it that little bit more polite
  12. And you miss the point with posts like this... Its the hypocrisy of posting last week on the bootlegging thread he said " giveaway cds is killing the scene and its not legal " while at the same time being in court on these charges.. KTF or whatever you want... The timing of his comments was the oxygen to the fire.. I think we are very aware James as to what goes on, so why the need to put it in print on this public forum Would be pot kettle for many to take the moral highground, its the posts on bootlegging and Kev warning some of us that we are killing the scene with these cds .. I can't think of any number of free cds killing what i think is the scene... They could be hurting those that make a business of selling cds, is that the " scene' Pete Smith/ Kev Roberts... If many are wide of the mark with regards to the facts then don't you think it wise to put them straight ???? it could stop certain posts on this topic running away with themself?????
  13. Dear Sam... A voice from my early memories and still so wonderful today... Can we ask that WHEN REFO is up again, you can download plenty of Sams tunes from there... It should be back up soon, just do a check when looking to download... His take on this classic just blows me down... The double bass is a funeral march and listen to the angels on backing.. Haunting and soulful, just as i like them...
  14. Great read for me Eddies, and well constructed.. I too was in a band in the 90s and we were held back with recordings as the studio was was out of our reach with finance... We had to save and scrapethe cash together... Many views and opinion on this thread, was always gonna be that way... We will keep an eye on this and urge folk to think before they post, just taking a few extra seconds to engage the brain does have its advantages..
  15. Is there a disclaimer or something that covers the carver business and puts the legal issue upon the customer??? Of interest to folk as the carver business is second nature now....
  16. Stafford stands out... As does the soulboy have you seen it thread.. Can see that getting hits/ posts for a long while as members get to see the film... It will/ could be used as a benchmark to all films that come along on the theme of northern soul.. A great divide of thought/ interest/ passion for this film makes it stand out for me...
  17. A thread in its own mate... Many have a different number 1....... Bill board voted Linda Jones number 1, read/ heard that someplace the last 12 months... A pretty good call.... If any can find past threads then i and others would be interested in that... These types of thread are just the ticket for Sunday nights.... Will keep this topic on Lady Franklin... Will keep an eye out for any updates...
  18. good call mate.... Sometimes this bug gets you straight away and other times its a slow burner... Its a tough strain of bug thats hard to fight off... Some great feedback on this thread and posts from a good cross section of members... Some great in-sights and food for thought
  19. Very clever.. An academic link to Primark and its dealings with sweat shops....
  20. plus a f"cking hammer Had the same happen to me a few years back.... Good luck Craig, lets just hope they can turn up... Steve
  21. same for many i should think.. Always loved Aretha....
  22. Hope you did not mind me quoting you Steve.. Yes its started something... Some good insight coming from the thread.. Don't think you will be getting death threats The tongue in cheek comments without emoticons like etc etc do stir the hornets nest at times... was wigan the real start of the badges on clothing/ bags?? or did this come from elsewhere??? was it a gradual thing or did it explode overnight..???
  23. The lennis guess.. Just ask me on S.P.Q.R.. Seen them on ebay, not sure if boot or not??? I have one from years back, think its the boot??? not too sure though.. Is the boot a lookalike on the same colour of lable??? is the boot worth much???
