We have been here many times.. Can the topic starter tell us what they mean by young please.... I take it you mean teens, just like many of us were getting into this scene... I would say with the average age of punters around mid 40s then i would say 16 to 25 is young... Hell, i have been called a "young" the odd time too :lol:

A mixed year on the soul front.... With the birth of my my 1st baby i have joined the growing old dads club..... Can't remember many weekends since i was 17 spent at home, seems a little strange to be at home and in bed while folk are out dancing to the devils music... Had to turn down many invitations to play music and dance... No worry, still getting out to a few events... My own club is finding its feet as we keep looking to push the music we want with a mix of djs from around the UK and Europe, happy with events and the feedback... Onwards to 2013 and always looking out for more djs/ collectors with their own taste to share with us.. A highlight this year was to play the 100 club and have the support of good loyal freinds, the best buzz is still to be in a hot and sweaty dark place at 5am in the morning with like minded people.... Another highlight to play a mix bag of sounds at events in Sweden and other places, always nice to get out and about meeting old freinds and making new ones.... Good to see a good few independent small rare soul clubs really making a mark with a younger crowd, Manchester/ Leeds/ London etc... Got to keep doing what we are doing spread the gospel.... Apart from Radcliffe and and 100 club i have missed out on niters this year, look at the feedback but many times that can give a one sided take on events, you have to be there i guess to really know whats going on..... More nights in have had me listen to much more of my own collection, sometimes we forget what treasures we have... Still a big buzz to spend time alone digging through old boxes and albums to find more hidden gems and forgotten or never played before flipsides... I like a mixed bag from deep soul onwards a the joy of a mixed vinyl collection :yes: .. Still helping Howard Earnshaw out and pushing copies of the long running Rare soul fanzine Soul Up North, his devotion along with Colin/ Shirley and others is something special.... They are up to No77 now with the new edition, a great achievment indeed.. Had my low points but always bounce back.. I count my blessings to have good health/ family and soul freinds around me, can't dwell in self pity as i see the RIP and deaths on a daily basis now of those that gave us the music and many followers also... I have been to funerals and weddings in the same week, thats life i guess... Looking forward to 2013 and spending more time dancing, playing tunes and talking bollocks to anyone who will listen... :lol: Happy holiday and all the best for 2013... Its.... Soul Or Nothing...

On this basis he could still bring out a new book every few years and show us the how Beggin and a few more tracks have changed places :sleep3: Have a bit of class just for once Mr Goldsoul, it aint all about you and your bank account... You do what you do very well but just need to have a little grace.... This topic, just like the concept of the book is well past its sell by date..

Most of us have the 1st book i should think , was a very good book indeed and one i would go back to time and again... I did look at the second edition but no need to buy.... Don't worry Mr Roberts, there are plenty folk who will still feed your ego and your bank account.. This topic will make sure of that as you know will all the hits and bumps its getting... I will take up your offer of a signed copy if you come up with a new idea for a book.. :hatsoff2:

A very good point Nick, i really wish i had some good snaps to look back on from my early days on the scene, as you say, the quality is very very poor, mine included... I really wish there had been someone to take thew time to get some quality snaps but as you said, too busy dancing and getting wasted .. Gonna be interesting to see what Brian comes up with.. As with anything soul related and topic related we will have those that are in favour, indifferent and negative, thats life... Look out for Brian folks if he is at a venue near you, he is a good guy and knows not to get in the way, he seems to get what he wants without too much fuss.. Remember film crews of the past wanting to capture footage for tv etc, these f"ckers were a pain in the arse with wanting to light up the dance floor and invade our space ..

Welcome to Soul Source Brian... I have seen already 1st hand what you are about and its gonna be a great project.... Love the quote from Chalky about lifeline photos .... Good luck with the project and look forward to the finished product and seeing how you go along the way.... To have the chance to capture what is the greatest ever underground music scene, is a blessing indeed....

If there is a photo of that Dave it would be gold dust...
