  1. I love many styles and tempo and have always wanted to hear a cross section in the same venue, to do this we needed the multi room niter/ weekender to gives us a mix, i would love to hear it all in the same room but understand that i'm in a minority.... The growth of the smaller venues away from the Niter scene fills my needs for a more diverse mix..... This is where i get my true soul fix in its many forms.... Where next???? all the music is out there being played from early RnB to Modern and all stops in between around the uk and Europe, maybe not in big room niters but thousands of smaller venues.... There as been a recent rush on the gospel/ funk edge of soul for sure, something i have loved and embraced for a long time.. Some of this may filter into the mainstream northern rooms but i aint counting my chickens.. No worry, the small venue scene is alive and kicking and me and many others are having as much fun as we ever did... If we are talking where is the music going for the all niter scene main rooms ??then no place fast by the looks of things.... Good topic indeed....
  2. I hate you bleeders who can remember it all... I don't remember getting there or leaving and not a lot inbetween

  8. A northern soul conspiracy comes to Mansfield ....
  9. Not getting out of late and missing out on so much, some would say too much with the ammount soul events/ niters/ mini miters/ all dayers... Let us all know how your Easter experience was???? plus it would be good to get a punters viewpoint and not just the djs/ promoters who seem to make most of the comments each time...
  10. I remember at Prestatyn in the main room Jo Jama getting played maybe 4/5 time in one night on the same stage ... Yes indeed it was flavour of the month and each of the djs had a copy.... It was a cock waving exercise by each dj i guess with little thought for anyone else...
  11. Thanks to the support of guys like Mickey we can pursue our love for real soul music.... He was a regular at the events i put on and i will miss seeing you sat there in your own little world taking in the music... Last time i saw you was when you were at my little girls head wetting afternoon, strange to think i will never hear that voice again... I hope to be there to pay my respects when ( if its a public service ).. Steve/ Lydia xxxxx
  12. I knew a few folk who would see him every Feb for his regular gig, always been a dream of mine to go over for that event, will have to do it soon i guess, time is passing... Jerry Butler and his voice have played a big part in my soul life... Thanks for the info John, if you or others have any photos, video of his performance from this or other years then please post, i am sure plenty of us would love to see them... Freinds told me he sang one of my fav deep tracks at past events, did he sing it this year John???
  13. Thanks very much..... That puts that to bed i guess
  14. I aint dealing with the USA anymore, the postage and customs are just too much... A shame really as had some great bargains.. I guess the customs had to get on the case eventually, we had it good for a long time.....
  15. Cheers Agent.. Will check up on that story... Any other shouts on this, maybe he had a ice cream van, or maybe thats bollocks too
  16. If Jim talking bollocks , sounds a good enough reason indeed???
  17. Did Jerry Butler just take the Ice Man name from his 1968 album " Ice Man Cometh " or was it a nickname before that??? why the name Ice Man??
  18. A changing world indeed, people move from one medium to another... As Dean said though, a poor look back or little or no chat does not mean the night was a flop.... Maybe the bubble as burst for many that used to post comments feedback, yes indeed the likes of facebook , mobile alerts to your phone, now twitter etc etc etc, other options came available... Maybe some feedback on here can sort a few things out and give Mike/ Mods a way to make changes to give it a tweak.. But as Mike said, the views are still as strong if not stronger, its just the posts that have dropped away.... I miss the banter on events chat on here, its the place that many 1st came together.. With the ammount of members and events its was always gonna happen, with the shear volume then something as to give and things are bound to change....
  19. At a very early age... Super Bad album..
  20. ..............................................................................................A very good point and well made...... What does the poll starter think on this question.
  21. I brought up the very same question a few years ago on here and got my head bitten off Have you got a tin hat ready..
  22. Had to cut back to a few thousand 45s and lps with limited space at the moment My vinyl is for playing at home or when out as a dj.... The only system i have now is that i got rid of all the ( what i thought ) not worthy and only keep those that rock my world,, It means i can pick anything off the shelf and get satisfaction from it... I know there are stamp collectors out there who treat their colection like a new born baby but i treat my vinyl like my women.. Rough
  23. Jesus, that list takes some beating...... 1....The Casuleers is still in my room 101 list... How would i want to f"cking DANCE DANCE DANCE 2....One wonderful moment... That would the second this shite ends.... 3.... Nick nack give that Paddy a Wack.... Many more worse than this i guess but that will do for now.... ps... That seven day fool, ooooooooooooh it hurts my ears so much but loved by many....
  24. I have some of my fav albums in frames... Urban outfitters do the lp frames and pretty nice too in plain black with glass too.... Around £10 each, can use them for other stuff too, 45s and ticket stubbs, flyers etc.... Its a chain store i guess??? on Market st in Manchester... Maybe there is one in Leeds.. Hope that helps mate...
  25. That will wipe away the January Blues...... Mrs Mills did some obscure underplayed stuff also....
