  3. Hi Wendy Hope you are well from the king of the mid tempo...glad to see you are alive and well...
  4. One of the first tunes i remember was Night Owl at Queens Hall Bradford in 81...me and the Mod crowd from Huddersfield got the last Bus to Bradford after a day on the Beer..It was gonna be are first all-niter and a night to remember...If you could picture it now..a bunch of young lads all asleep before 3am with a belly full of beer...the song said"here come's the night owl, walking through the door"we lasted about 3 hours but soon got the hang of it...The good lord told me to stay away from the fire water and go see the man in the corner with the eyes of an owl...
  5. Thanks Lisa...Words can't say what i think of you xxx
  6. You have 70s tune i hear????
  7. Only a joke Johnny..White Texan trailor park trash that one...I did buy it back in 1982 though before i really found out what soul was..
  8. Cheers for the reply Karen, i got the wrong thread..If any Stafford tapes out there people then let me know....cheers..
  9. I think that " nine times out of ten" Muriel Day....and great soul ballads like that shoul still be the floor fillers..ooooh the memories...I will ask big daddy to give it a spin at Halifax this week.. Come on....
  10. Do any of you remember that dance that came in late 80s...After Stafford a lot of very slow ballads started to get a play and most people left the dancefloor..I remember these guys who loved em..the slower the better....this was the dance...Feet that scarcely moved, hands tight in a fist held out front, eyes closed very tight, bum just shuddered a little and twitch in the upper body..I called the dance man going for shit...not many really slow ballads get a play now but last Sat at the 100 club "i heard Let me down easy" and i was the man doing the going for a shit dance...what a tune, that really made my night..
  11. Hi Karen Is it cheeky of me to ask for a copy of the Stafford tape???? i can give you something in return..

  13. Hi Mike Thanks for the link.I will have a copy very soon Mike and i can put it on a tape or cd for you...I have always been a fan of the Lou Rawls version and play it out a lot, this version is more soul/gospel but a winner for sure and a rich tune for the dance floor...Its great now that we don't need 100 mph stompers to fill the floor, everybody is finding mid tempo deep soul gems that have gone unplayed and long may it last...I will spin the tune at the Ducie this month..
  14. Just heard Clara Ward version of the Lou Rawls "dead end street"...can anyone put me on to it..I heard it off an album and not sure if its on 7 inch...Album on Capitol with a re-issue on Pickwick... Thanks...
