  1. But you use a pigeon hole for other things .. oops sorry.. Back on topic.....
  2. Here we go again.... Much Northern is very rare and very much battered to death... I think getting up this morning was a bad idea.... One mans oldie can be another mans new rare soul tune Sad to see that Billy Smarts as come along and turned much of what we love into a circus... Now we have to look for different terms....
  3. That made me smile on a wet and windy morning... Most of us are closer to our bus pass than our teens, plenty choice out there for us all, do it while you can.... I know what i want and i know where to find it, most folk are the same i guess... The topic starter goes walks into this handbag joint looking for something real, i ask why???? with a thought for 5 seconds and a sniff around you should be able to detect what it is and go find your needs elsewhere... You can't hold this experience up as much really.... Its like me walking into Greggs looking to buy a quality Rump Beef sandwhich, it aint gonna happen.. ... Plenty choice out there for all tastes if you know your food.. Peace x ps.... I have been putting on rare soul events for many moons in clubs/ bars round Manchester, always looking to play something a little more progressive, mix it up and away from the same old.... I was called a handbagger in the street by this guy who only went to very much oldies all niters and danced to the same tunes he danced to in his teens at Wigan.... Its a funny old game.....
  4. Sorry for delay... Sold copies posted out 1st class today.... Paypal available but use the gift option please...

  6. Issue 80 out now Read more for the full... score Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  7. I think Mick Clements as just taken away your dark cloud Tezza...
  8. Is there a local soul crowd for an event in Copenhagen/ Denmark.. Its a country I ain't been to and have never met Danes on the soul scene..
  9. To stand behind the decks and play something that gives you a big twitch and gets little or no reaction is tough to take Tezza.. I would have to choose with care when taking a booking to DJ..... Some if the best tunes to my ears have had the tumbleweed affect at times... No matter how good a tune, if they don't know it then they don't dance....
  10. Maybe depends on the area.. Some places are more open minded than others.. You need to play at venues that you know give scope for tunes outside the classic northern bracket... What club/ Area are you talking about???? Plus..... Never post anything moody till at least Wednesday when you head is clear, that's the day after suicide Tuesday... Plenty clubs and promoters looking for DJs that do something a little different.. Any DJs like this are welcome to message me, always looking for different DJs with a little flare( not in the trousers)...
  11. Good medication... Keeping a good space between other weekenders, not easy as they seem to be every other week... Quality venue and 2 rooms for various styles.. Getting people to help on promotion who know how to get a real buzz going.. Mixing quality local DJs with European guests who still get people moist with a range of sounds....Budget flights and affordable hotels/ apartments....That will do for starters...Live acts makes no difference to me and many others....Holding event in a city/ Town with some culture too, good places to eat and sightseeing, I am talking of Euro weekends only..
  12. I thought the site was for dullards with no life when my partner at the time used to tell me about soul source, then one day I dipped my toe in and started a life of trawling the rare soul scene in all its glory.. It helped me get my events really up and running and bringing together a bunch of folk who have become mates for life...Had a short stint at the moderation side, not an easy task as you have to eyes in the back of your head, hats off to all the team.....Its soul or nothing... x
  13. Plenty good soul nights too Imber that don't turn into a circus.... Keep your curtains closed chin strikers, the circus is big business and gonna get bigger with the release of the film......
  14. I did see a split second of my gimp face.... Can i claim any compo for that..
  15. Lee Brackett... More than happy to dance to it at its normal speed ...
  16. Room 101 for KTF....
  17. 3 from me.... I thought i would be watching from behind the sofa but not a bad effort and some of that passion that got us all hooked did shine through.. I will let Paul Mason off as he as been away for all these years.... It made it look like its just teenagers or 50 somethings, Wigan and then nostalgia scene.... We know there is so much more inbetween to this thing called soul....
  18. Just seen the comments from Sooty and how his 1st real soul experience came in 1992, that would make him 31 going by his profile.... Interested to know of other folks who came onto the scene in later years... For me and most I would guess its was in our teens that we got hooked.... Always a joy to read the journey folk take into this thing called soul...
  19. Brought back my youth in a flash and made me glad I gave so much of my life to soul music.. So much more to the scene that still needs to be told but a decent effort and did not have to watch it through my fingers... 7.5/ 10..... I am still waiting for that true feeling I felt then and still feel now to be shown and captured on film....
  20. Any more examples of the Satans work folks, some good points so far...
  21. What place are you talking about Jim?? if you can't name then message me...
  22. ... Can you not go to a place where you can hear the tunes on your cd?? Does that place exist??
  23. So many events and so much choice, just get it while you can.. Long time dead.... While lot of you gloom merchants post on here, thousands of folk are out there with mates and still loving the soul... Less keyboard and more dancefloor...
