  1. I would have given most of what I own to have seen The Temptations (With Mr Ruffin) live and in their prime! Not sure if they would have appreciated having my pants thrown at them though! Jodie
  2. Seeing as you're not too bothered about it i'll give you £50?? Jodie
  3. Hi, If anyone can give me any info about this I would appreciate it. I know there is a soundbite on Manship's rarest of the rare section but i've never heard it played out. anyone know how many copies there are and a approximate price? Jodie
  4. I've got that very Richetta Osbourn - My Sweet Baby. Your right, it's mental! I'm very rarely brave enough to play it, scared that i'll be sued for causing heart attacks. For anyone who hasn't heard it, it's probably the best example of Chinese, Country and Western, Mindless Northern Soul that your ever likely to hear!! GREAT!
  5. Ho Ho! Mick is my other half, although there is a slight resemblance now you mention it but only from the neck down (You'd understand if you saw him) Don't know what the dog's name is, just thought he was pretty Jodie
  6. Perhaps anything by George Benson (& Hedges) or Stanley Mitchell (& Butler) Should be avoided
  7. The worst thing ever has got to be these people that make a big show of putting on their shoes at the side of the dancefloor, tucking their beer towel into their belt then chucking half a carton of talc all over the floor. Then what do they go and do??? Dance like Your Dad at a wedding!!!
  8. The roots of Northern Soul can be traced back to early 1960s Mods who listened to American Black Music, and in particular RnB (Quoted from Kolla) I think that the above makes a really good point! As the Northern Soul Scene evolved from Mods in the 60's (Who listened to R& I find it difficult to understand people who say that it doesn't belong in a Northern room?? I personally love R&B as well as all those "punchy" things that get labeled with the same tag. But my personal taste covers most early black music. As for my favourites, it would be easier to name ones I don't like!! Jodie (& Micky)
  9. What does the L stand for Steve? For god sake promoters PLEASE DON'T take note, I think there's room for all of us don't you?
  10. Yep, I like it as well!!
  11. Dean Barlow? Spot on. Appalling. In the same category as Bobby Day - Pretty Little Girl. How in the name of sanity can anyone sit there and think "yep! that's the sound for me". Same goes for all that rock n roll that gets spun. Helen Troy, Betty O'Brien, Richard Berry - all makes the scene sound like an old Tommy Steele movie. Oh yeh, there's that woeful Hayes Cotton thing (not Black Wings) that was getting played down the Dome last year - sounds like a dog being strangled slowly. Ha Ha! Should come down to the 100 on Saturday, got most of the above. How about I play one just for you maybe "Half A Sixpence" LOL I suppose your more of a "Saturday Night Fever" kinda Fella rather than a Tommy Steele fan? Jodie xxx (oops, the top bit was a quote)
  12. Perhaps it's just very jealous of the white ones! ho ho ho
  13. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...06&category=306 Is it really supposed to be that colour? Never seen one like it!
  14. Soul Set - Will You Ever Learn Micki Champion - What Good Am I I love a bit of sax me! Jodie
  15. Does anyone know of a soundbite for Bruce Cloud - My Book - Era? I'm also after one to buy if anyone has one. Thanks Jodie xx
  16. You could try: Robert Hart, 2033 Arkona Court, Niskayuna, NY 12309 (not sure if he has a shop or private address but I've bought stuff from him on eBay) Might be worth trying to call him when your there. Remember my pressie if it turns out to be a good tip!!
  17. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...MEBWA%3AIT&rd=1 Perhaps the terms and conditions are a touch severe?
  18. Never Mind Got One!!!
  19. Buster & James - The Flip - Cee Jam AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH F**ing Brilliant instrumental Gonna hammer this one at the Girlies night @ 100 club! Be warned Also cant stop playing Narbay (only on a soundbite though - sob!) Herbert Hunter - Isn't it wonderful to dream... Sing it at the top of my lungs whilst doin the dusting, my neighbours have taken out a contract on me!
  20. Please Please If anyone has a copy of Calvin Grayson - Love Just Began/You've Got To Be Willing - IN 6312 I Want It!! Cash or trades Contact Jodie - mickyandjodie@aol.com
  21. You could try Redingtons Rare Records in Digbeth opposite the police station but honestly don't expect to much! They also seem to get all of their prices from the Record Collector book. As for what's on, there's never much on in the centre of Brum but if you visit Dave Rimmers website (soulfulkindamusic) it might be more useful to visit his events page (He lives in Dudley and DJ's just about everywhere!) If you find yourself here at Easter there is an alldayer at Club Air, Heathmill Lane on the Sunday 2pm-2am, DJ's include Jo Wallace, Roger Bankes, Kitch etc... Don't know who's running it as it's part of the Birmingham Mod Weekend and I ain't a mod! Hope i've helped!
