  1. Just dug out this little gem from an old shoe box, still sometimes see it in sales boxes from time to time, however, it also shares the same backing track as another record on the same label, King solomon ~ Somethings wrong with me ~ Lebam 162. I've never seen a copy of this record, does it ever turn up if so what price ?
  2. Strange isn't it Dave, you never get appreciated in the area that you live. I don't recall hearing you play the Casualeers !!!!!!!!!! ( LOL ).
  3. Yeah you got it Shute.... have a fresh piece of white doggy poo has prize.
  4. Great topic this one. jump started my memory cells............. On the subject of Wynder K Frog, does anyone remember the title of an L.P that it was on ?, I can remember, but do you ?. Other out of favours : Mary Seanz ... Would she do that for you ... Big Ben The Nightwatch ... The lips to your heart ... ABC Dee Edwards ... Loving you is all I wanna do .... Cotilion Chiffons ... Nobody knows whats going on ...Laurie Spooky & Sue ... I got the need ... Negram What price on a Spooky & Sue original nowadays, I've had one since 79, never see it for sale...... John
  5. ( LOL )..... Do you think has had any longterm effect s on your health ?
  6. Yes it is, save yourself some dosh buy " The worlds funkiest band " virtually the same record...................
  7. Sorry to differ with everyone here, but I don't think its such a great record, extremely repetative IMO..........
  8. Thanks Christian, If anyone has a Boom Issue, try and upload it, I would love to see a Picture / scan.
  9. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a copy of this record on a Boom Issue ?. My copy and all the copies i've ever seen , are all white Demo's. Does anyone know if issue's exist ?
  10. Yes but no but yes, YES, I do think it is important that a D.J uses a mic, and I say that from a collectors point of view, it saves me going upto the decks everytime I hear a track i'm unfamiliar with. NO, I do agree that a d.j who shouts or mumbles can also be annoying and just distracts from the music. YES, from a dances point of view I suppose It doesn't matter if the d.j uses the Mic. Intersting debate !
  11. Hi Brett, sorry you couldn't make the 100club, It was great night. Anyway back to the thread, IMO a d.j who can use the mic, ( i.e Roger Banks ) to great effect deserves total respect. D.j's who don't / can't use the mic NO, NO, shouldn't be up there. I've seen Sean dancing to his own records, might try it myself sometime, but what if you don't get back to the decks in time ?
  12. Tremendous record !, and played my Marco at the 100club saturday night.
  13. What did he say ?
  14. What did Bexter say, only I have chosen to ignore his posts so they don't show up on my computer. Was it anything to do with my original topic ?.
  15. 1. Speaking after every song, stating the obvious, such as 'that was Better Use Your Head' WOW-Great link! As regards to stating the obvious, someone might have never heard of " Better use your head ", what may be obvious to the majority may not be obvious to everyone. IMO a D.J should introduce a record with the minimum fuss (i.e) Artist, Title, maybe Label. that should be as standard. I really get annoyed at so called D.J's who stand beind the decks with hands in pockets and just play tracks one after the other without saying a word, IMO that isn't D.J ing, a child of six can do that................... Anyways I started this thread about not damaging vinyl, please can we try to stick to the original thread...................
  16. Now that's what I call a top tip, never heard of that before, I will definatly give it a try...........Brilliant !
  17. Hang on a minute, the point i was making was about how to prevent damaging records. The whole point of the Tools & Tackle forum is to put forward helpfull tips. Your point about D.J's shutting up and letting the music talk, could be an excellent topic in the All about soul Forum.
  18. Nice record , Detroit perfection, one of my fav's too..... I thought price was about £100.
  19. Another good record in the same vain as the Drapers is The Original Cadillacs ~ I'll never let you go ~ Josie. Not often heard nowadays, great record.
  20. Great idea Mike, Can I be the first with a top tip. When D.Jing don't bother trying to get your cueing in bang on, moving the record backwards and forwards ruins your vinyl. Put the needle on the record and gently move it forwards to make sure the needle is in the groove. When its time to start the record press start, the record will play, a good D.J will always introduce a record in such away that you'll never notice it asn't been cued in. Cueing in ruins vinyl !
  21. Brett, there, there mate I understand, I'm on your side. P. S please let me know where you gonna bury your vinyl...... John
  22. Originally covered as The Drifters, if my memory serves me right. slightly impaired by a couple of glasses of Frascati...........
  23. Wilson Love , what a great track, one of the most often played tracks in my car, Mick H got one recently so should start hearing around a bit. Good topic this one, of course there is the temptation to reach for the nearest Crossover C.D, however just quickly thumbing through me vinyl, Willie Tee ~ first taste of hurt . Hesitations ~ Is this the way to treat a girl . Pauline Shivers ~ won't you come back home . I've just noticed that there is a willie tee first taste of hurt finishing on ebay in a couple of hours, current price £63, bargain if you ask me.....
  24. All you people putting replies on during the day, have none of you got jobs ?
  25. Another overlooked track by Patti Drew is " he's the one " on Capitol. Pure class. Pick one up for £15 - £20.
