  1. Nah.....It's got to be George Lemons ..Fascinating girl, George even sings it like a pub singer, the ultimate Northern pub singer song
  2. As regards to the mic discussion i'm not fussed either way, if there's one there i'll use it, if there isn't, just play the records, As regards to virtual D.J's that would be fun to see a hollogram beind the decks .....My pet hate as regard D.J's, is D.J's who stand beind the decks with their hands in their pockets looking miserable, I think a good D.J is one who looks as though they are enjoying what they are doing, entusiasm is infectious, and a good D.j can definatly influence a dancefloor.
  3. Recently noticed a number of copies of Clara Hardy...I Dream of you ..TUNA , have turned up. How many other labels relating to Fish can you think of ?
  4. A Mix of the two usually does it for me, love mid tempo but like to hear some moovers too
  5. I've just clicked on the link....not for me thanks, sounds too posh
  6. Who's been talking steve, I've got a woodwork CSE, and a top grade too, I can still cut a mean dovetail when required ......
  7. Me too... If we keep this going we'll soon know how many copies are out there
  8. Just checked mine too, looks pretty clean, maybe a slight blemish above the " D " in said.
  9. Good flip side too....."I found true love"
  10. Ah Mr Parton, very nice selection sir. I was out all day, but might get a chance to spin a few today...fingers crossed.....catch up with you wednesday mate
  11. I'd have to agree with you there Kev, I'd rather hear a D.J with imagination and can appeal to all tastes. Maybe one way to fund a Northern collection, is to set up a paypal account and register with ebay, first of all put up all your household possesions up for sale and when your paypal account is nice and fat, start buying the vinyl.......
  12. Enquires about this record do seem to crop up on here quite often.....seems to be a popular tune !!. I played it at Blackpool a couple of weeks ago and it seems popular on the dancefloor too......£150 - £200 i'd say.
  13. Dave obviously a busy man, and has lot's of records to sort through..... It is a good record though and I have a copy too
  14. I always remember many years ago buying " Wendal Parker - my love's on ration - Capricorn " which is an instrumental, and a very shakey one at that, very poorly recorded, sounds like it was done in someones potting shed at the bottom of the garden, I still play it at home sometimes to cheer me up.......it's so crap. JM
  15. Yes, and the dance floor response was amazing, I think only " Pat & The Blenders " got a better response, couldn't get near the floor....... Got anymore top tips for the future Mr.Trouble.....? Eargerly awaiting
  16. Two of the scene's nicest people get hitched today, and I'll be playing a few tunes of " Lurve " this afternoon at lloyd street Manchester on thier behalf, looking forward to it guy's hope you both / three of you have a great day and a great future..........see you later
  17. Well if anyone does get a lorry load and wants to off load one for £50 i'm your man.....
  18. ..... Mmm sounds bad doesn't it, liked it when i first heard it but then went off it.......
  19. I've actually just dug this out and played it, and it didn't sound as bad as I remember it......
  20. Other side was Breakaway which IMO was dreadful.... The Ann sexton remix was quite good though , I think they've got another 7" out now.
  21. Great to see some of these old classics getting a make over, the more the better I say, might breath some much needed new life into the scene. In fact why not get all the contestants on the X factor to record a Northern classic, they're a real talented bunch and i'm sure they'd do some great covers.....
  22. Spot on Des, It's all about demand, not true rarity value. If a record is getting hammered and there is a demand for it then the price goes up. Even if there are a few hundred copies, that's still not enough to satisfy demand.
  23. I've voted for it.......love the track, stuff like this is the future of the scene. Why can't new stuff be played on the " Northen scene " ? helps blow the cob webs away IMO.
  24. Yep one of the first records I remember dancing too when I got into northern, Human Beinz..Nobody but me was another.......sound great when heard occaisonally, wouldn't like to hear them every week though.....
