  1. Thought I'd offer them on here to Soul Source members for 24 hours before they go onto Evil Bay. On the basis that these records have all been played, none are graded at Mint, although all are near mint and have no obvious defects either to labels or sound except where noted. 1. Jeff Perry - Love Don't Come No Stronger (Stereo) / (Mono) - Arista Demo - £35.00 Vinyl near mint condition, very slight label damage on the stereo side where the label caught the edge of the sleeve and lifted slightly. In demand for many years, but that demand has incerased over the last year or so. 2. J J Barnes - Won't You Let Me Know / My Love Came Tumbling Down - Rich - £30.00 A great double sider from the early days in Detroit 3. Geraldine Latham - Lazy Lover / Mr Fix It - Winner 7-11 WD - £30.00 Has always been around, but not really had it's day yet. 4. Joe Matthews - You Better Mend Your ways / Sorry Ain't Good Enough - Thelma - £45.00 Another great Detroit double sider that you don't see that often these days. 5. Robert Parker - I Caught You In A Lie / Holdin' Out - Nola - £35.00 Awesome New Orleans Beat Ballad that everyone should know, but when did you last see one for sale. SOLD 6. The Fantastic Four - Live Up To What She Thinks / Girl Have Pity - Ric-Tic - £50.00 Surprisingly hard single to pick up, the last of the red Ric-Tic labels. 7. The Falcons - I'm A Fool I Must Love You / Fool Fool Fool - Big Wheel - £60.00 Superb vocal harmonies from one of the best groups around. Contact me OFF LIST by clicking Here >>> daverimmer1@btinternet.com. First come, first served. P & P charged at cost. Payment accepted via cash or Cheque. No Paypal on these I'm afraid.
  2. The Chuck Jackson 'What's With This Loneliness' is still my all time fave, think I'll spin it tonight at the Albrighton reunion.

Well I think this is fairly accurate, although they're not in the right order (and to be honest might be right at all, I could be making the whole thing up, but my liver tells me it really happened) The Friday night spot was a fairly typical niter spot from me, although there are probably a couple more oldies than usual, but at 6 am you play what the dancers want, not what your ego says. The Sunday night spot was quite simply a decision by Roger and me to play records that we hadn't already heard that weekend, because we were just as pissed off at hearing the same records again and again as everyone else. Just to see though, can anyone remember any of these being played in the Main Room over the weekend ? (The Sunday night spot) Friday night 6 - 7 am Bobby Baskerville - Gotcha Where I Wancha - Dot The Belles - Don't Pretend - Mirwood The Brooks Brothers - Looking For A Woman - Tay The Caressors - I Can't Stay Away - Ru-Jac Cavaliers - Hold Onto My Baby - RCA Frank Dell - He Broke Your Game Wide Open - Valise Mill Evans - Why Why Why - King Don Gardner - My Baby Loves To Boogaloo - Try-Glo-Town The Magnetics - I Have A Girl - Ra-Sel Johnny Mae Mathews - I Have No Choice - Big Hit Syng McGowan - That's What I Want - Hope The Metros - Since I Found My Baby - RCA Big Daddy Rogers - I'm A Big Man - Midas Dee Dee Sharp - Deep Dark Secret - Caneo Shep - Fool To Fool - TNT The Sophisticates - I Can't Stand It - Mutt Patience Valentine - If You Don't Come - SAR The Van Dykes - Save My Love For A Rainy Day - Mala The Vondells - Hey Girl (You've Changed) - Airtown Tammy Wayne - Have A Good Time - Boom Calvin Williams - Lonely You'll Be - Northern T J Williams & The Two Shades Of Soul - Baby I Need You - Josie Sunday night - 11 - 12 (Shared Spot with Roger Banks) King Curtis - Foot Pattin' Part II - Atco The Delcos - Arabia - Ebony The Diplomats - Cards On The Table - Arock The Enchantments - I'm In Love With Your Daughter - Faro Barbara Lynn - I'm A Good Woman - Tribe Jack Montgomery - Baby Baby Take A Chance On Me - Revue Mack Rice - Baby I'm Coming Home - Lu-Pine Edwin Starr - Back Street - Ric-Tic Tommy T & The Targets - Sales Pitch - Big R Bobby Bland - Getting Used To The Blues - Duke The O'Jays - I'll Never Forget You - Imperial

I'll have to have a look in the DJ Box, although Sunday night's spot might be a bit tricky

Thanks, we try to please Having said that, the whole point of that spot was to play records that neither of us could remember hearing at all that weekend, especially as so many tunes had been repeated, again and again.

Do you actually go out with the intention of ENJOYING YOURSELF ? As for less than fifteen people on the dancefloor ? Well I can certainly say there were a lot more than that between 6 and 7 on the Friday night.

I think you'll find that Kev Roberts wasn't playing CDs at Prestatyn last year, because he wasn't there !

I'd guess it meant don't drop out of school.
  10. Samantha's is in the process of being re-furbished right now, and it should all be finished for the next allnighter.

Go here. Soulful Kinda Music - Blue Notes discography Both Harold Melvin Blue Notes and Bernard Williams
  12. There have been at least three. One by Chris Savoury, one by Neil Perry, and one by Pete Smith.
  13. Well I've read everything in this thread, and to be honest, nobody has really said anything different from what they said last time. My own view, same as Mark Bicknell really, if you ain't got it on an original, don't play it. That's a personal decision though, and it doesn't bother me if a record is worth £2000 or £10. I'm not going to make a fuss about someone playing boots in a set before me, but I will let them know that I am not in favour of it, especially if they play something I have an original of. But you could keep this argument going forever. In the mean time people like Mark and myself, will keep on playing originals, because that's how WE want to do it.

You might not have been Linda, but there are a lot of people who have been ripped off by one dealer from Belgium, who keeps changing their identity on Ebay and Gemm. So when an unknown person comes on line, from Belgium, and offers to sell records, it's understandable why people are suspicious. Perhaps if Stax could provide some details such as who they really are, and where they are from, it might re-assure people.

  18. Definitely used to be at least one copy in Wales, and I've a suspicion that bugger John Weston has one secreted about his record box somewhere.

I could refer you back to The Black Horse post when you did your best to wind me up, and very nearly succeeded, but I won't do that.
  20. Are you saying you've never heard of the New Century Soul Club ? You mean Kev doesn't actually make any money from his allnighters then. That's because he's been on holiday since the day of Derek Allen's funeral. Having said that, there's not much that Kev can say, whilst he has the King's Hall (presumebly) on an exclusive contract, any other venue will be available for hire. That's the way it goes, but as has already been pointed out, the DJ's and music policy are different, so will attract different people. Especially as Kev doesn't have the Kings Hall on until a full six weeks after the Queens Hall, which is actually in Burslem.
