  1. Due to someone dropping out of our booking I have a spare space in our on site caravan. Price is £95.00 PM to book it. First PM gets the accommodation.
  2. And the one that didn't was Steve Kelly, which is what I said in my original post ! And as he is the only original member of the Volcanos in the current line up, this group cannot be said to have any connection to the Trammps. Funnily enough, before I posted I checked what my original thoughts were on this really good website that contains all sorts of information. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/trammps.htm
  3. Except Steve Kelly wasn't one of the Volcanos that went on to form the Trammps, so there is no connection whatsoever between this group and The Trammps
  4. Which is being produced by Universal. I wonder where they will get the records pressed ?
  5. Or even to make a counter offer, which might well be accepted.
  6. Ive been occasionally playing Sweet Lips Of Joy out for the last few years now. Great track.
  7. You'll find comprehensive label discographies of all his labels on Soulful Kinda Music. Just hit the link in my signature and then follow the links on the site.
  8. I'm sure I read that it sold thousands of copies in Chicago, but never made it nationally. Robert Pruter's book ?
  9. Bought a Stone Blue demo last year for £650, and I thought that was a right bargain.
  10. If he Dj'ed there, he DJ'ed there, simple as that really in my view.
  11. I've a vague memory that he also did some prison time, but can't remember when.
  12. It's also on a CD called 'Casino' released on Soul World, and the Kent LP 'Brainstormers'
  13. If we are at Jess's house on a Saturday we always time on. Thing is, even if he doesn't actually know all the background info, he presents it well. It doesn't sound like he's reading it from a crib sheet someone else prepared. And that's what makes him the best national radio presenter currently on air.
  14. I remember buying six out of the seven 'This Is Loma' series of LPs in Woolies. It took me nearly twenty years to get the seventh
  15. When this was released I did a rather critical review of it. My point was though, that with Ian Levine's excellent pedigree as a producer with Take That etc, why didn't he record the Carstairs on that type of record ! At least with the right promotion they would have stood a chance of making the charts, and making some money. I also questioned who was actually going to buy the single that was recorded ! Ian at some point read my review and rang me up on a Sunday afternoon and proceeded to miss my point about possibly recording something contemporary, and having a chance of a hit, and harangued me for about three hours for having the termerity to criticise the recording. Happy days
  16. Somewhere on SS is a review of a Rugby niter when I did an early spot. I've always felt the early spot is one where the DJ needs to get people dancing. On this particular night it just wasn't working. I tried Oldies, R & B, uptempo, mid tempo,, you name it. The review though, and I can't remember who wrote it, noted this, with a considerable amount of amusement, saying something like " we watched with glee as Dave tried different styles and tempos, with a panicky look on his face, but still couldn't get the dancers up" So it just goes to show that sometimes, no matter what you play, people just won't dance ! On another occasion I was told "they don't like R & B here". Of course they did. I filled the floor with an R & B spot. I guess what I'm tryingbto saybis a good DJ should be able to read the floor, and change their spot accordingly, but there's no guarantee that will work either !
  17. Anything on Kent or Outta Site. I'm sure there are others, but these two labels are the most prolific.
  18. The next place I go where I know they play bootlegs I'm going to try and pay in with Monopoly money
  19. And before that people painted on the walls of caves. But that's not relevant either.
  20. Because 'the scene' is both collecting, playing, and dancing to original American Soul records.. Are you aware of art galleries that hang prints of original paintings on the wall, just so the public can see them ? no, neither am I, so why should a bootleg be accepted ?
  21. Don't know if you've seen this article I did Frank https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/artriclejessica.htm
  22. Yeah, but it was far funnier that way Andy
  23. Christmas is over and done with. There must be some soul that overspent and now needs money as we enter the end of a bleak January. So, come on, PM me with a price and condition for the Johnny Mae Matthews.
  24. Certainly missing from that list are copies of Soulful Kinda Music magazine which I know he had because he contributed on a regular basis. I wonder where they went ?
