Soulful House
Why is it called Soulful House ? Not the Soulful bit, but why is it called House music ?

Soulful House
As long as it's in their own room

Soulful House
I appreciate that you are entitled to your opinion, but why should we ? And I'll ask the question again, what would the reaction be if in the middle of a night of Soulful House, I came on the decks and played an hour's Northern Oldies ? I bet I'd get through three records before you all started complaining, if that. So why do people assume that a Northern Soul crowd would want to hear Soulful House. I don't try and impose my 'reactionary, and non evolved music' on you, so don't try and impose your evolved music on me or anyone else.

Soulful House
I think most people aren't missing the point. The original point was that it Soulful House should be played in Northern venues. As someone who has been into northern soul for many years and then progressed onto modern soul and now soulful house. Can someone please please tell me why u soulful boys and girls think that there is no place for soulful house. Have any of u listened to this music and if u have u will find like I have that u will get no better lyrics or those feelings we have all felt on the back of our necks. Come on we need to move forward and unite and accept that soulful house has the right to b played at our venues Obviously people are arguing against it from a 'Northern' point of view. I haven't slagged Soulful House off either, I just don't want it played in Northern Soul venues, because it isn't Northern Soul ! Incidentally, I fail to see why I should move forward and unite, with a musical genre I have no affinity for, do you ?

Soulful House
--> QUOTE(ang b @ May 5 2006, 07:17 PM) link since listening to modern soul at prestatyn withmy good friends modernlass & geoffwa3 i can say i have since been to two modern nights & had a great time & will definatly do many more, the buzz & atmosphere i felt was better than some nighters have given me in a long time, i wont be giving up my soul times but i now have more places to go & a great time every time Excellently put. You go into Modern rooms to listen to Modern Soul. I always think that the people who now look down their ever so trendy noses at the people who haven't 'evolved' or 'moved on' as complete arseholes anyway if they try and tell me I am wrong. What gives you the right to tell me I have to like the music you do ? I like Sixties Soul when I go out, and that's what I want to listen to. I don't barge into Modern rooms and expect an hour of Sixties when someone is playing Modern inthe main room do I ? So what gives you people the right to tell me you have moved on and I'm in the wrong.

Can Anyone Identify These Lyrics ?
Had an email from a guy in the States who would like this track identifying. I'm always crap at doing this so I thought I'd ask on here: The one soul song I don't know the name of nor the artist is by a male singer with what sounds like female vocals in the background. Following are some of the lyrics I can decipher: Alright, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Come on and listen to me baby Annie get your yo-yo Wind it up and let it go lookie, lookie, lookie lie Ever since you caught my eye I'm your puppet on a string I don't mind cause everything is funky, funky I'll be anything that you want me Like a kid in a candy store Each time I see you I want more Sugar I'm a_________________ for you Just can't get enough is true When you turn the lights on Oh my mind is plum gone___ ____________________________ You're my weakness_______ _________________ It's Alright_______________ Funky, funky I'll be anything that you want me I'll be anything that you want me Like a kid in a candy store Each time I see you I want more Sugar I'm a_________________ for you Just can't get enough is true Alright, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Alright, listen to me baby Ahhhhh Mercy, Feels better.............

Unreleased Tracks
In fairness to Ady, who was kind enough to let me have a cut of it, the answer is no. And, as Sian has pointed out, if I did one, I'd have to do hundreds.

Unreleased Tracks
Best I've heard in years is the unreleased GWP Larry Banks & Jaibi track 'My Life Is No Better'. Again found by a certain Mr Croasdell.

"light Fingered Soul?"
It's from "The UK's Number one Northern Soul web site" At least that's what paddy Grady calls his site.

Is This Ethical
Levine's Sidecar said "like the unlawfull filming of him at cleethorpes and then put on the web for all to see for free. thats is robbing the man from his lively hood . theft is theft 5secs or 5 hours you are still a thieving C**t " Two points here: 1. So it's ok for you to tape a DJ's set, but if I put a clip that is approximately 7 seconds long on the web I'm a thieving c**t depriving Dean Parrish of his livelihood. Hilariously, I remember Gavin trying to justify the taping of Butch & Ady's sets by saying that the music should be available to everyone and not just the priveleged few. Smacks of double standards a bit doesn't it. 2. Amazingly Dean Parrish didn't actually see it like that when I spoke to him about putting the clip on the 100 Club website, in fact I'm quite positive he didn't call me a thieving c**t when he said thanks for putting him on the front cover of Soulful Kinda Music. Same as when he left a signed photo for me with Ady, he didn't call me a thieving c**t then either, same as when he moved he emailed me his new address so we could keep in touch, and I'm fairly sure he wouldn't want to keep in touch with someone he thought was a thieving c**t. Still if that's your opinion of me, I can live with that. I know I'm not a thieving c**t, and I bet you couldn't find one person to agree with you, either on this site, or any other site, or even on the Northern scene as a whole. Incidentally, the clip was filmed at the 100 Club, not Cleethorpes but there again I forgot, you don't attend venues do you, so you wouldn't know the difference. You must lead a really lonely existence in that world of your own.

Is This Ethical
They might have been a set sale item, but you yourself admitted that it was a plot designed to fool people into parting with money "Ian never sold any of them records personaly, he sent 3 copies to the caroliners to a freind of his and then hatched the plot" And on that basis I regard it as fraud. So whatever your bleating excuses are this time, you have just admitted that it was a method of exaggerating the price of a set sale item. That makes it fraud. Wake up and smell the coffee ! Get a life ! Who's fooling who !

Edward Hamilton- Call Me
Picked an orange Carrie up in a trade a couple of weeks ago for £150, which I thought was quite cheap to be honest.
