  1. Who's arranging the DJ bookings for this Christmas party then Dave ?
  2. Not sure what the source of this discography is, but there are several details missing. Go here for a more detailed one https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/jwalker.htm
  3. I started playing it on a fairly regular basis at the Rugby allnighters about eight years ago, but it never seemed to take off on the dancefloor, so it gradually fell off my playlist. I've still got it though so might give it another try. It took me a while to find a decent copy, a demo, and I've only ever seen one issue. If you set a search up in Ebay you'll find the album pops up fairly regularly, but this track isn't on it.
  4. I think this is the best by far "Anyone Remember Wigan Pier. The Heart and Soul Venue of Northern Soul."
  5. The single is virtually worthless in that condition, and whilst the autographs are nice, unless your name is Cliff, again, not of any interest.
  6. Brian Cannon isn't that please either, he owns the image !
  7. This is Rugby at 6am. Still looks pretty busy to me, and if the Benn Hall would let us continue until 8am, I'm sure it would still be as busy.
  8. Anything that finishes before 6am is not an allnighter. That was the criteria I used for the allnighter planner, and I refused to add anything that didn't meet that criteria.
  9. I've actually bought The Steinways on Oliver twice, and never managed to get home with a copy. The first one I snapped a chunk out of the edge putting it in my box, and the second one someone offered me twice what I'd paid for it five minutes earlier. So I sold it !
  10. Back up to £55 on Ebay now.
  11. Had a quick look at this, and on their own site they wanted £9.00 postage, but if you buy from them through Ebay, it's free postage.
  12. Here's a a couple of tips for the owners: if you are going to use the above video as a promotional tool a) Try and get more than three people dancing. b) Try and make it look less like a converted double garage c) Don't let little kids in. Whilst I admire your spirit, I've seen nothing in that video that would encourage me to come and visit your club.
  13. Has to be the Shrine one that Andy Rix received in a jiffy bag from the States. I can't remember which one it was, but at the time it was either the first or second known copy.
  14. When Jessica and I were in New York a couple of years ago we went on Hector Fernandez's Soul Cruise on the Hudson. There must have been 1,000 people on the boat, and I bet if there were twenty white people that was it. And at a guess, there was only one English white person, me ! The average age though was pretty much like it is over here on the Northern scene, the vast majority of people were over 40, and all dressed up to the nines, so we were probably seen as a curiosity, especially when people heard me speak, more than anything else. There was certainly no antagonism, or hostility, and I wasn't really concious of being stared at. Once I'd shown them how to dance to Soul music, you know, a few spins, splits, and a couple of back drops...........ok, I admit it, I made that bit up, but I found that people were genuinely curious about what this white English guy was doing there, and I had to explain that I'd been listening to Black American music all my life several times.. So there was certainly no feeling of not being welcome, in fact one guy even invited us to a barbecue that he was having the following day. The only thing that stopped us going was the fact that he lived in the South Bronx, and I was a little nervous about going into that neighbourhood at night. On another occasion we were in Queens, standing in a bus queue at 11,30 at night, I was the only white guy in the queue. Again, it was my English accent that made people look at me, not the fact I was white. The other side of the coin is that the week we were there, a black guy, who it turned out was mentally ill, killed two people in Central Park (the same day that we were there) just because they were white. Not really relevant to the thread, just Rod's post made me remember it.
  15. This link may provide some info you don't have. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/dgodin.htm
  16. Dave certainly had copies left right up until a year or so before his death. I know because that's when he gave me one, but I don't suppose that helps you at all
  17. Matt Weingarden will in all likelihood be running his weekly night at Botanica.on the 1st July. Address47 E Houston StNew York, New York 10012Phone+1 212-343-7251
  18. The only bit I missed out was Rich Chorley set SAR up on FB because of an incident seperate to the one I referred to.
  19. That's not how I remember it Fred. A comment was made by one person in the ladies toilets, who was white. It was overheard by someone else who wasn't part of that conversation, who was also white, and they construed it as a racist comment. That person took offence at the time, and subsequently set up the Soul Against Racism group on FB. I'm not defending the person who made the comment, they were absolutely in the wrong with both their attitude, and use of words. However, no black person was abused, or even involved in the incident that led to the forming of the FB group. Unless of course you know of another incident.
  20. I think Craig Charles shows the calibre of his intelligence in the quote. "The whole northern scene was white. Some black people who went................." Hmmm, wasn't all white then was it you dummy ? I was once discriminated against on the northern scene, and it was someone from Blackpool that did it. They said I was from Yorkshire on a flier. Yorkshire ! Bloody Yorkshire! im a Lancastrian born and bred !!!
  21. Without checking, I think I'll ship anywhere.
  22. Just checked my discogs, and my stuff still says the price + shipping
  23. Well I've got 652 label listings on my site.
