  2. Just worked for me, so you can still feel embarrassed Buddy, er I meant Kev
  3. The Fury single has to be one of the following catalogue numbers: 1065 / 1072 / 5003 because I've just identified 5001, which means these three are the only ones I'm missing from the Fury label discography.
  4. No it wasn't Keith, but I don't know who they were.

LMAO is the abbreviated version of ROTFLMAO
  6. Well I did say "unless you count Holland's pies". They may not be made in Wigan, but in my mind they are always associated with the town. As Steve Johnston and I said Central Park Cafe would have been a lot more appropriate for a memorial cafe in Wigan. Much longer history, a lot more genuine memorabilia, and a greater connection to people who live in Wigan.

Congratulations Pete, there are those who will think you are mad paying that for a record...but they don't understand the compulsion and obsessions (Sounds like I'm describing mental illness ) of wanting a record, and then finally getting a copy. Pleased as punch for you By the way Jimmy Burns is far better
  8. As I actually know one of the guys who started the firm, no. But Wigan isn't actually famous for JJBs though is it. To the average person in the street, JJBs is a sports shop, but they don't associate it with Wigan. Same as Reebok and Bolton. Very few people actually realise that the firm started off making running shoes in a back street in Bolton, they just assume that Reebok are a multinational same as Puma or Adidas. Having said that, if the cafe have gone so down the road as to be dressing mannekins up in vests and T-Shirts that's taking it too far. They should have gone with Central Park Cafe instead !!! Probably a damn site more Wigan people went through the gates at Central Park than ever went through the doors at the Casino !!!!
  9. So right Steve Let's face it, if you were the company who set the arcade up, and wanted it to look nice, have a local connection, and not be called 'Le Cafe' or some other such crap, in Wigan you have four choices. 1. Casino Cafe 2. Wigan Pier Eatery 3. Uncle Joe's Emporium (and this one has a lot more relevance to people from Wigan than the Casino cafe does actually) 4. Central Park Cafe (and this is probably the most relevant of the lot !!!!) I'm sorry but Wigan isn't famous for anything else, unless you count Holland's Pies They happened to choose Casino Cafe for the name and theme of their cafe. End of story. Yes it was a commercial decision, which people in Wigan, who will be the ones using the cafe, are probably quite happy with. Why get upset about it !
  10. Somebody must have a copy for sale that I can buy
  11. And that's 200,000 unique hits on the home page. So a big thank you to everyone who has used the site over the last few years. Dave
  12. Well at least you replied about the record Joan
  13. Johnny K. Killens & The Dynamites - I Don't Need Help (Deep City).
  14. Interestingly, the Empress Ballroom would have gained it's name from the type of dancefloor it had, an Empress. Same as the Casino used to be called Wigan Empire, (Or Wigan Emp as my parents knew it!) because it had an Empire dancefloor. There was a third type but I'm blowed if I can remember it !
  15. Ah yes, but is £15,000 the correct value for Frank Wilson ? I was always under the impression (gained from Ken Burrell) that there was more than one record involved in the £15,000 deal.
  16. Has anyone ever seen a copy though ? John, you've listed it, is that because you've seen it or just heard of it's existance ?
  17. I bought this at the 100 Club about 15 years ago
  18. Are they in this listing ? If not I didn't receive them (and to be honest I don't remember receiving them because I'm usually meticulous about crediting anyone who has added to a discog. Can you send them again please. ta.
  19. We had a crack at a Jackie Lee discography >>> here If anyone can add anything it would be a great help.
  20. Driving licence ? Fishing licence maybe ?
  21. I bet she's called Lucy Morgan
  22. Hi Ted, I suppose I'd be about the same from Johnny boy. There are loads of people on SS within twenty minutes of me though, all the Dudley / Wolverhampton people to start with, so I'd guess that must add up to about twenty. Hitsville Chalky is the only one within walking distance though.
  23. I've been doing this for years now. Simply because, as has already been said, I found I couldn't collect and DJ. I just couldn't afford it ! So, to listen to at home, I've still got all my albums and CDs, to DJ with I've got a 200 count box, that means when I buy something new, I have to sell something to get it in the box. What it does do is force you to vary your set. Over the course of a year or so when I compare playlists I find probably 75% of the records I am playing have changed. I can't say it makes me a good DJ though, and it doesn't make someone who brings a 500 count box a bad DJ. I'd like to think that I am a good DJ and can construct a set that will make people want to dance wherever I'm DJing, be it The 100 Club, or Goodyears in Wolverhampton. But it was financial necessity that forced me down the 'hotbox' route, nothing else.
  24. Well I'm still going
  25. Dead 'ard me !
