  1. I only know of two live albums (Three issues) by Major Lance. Major Lance Live At The Torch (First issue with colour sleeve) Major Lance Live at The Torch (Second issue with black and white sleeve) Major Lance live at Hinckley
  2. Funnily enough I'm in contact with the wife of one of the members of Dickie & The Ebb Tides. She was asking if it was possible to get hold of any of his records because he hasn't got anything left. So if anyone can PM some MP3s of Dickie & The Ebb Tides recordings I'll pass them on. Cheers
  3. I don't think anyone would doubt that Richard Searling will top this poll. He's been there, done that, worn the T-Shirt for over 40 years now. In terms of my favourite DJs these days, and I don't want to include anyone from the past because the Northern Scene is NOW, it's not just nostalgia, these are the guys who I would travel to hear, and very rarely remember them doing a spot I didn't enjoy. Keith Money Chris Anderton Roger Banks John Weston Ady Croasdell and there's one guy who's spot I never miss Dave Rimmer
  4. Whenever I'm DJing I always try to get there for the start of the night so I don't repeat anything that has been played, although it has happened on occasions. If you are being paid to DJ, you have to accept some responsibility in earning that wage. Simple as that. Joan of course has hit the nail on the head with the two room scenario, it's impossible to be in two places at once, so really I'd spend most of the night in the main room, and trust to luck in the second room. theoretically, because you would play a different set in the second room, it should be individual enough for tracks not to be repeated. Mind you, I've seen people follow me and start their set with a record I played less than ten minutes before, and I know they were in the venue then, so were they listening ??
  5. So it's the definitive London Club scene list. Which means it's not relevant to anyone who didn't frequent the London Club scene. And to be honest nothing would horrify me more than having to frequent the London Club scene in the Eighties
  6. That's ELEVEN years ago though ! The problem with lists like this is it is aimed at a younger generation. I've been buying and listening to Black music for nigh on forty years now, as have the majority of the members of this forum, but I've never heard of at least a quarter of the DJs they name. Does that make it a good list ? In my eyes no, but in the eyes of someone aged twenty it's probably great. You have to question whether experience and knowledge should overcome youthful enthusiasm to make this a definitive list though.
  7. Err, these aren't Kent releases are they?? They are all on the main imprint, Ace. I know Kent is part of the Ace company, but you'd have thought if you were going to write a critical review you would at least be able to talk about the correct label that the CDs you are reviewing were on
  8. Mike You should at least give us all a chance to read the post before you delete it
  9. It looks like we've all still got it ! I know I have.
  10. Black Wings deffo
  11. Well Albert, hopefully that's enough information for you
  12. Because it made good financial sense for Berry Gordy. If he already had a backing track recorded, he didn't have to pay any musicians again to record it on a different artist.
  13. No you're not. It is crap, it's Country Blues and should never, ever, ever have even been shown to a pair of decks, never mind played on them. Some records you love with a passion, others you hate..............this is one I hate
  14. That's correct. Adey Pierce from Gloucester had this and a couple of other Sidra / Drew recordings on a 10" studio acetate which he made available for the above CD. From memory, without checking the liner notes on the CD, the other track from the acetate was called 'A Dream' and is probably the better of the two tracks. Although credited to Barbara Mercer, I believe the studio acetate had no credits, so it might not be her anyway. Just dug the CD out, the above info is correct, and would you believe it was seven years ago that I wrote those liner notes !! The 10" Fabulous release was later than the CD, 2002, but was another of Glenn Gunton's (Who was in effect Joe Boy Records) compilations. I'm fairly sure that the guy who now owns the legal rights to all the Sidra / Drew stuff lives in the South West UK (Possibly Gloucester / Cheltenham)
  15. Well I am surprised. If the chat room you run is full of posts like the PM you sent me no wonder nobody wants to come and play with you........and I quote "f*** you asshole". "Punk bitch" and "Cockbite" were three of the most choice phrases you used...... Happy New Year and I mean that very sincerely because it must be lonely for you. ps. what's a cockbite ?
  16. I wish you luck then. You're obviously such a pretentious cnut that I can assure you I won't be joining you as an IRCitizen, I'm quite happy as a whiner
  17. I mean posh because you're waffling on about IRC and DALnet when all you had to say was "It's a chat room"
  18. Am I right in thinking this is a posh chat room ??
  19. Rob Smith is still in business as far as I know
  20. I know I'm thick, but what's a DALnet chat channel ? I'm looked at the link and I'm no wiser ?
  21. To be honest Chalky, all the time. Someone can be ignorant, without it being an insult, but to say someone is pig ignorant is intended in one way only, and that's as an insult
  22. It's unreleased RCA off one of the Kent CDs
  23. That's what I've been hinting at
  24. He doesn't now
  25. Soul Sourcers can't agree what day it is most of the time, so the chance of a top 500 would be almost impossible
