Brian is still around and pops up at different venues on a fairly regular basis. He did give me his email address once, and of course I lost it almost straight away , because I wanted to email him a photo of me, Brian, Pete Bennet, and Neil Jones, all of whom have Warrington connections, but non of us live there anymore. So if anyone has Brian's email addy, PM it to me please Ta

Ripple Blast Singers-sadie Sadie Lp
There are two different versions of the track, and the albums are indistinguishable unless you check the matrix markings. Same track order, same labels, same sleeve, crap version of Sadie Sadie ! Great dancer though

Cheatin Kind, Don Gardener
The minimum pressing run was 300 in the Sixties for most American pressing plants. Admittedly most records were pressed in a minimum of a 1000 copies, which generally worked out as 900 to sell and 100 to give out as freebies.

Ebay Seller Cityof2rivers 0 Feedback
I'd be very wary because the scan of Ernest Moseley that he has used is one I've had filed on my pc since the 10th March 2004 And the scan of The Magnetics I've had since 27th January, 2006 and the Professionals since 10th March, 2004 as well Of course he may be a sad git like me that saves labelscans and rather than bother scanning his own records has used the scans he has filed away. Just found another I've got. 2nd November 2006 this one

First Taste Of Soul
I was indoctrinated as a mere child by my Mother. She used to run a 'Keep fit' class at night school, I suppose you'd now call it aerobics, and obviously the best music around at the time to keep fit to, was Motown. I can still remember her recording all the latest Motown tunes onto a reel to reel tape recorder to take down to her class, and this was about 1968 ! Of course I didn't know it was Soul music at the time. As I got older a mate of mine's older brother started attending The Torch, and like so many others on here, we played his records when he went out. School discos and Youth clubs were almost entirely Soul music by the time I was 12, and this led onto Wigan and other clubs. I grew up in the North West, and it seemed like every shop that sold records had a really good Soul section at the time. I remember Boots The Chemist in Warrington actually had an import section for a while, more to do with the girl who ran the record counter I think than Boots though. There was also a shop further down past Woolworths (And of course The Carlton) that sold Northern in a big way but I can't for the life of me remember the name. If you went into Manchester there were loads of shops. Anyone remember Derek Howe working at HMV (?) where I first came across the idea of a metal rod through the middle of the singles to stop people knicking them ! There was also Spin Inn. In Bolton there was J W Lee's (?) where the Soul stuff was downstairs. I remember Tracks in Bolton, more a Rock type of shop than Soul, but they always had all the latest Soul albums, and were cheaper than anywhere else in the town. Happy days.

"in Harlem, 2 Record Stores Go The Way Of Vinyl"
Hi Juddy, thanks for posting the article, it's probably something us Brits wouldn't normally have seen. The situation you refer to above is not limited to the States, or Black communities either. Here in the UK, as what have traditionally been rough areas improve, mostly due to the work of the residents in the area I might add, you find that their childern are unable to remain in the area. Driven out by economics and demand from people outside the area. So the sense of community that improved the estate goes, especially as most of the people who did the work get older. You end up with an estate that has no soul, no sense of belonging, which will eventually lead to a downturn in the area's fortunes because if you have no sense of belonging, you have no sense of caring for the area or the future of it's children. Sad, but a fact of these materialistic times. Or am I just viewing the past when communities cared about each other through rose tinted glasses?

The Accents - You Better Think Again / Who You Gonna Love - One-Derful - £200 Great double sider in near mint condition, one surface mark on the WYGL side which does not affect the sound quality at all. One of them is Liam who is on SS- James Fountain U.k Cream What Is This?
Ah well, I feel another explanation coming on. You're obviously confused about the difference between a Demonstration copy of a record (Which is given away to DJs and Radio Stations) and an Issue (Also known sometimes as a stock copy and sold in shops). So there can be no such thing as a demo issue. I thought you'd have understood this with your love of pretty colours. It even applies to the second issues released in the UK.- Record Boxes
These are superb boxes. I've had one for a few years now and had no problems with it at all. Apparently they are made locally in Manchester, the only thing I would say is if you use card sleeves and then paper sleeves you can only get about 165 records in them, not the 200 they claim.- James Fountain U.k Cream What Is This?
Perhaps you ought to tell your nine year old daughter about the UK as well as reissues then. The UK is not an independent country at all. The United Kingdom is not even a country. It's a conglomerate of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. So, having established that you don't even comprehend the geographical area that records are reissued in, how on earth can you grasp the concept that if a record is released for the second time, irregardless of country, it's a reissue. By the way, if you go back to my original post on this thread I think you'll find that I said "Can't dispute that it's the first British issue, but at the end of the day, it's a reissue of a record that was originally released in the US." So you are actually agreeing with me. Glad we sorted that out Pretty colours by the way, and yes, I've deliberately taken an opposing stance just for the wind up- James Fountain U.k Cream What Is This?
Except if you had read my post you'll find I never used the word RE-RELEASE. So looking at the word doesn't help much because I didn't use it. You did.- James Fountain U.k Cream What Is This?
Read your own post. the clue is in there.......released in US then in the UK, the UK one is a SECOND issue. Simple 1....US 2....UK SECOND ISSUE- Warrington
That would be when Barry and Pete ran it. Remember going to this, as a punter, and being asked to DJ because someone hadn't turned up, so I did the spot with a few scrounged records and the contents of my sales box. Quite funny really, Barry came up to me and said, "Have you got any records with you ?". Thinking he meant sales I said yes. He replied "Good. You're on in twenty minutes" From memory the problem with the sound system was that one deck played much louder than the other. - Dancers On You Tube
