  1. I don't know if he's already done so, but Chris Anderton can relate some wonderfully funny stories about his trips with Shifty.
  2. Funnyly enough I thought Pete had a perfectly valid point, because I also paid five months earlier for a copy of the book, yet found it advertised for sale (from two sellers) before I had received my copy. So how was that more than shit stirring ?
  3. Quite an interesting interview with Jeff Horton >>>>INTERVIEW<<<<
  4. Aww come on guys, read the description properly, it is after all, a size 8, so that makes it ok......doesn't it
  5. The last step at the 100 Club, coming up, is slightly higher than all the others
  6. It's unlikely I'll be able to attend, but if I can get the time off work I'll be there because I think it will be an interesting session (and I'm also interested in the work Ady does with label owners and artists regards licensing tracks.) But I do think it would be interesting if any of the contributors could submit their papers to SS prior to the event, the bun fight it would stir up would probably be as interesting as the event itself
  7. Brilliant news, less time to wait for the train in the morning, and an extra hour in the Blue Posts before hand
  8. Well I can think of two who were at Keele Uni, and are still on the scene, and SS !
  9. Hey Ady, The Clocks go back on the Sunday morning, so are we going to get an extra hour in the club, or are you going to boot us out into Oxford Street at 5am (real time). Means a long wait for the first train at 9am
  10. So why is it a big mystery ? Just say who has it
  11. Wigan Casino had a musical heritage just as long as the 100 Club, if not longer. Prior to being the Casino it was known as Wigan Empire (Due to the type of dancefloor) and the history extends well back to when it was built around the time of the first world war
  12. Ok then, has ANYONE ever seen a copy of this: 1296 - Don Varner - Meet Me In The Church / Tearstained Face - 1969
  13. Ok, one of the people who I got a copy for has decided they don't actually like this years single, so it's for sale Mint, unplayed, £55.00 including next day postage. First PM gets it Now Sold
  14. If they don't sell at £100, they will go to Ebay.
  15. For reasons of space I am having to sell some of my magazines. Therefore I am selling a complete run of Manifesto magazine, Issue 1 to 118. All are in virtually new condition, and have been stored individually in plastic wallets since they were bought.. A complete snapshot of the Northern & modern soul scene over the last 16 years. Price: £150.00 for them all, I'm not willing to split them though. NOW ONLY £100.00 I can make arrangements to post these, but they fill an A4 File Box, and weigh an awful lot !, so you would have to be prepared to pay the postage on top. Alternately you can collect them from me at home, or we can arrange delivery at a niter of your choice. First PM offering the full price gets them, (sorry no haggling on these, they are less then £1.50 each anyway !) Payment can be cash, personal cheque, or as a last resort Paypal. (I would also consider any trades of records worth £150) Cheers
  16. thought you were against the discussion of people's sales
  17. Reviews of approximately 40 books here Soulfulkindamusic.net
  18. Had to laugh at one of the comments: The keyboardist on the left looks like a wedding DJ or someone who's just showing the keyboard for demonstration purposes only. So yes, it is Chris King
  19. It was only meant as a bit of fun, and people have gone all serious on it, so I'm going to lock the thread
  20. Well, as you can see, I did finish off with a smiley, it was meant as a bit of fun rather than an argument
  21. That's the point I was trying, rather badly obviously, to make. I say thank you for the booking at the time it was made, because as you say, it's simple good manners, and I say thank you when people pay me, again, simple good manners, but you said "Thank you for asking me", which is different to thank you for letting me DJ at your venue And just like you Joan, I always go out to have a good time, and have always felt that if you go out thinking you are going to have a good time, you will, (even if it's not strictly allowed) Let's face it, I spend a lot of my time out on the scene with Johnny Weston
  22. After all he started the trend
  23. I must admit that I agree with Simon's original point, why do some DJ's post up things like "Thanks for letting me DJ". The promoter hasn't let you DJ, he's hired you to do a job of work (No matter how enjoyable it might be), and a good promoter should hire the DJs he thinks will do a good job at his venue, irregardless of what musical genre it might be. Personally, as I'm not a promoter, I don't have 'my own gig' to fall back on, and can't trade spots with other promoters, so I'm always grateful for any bookings that are offered to me, and I always say thank you to a promoter for booking me, at the time the booking is confirmed, and like Paul, again when I've been paid .
  24. I've managed to get some stuff back in the right place now, and found the tape. Trouble is, all it says on the cover is 'Radio 1 Insight into Northern Soul - Broadcast 28/9/1975', so I'll have to connect a cassette player up to find out more
  25. I hardly ever comment on other people's sales, but bearing in mind there is a whole thread about this particular record, and my comment was perfectly correct and valid, do you really think people are not aware of the price, condition, and easy availability of the Ebay copies ?
