  1. This is at least the third thread on this song. Why ? It's not Soul music. It's not Northern Soul music, It's got absolutely nothing to do with either musical genre. Having read his playlist (See link above) I'd suggest that he's not into the scene at all, rather a pastiche of it that has been created for him. I can't think of ANY venue that would have a playlist like those ten tracks ! And if this is the best that the UK has to offer when it comes to getting to number one in the singles chart, it's a pretty poor showing. The song is terriible.
  2. Look who the last act on that show bill is....The Grim Reapers !
  3. Dug these out of the files recently, and posted to my FB page.
  4. Judging by what has been happening with loads of 45s, they have probably been borrowed by HM Customs so that they can work out how much duty is payable on them.
  5. I think you are wrong. Barry 1010 was released in the States in 1966 (Although I have no details on the label colours) Sue 4047 is the UK release from 1968.
  6. Does anyone know why this is so rare ? What I mean is, with other really rare records loads of people have done the detective work, so we know the reasons behind a record being rare, and remaining rare. But I don't remember reading anything on the background to this particular rarity.
  7. Yes Gene, but the CD that Miff is talking about is actually called 'The 100 Club Anniversary Singles. 6Ts 1979-2009'.
  8. An easy way to wind them up is to say that jazz funk and modern soul are just another way for them to describe disco music. So true
  9. I deleted any duplicate entries, so the Dean Parrish only shows once. And yes there was an alternative take of Johnny Maestro, but I've not included it because, unless you know of a Musicor / Dynamo release, it was released on Scepter.
  10. I honestly don't know. I would guess not, because they don't have a digital version for sale. When I looked at it, it downloaded some of the CDs I've bought over the years, going back to 2001. Not everything obviously, but that may well be because there aren't digital versions available, but there were quite a few albums.
  11. Actually, given how much stuff Kent have put out from the two labels, there is surprisingly little previously unreleased stuff. Dean Parish - Bricks, Broken Bottles And Sticks(Alt) - Musicor - Unreleased - It’s Torture - Kentlp046 Fabulous Dinos - Diamond Ring - Musicor - Unreleased - Manhattan Soul: Scepter, Wand & Musicor - Cdkend347 Intruders - I've Got Love For You - Musicor - Unreleased - Soul Cities - Kentlp089 Jimmy Radcliffe - Deep In The Heart Of Harlem - Musicor - Unreleased - Manhattan Soul - Volume 2 - Cdkend379 Marie Knight - That's No Way To Treat A Girl (Alt) - Musicor - Unreleased - Soul Spin - Kentlp024 Melba Moore - The Magic Touch - Musicor - Unreleased - The Magic Touch - Kentlp057 Nightbeats - Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Pt 2 - Musicor - Unreleased - Mod Jazz Forever - Cdkend368 Platters - Not My Girl - Musicor - Unreleased - The Platters - The Musicor Years - Cdkend116 Porgy & The Monarchs - Congratulations - Musicor - Unreleased - The Magic Touch - Kentlp057 Porgy & The Monarchs - Keep A Hold On Me - Musicor - Unreleased - Sophisticated Sounds - Soul For The Connoisseur - - Kentlp079 Brooks O'dell - I Got What It Takes Parts 1 & 2 And 3 - Dynamo - Unreleased - I'm Your Man - Cdkend296
  12. Just to add a bit more to this debate. How many people are aware of Amazon's Autorip programme / plan, scheme / thingy. Basically, if you buy a CD from them, they will also give you a digital copy held in your account on the Amazon Autorip Cloud. It works as well. I bought a couple of CDs from them last week, and before the CDs arrived at my house the digital copies were available to me in Autorip, so I could listen to them on my PC and my phone, before the CDs even arrived !
  13. Check the Ace Records website, they are making downloads available of some CDs these days.
  14. 89p for an MP3 download off Amazon if that's any help.
  15. I thought I'd have a look at the rest of the forum on Soulstrut. The thread about Bobby Bland dying has 8 replies. The thread about DJ accessories being too expensive has 33 replies. Says it all really doesn't it.

  17. Hmm, do I care what he thinks ? Err, no, actually I don't !
  18. I'd need to see a full list, because I have all the ones you have specifically mentioned. But at the right price I'd be interested,
  19. And that's a very reasonably priced copy for sale on Discogs
  20. And your reason for saying this is ?
  21. Enjoy it, and ignore all the grumpy old men !
  22. There is / was another thread about this Ted, started before the auction ended.
  23. Yes, but given what the insurance cost will be for a £10,000 (And that's just a guess) record, it may well be cheaper to buy a flight !
  24. How many attended the first weekender Ady ?
