  1. I'm pretty sure this is one of the singles Universal will be releasing on November 25th as part of the Motown 7s Box set.
  2. I did actually have a look, and there are several sites that it could possibly be on, but the filtering at work means I can't actually look at those sites, ebay in particular. Sorry.
  3. So why mention it at all. It's obviously a metter of public knowledge if you and Steve G know who it is. So why not let the rest of us know. Or to you wish to maintain a 'I know more than you mystique'. There's always one of those in every group isn't there.
  4. There's a site called 'Google' which is quite good for finding things on the net. All you have to do is type a description of what you are looking for into the box, and as if by magic, Google goes away and does all the searching for you. You should really try it. Just a word of warning though, make sure the 'Tat filter' is not applied or you'll never find the bag you are looking for. Hope this helps.
  5. Probably not. If only because SS appears to have attracted a far greater percentage of the hardcore / collector / DJ / regular traveller type of member than most other forums. Therefore as all of the above have what is probably an unhealthy obsession with Soul music, I doubt that the posts will decline too much.
  6. He'd just lower the tone.
  7. There were two different cover photos, and a third printing with no photo. This is the order i believe they were published in:
  8. I have records that have travelled to Germany and back around twenty times, France and back once, Italy and back twice, Holland and back once, Dublin and Belfast and back twice each, and Boston, New York, and Phoenix and back. So I estimate (and this is a very, very rough guess) some of those singles have travelled over 30,000 miles whilst in my possession, and you have to add on the original trip from the States, plus wherever previous owners took them !
  9. Nothing's changed there then
  10. Which other thread ? Can someone put a link up please ?
  11. 4 out of 5 from me. It's probably as good as you are going to get in 30 minutes. I know Pete & Susan, not well, but enough to know they are out there every weekend, so they are part of the 'Northern Soul Scene', just as I am. What they wear is irrelevent. Loved Paul Mason's depreciating humour, especially the bit where he was talking about the Soul night being full of overweight 50+ blokes, and then said actually, it isn't like that at all, but we can soon do something about that, and then walked in. The part where he had just come off the dancefloor was great too. How many documentaries have you seen where the presenter has tried to dance ? This guy had been DANCING, he was covered in sweat and out of breath ! Also thought the shots of him spinning in different places was classic TV. He obviously has done this programme as a labour of love, and spent time thinking about this show when he should have been doing other things. Soul music is like a virus that we were all injected with at the beginning of our teens. It may lie dormant for a while, but it's still there, and will reappear at some point in everyone's life. It never leaves you, and that is what I saw on TV, a guy discovering that the joy of listening to, and dancing to Soul music never goes away.
  12. The 'Up & Coming DJ' can play whatever he feels is acceptable. I'm not going to dictate how he conducts himself. Personally, I would play the 100 Club Anniversary single, and although the Kent release would appear to have more 'legitimacy' (And I'm not asserting that it's not legitimate in any way), if we assume the 100 Club Anniversary is the 'promo', that means the first legitimate 'issue' is the Horace's copy, and the Kent single is a re-issue of that.
  13. I have no idea what you are waffling on about there Sooty, but the first vinyl release of Carla Thomas was on the 100 Club Anniversary single. Then it came out on Horace's, then Kent re-issued it themselves. Any other vinyl copies are illegal bootlegs as far as I know.
  14. No he doesn't, he sounds like someone who understands what 'copy & paste' means
  15. There was plenty of room on the train mate
  16. I have a spare copy for sale of this year's anniversary single (£60 including second class postage, PM me). However, it was bought on the night, quite deliberately as a record to sell on. Interestingly Dave, I know you don't attend the 100 Club anymore, so someone must have sold you a copy of each years single for you to have a full collection. And yes, I did buy Ady a pint on Saturday night
  17. I still have a copy for sale. £60 including second class postage. PM me.
  18. This years single : Cavaliers - We Go Together / Tokays - (Marriage) Is Only A State Of Mind. Spare copy £60 including second class postage. First PM Gets it.
  19. Rockabilly ! Rockabilly !! Chop their legs off now. That'll stop 'em drifting anywhere !
  20. 62p for the record. £6.58 for the postage £4.26 for the VAT £2.64 Import Duty £8.00 handling fee for the Post Office Or am I just being cynical
  21. I have a vague memory of attempting this discography, and giving up because there were so many gaps in the info I had managed to assemble together. Of course now, when I'm looking for it, I can't find the stuff I had put together. Whilst nowhere near complete it would have made a good starting point for other SS'ers to add to.
  22. OMG. When I read that I thought what a load of bollox, it's not 24 years old, so I went and checked. Yes, it is 24 years old..released in 1989. Where on earth have those years gone ???????????????????????????
  23. And you're still playing it today aren't you Ted ?
