  1. Got a nice holiday planned Michael ?
  2. I find it quite funny that this line is included in the review: "Owner Berry Gordy Jnr’s strict quality control regime" Such a pity Universal didn't follow the same quality control regime.
  3. Hi Bob, Did you get anywhere with obtaining a scan of this ? It's really strange, normally if you do an search of the net for a record you can find some reference to it, either as a past sale, or on a playlist, but I can't find a single thing about this release other than the reference you made to it above. So a scan would be really useful. I'm beginning to piece the story of the label together slowly, I've now made contact with Curtis Smith, and sent him a series of questions, which will answer a lot of the queries that are still outstanding.
  4. Pointless post unless you say who it is
  5. I know I've been a bit lax in updating the site recently, but I've just added a few more discographies, and can now proudly say that the site contains 1,701 discographies and label listings ! Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full

  6. I know I've been a bit lax in updating the site recently, but I've just added a few more discographies, and can now proudly say that the site contains 1,701 discographies and label listings ! Thanks again, to everyone who has contributed in the past, and keep the additions coming. I may be slow in adding some of them, but they all get there eventually. 7. I have a feeling Maxwells has closed. Certainly Greg mentioned the last night on fb, but I'm not sure if it's shut for good or refurbishment.
  8. To the Ends of the Earth: Northern Soul and Southern Nights in Western Australia (Hardback) by Paul Mercieca, Anne Chapman, Marnie O'Neill Northern Soul is a cultural phenomenon twice removed from its original source in Britain in the late 1960s. Rooted in gospel and rhythm and blues music, with pounding "four-to-the floor" beats, it is often accompanied by swirling strings, vibraphone flourishes, and infectious clapping. Since the 1960s Northern Soul has spread globally, via the Internet and migration, to such unlikely places as Medellin in Colombia. By giving voice to the members of this scene, this book explores theories about how identity and cultural literacy evolve through engagement with popular culture. It seeks to contribute to understandings about patterns of economic and media consumption, informal learning, intercultural communication, and about how migrants perceive themselves and form connections with others. Found it on Waterstones website, so I thought I'd ask on here whether anyone had read / seen it, and is it worth the £37.50 it coists ?
  9. I think the issue is more about associating a charity with someone with a conviction for fraud, because no matter how good Sooty's intentions are, there will always be that nagging doubt in some people's minds.
  10. I've seen you DJ, were you playing with explosives when you blew the roof off
  11. If Sooty started using punctuation they'd be easier to read.
  12. I guess the two of you know each other, but that qualifies as one of the best put down one liners I've ever seen on SS
  13. Steve, You are seeing things through those rose coloured glasses again....... There might not be 'Genre tagging' in Europe (Funny that I actually thought we were in Europe!), but there aren't full dancefloors all the time either. I've been to well over 40 events in half a dozen different countries, and your claim above is about as legitimate as saying there are loads of fresh new '60s sounds breaking big in the UK. There are some venues that play "everything from two-steppers and 80's dancers to funky edge, the odd oldie or two and Butch's hardcore 60s "one offs" and everything in between", but the majority don't, and never have, and certainly not in the same room, and never will !
  14. It would probably help if you gave us the name of the conman who is selling through your account as well Sid, so that we can avoid buying from him in the future.
  15. Yes No
  16. Wow ! Never heard of them !
  17. Kissing her etc Wanted as a Christmas present by a mates wife. Pm with price condition etc Ta.
  18. Jimmy Robbins was definitely a Casino play, but I'm too young for the Torch and the Wheel as well.
  19. I'm watching you Dopson !
  20. The Walter Jackson 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone' used a photocopied label of a real single that had a drill hole, so the boot had a photocopy of the drill hole, but no actual hole.
  21. Originally couldn't see a price, but then realised it was in the sub-title area.
  22. Got my refund from Universal confirmed today. In fairness they refunded the original purchase price plus postage, and the return postage (Which at their request I sent back as Special Delivery so it was over £8.) I did consider having a replacement set rather than a refund, but as there is still no guarantee that any set, and it does seem to be totally random, would be ok, I decided to get my cash back and spend it on something else.
  23. Yes, but is it any good ?
  24. What is a disabled toilet anyway ? One without a hole in the middle ? Surely you mean two toilets for people with disabilities. There's fuck all wrong with the toilets themselves I assume (Although this is Mace & Bidds we're talking about)
  25. Anything that isn't dished, skipping, or jumping !
