  1. The lineup is on the group discography on my site. Click on the link below my name
  2. Nope, couldn't use "Soul" either, because that is also trademarked. You'd have to use 'Music Of Black Origin'....Ah ! bit of a problem there as well.
  3. And that's what decent DJs have been doing for the last twenty years, buying originals that mean they can do a good spot. The top DJs in the country haven't suddenly appeared from nowhere, they have spent years of time and hard earned money buying the records they use to DJ What they haven't been doing is buying a box of bootlegs and claiming to be a DJ.
  4. It's simple, if you don't put any bootlegs / reissues in your DJ box, you can't play any when you DJ.
  5. "says Elaine, who co-wrote a book called Northern Soul released in 2013 by Random House, and whose new book with Gareth Sweeney, Northern Soul: An Illustrated History is out now through Ebury Publishing." Am I missing something here, or is this saying that there are two books written by Elaine ?
  6. Come on, this is Wigan, they would have had a pie and a cuppa tea
  7. Yep, that's what I was asked to do it for. Without going and looking I also said that the breakdown of venues pre Wigan to post Wigan was about a 35% to 65% split, ie the post Wigan venues were more prominent in the timeline given that Wigan closed in 1981 , and it's now 2014. I let Glenn Gunton have the info a couple of months ago, so don't actually know where they were up to with the liner notes / booklet for the 'Odessey' release.
  8. All from the SKM pages on Stafford allnighters. Research and interviews done by John Pugh. Guy Hennigan Interview - Read. Pat Brady Interview - Read. Tim Ashibende Interview - Read. The Stafford Playlists - Read. Venue Report from 1983 - Read.
  9. I've been clearing out the loft and came across this patch from the Carlton Club in Warrington. I know it's a rare one, because you simply never see them. So, does anyone want to make me an offer ? I'll keep it on here until Sunday night then it'll go on ebay. Sorry about the crap photo
  10. Where ? Like Steve Cato, I've done over fifty spots in the States, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Ireland, and never, not one single time, have I seen anyone DJ using MP3s. OK, some of the guys in the Modern Rooms use CDs, but they tend to be individual artists CDs with the track they want to play rather than a compilation CD from Tesco, but certainly every event I've attended outside of the UK has been original vinyl only, and the promoters of those events wouldn't want it any other way. (And it's Modern Soul so that doesn't count anyway ) So, please clarify which events you are talking about.
  11. Taken with my iPhone 5 believe it or not. Ffairfach station this morning
  12. Possibly because she was born in Manchester and brought up in Rochdale
  13. Funnily enough the last thing I claimed for was for a windcheater i sold on ebay. I didn't have the original receipt, but sent the proof of what it sold for, which was about £26. I also had proof of postage. The RM sent me a cheque for £22.80, which was £20 compensation, and £2.80 postage. Ok, it was slightly less than the price it sold for on ebay, but it was most of my money back !
  14. I watched it last night. Here's a review that counts more than mine though: "That was really good, I really enjoyed that." - Tony Rimmer, aged 30, who is into groups like Puddle Of Filth, and Slipknot. He also goes to the cinema on a regular basis to watch all the new films and added "I wouldn't mind seeing that on a big screen." So, there's a review from someone not into the scene at all (Although obviously he has had exposure to it, I just don't know where I went wrong with his musical education ), who regularly watches big budget films at the cinema. Personally I found it a bit scary to see so much of my life in 1974 on the screen, the detail was stupendous !
  15. Trouble is, those idiots that support bootlegging don't have the brains to realise that once a record has been bootlegged it makes it financially impossible for a legitimate company like Kent or Outta Sight to release the track legitimately. So, not only do the people who are due something from the record get nothing, but you get bootlegs with crap sound quality.
  16. But if it came originally from session tapes, doesn't that imply that Guy had it cut to an acetate himself, so there actually isn't an original anyway ?
  17. On the odd occasion things have gone missing for me I always wait until the appropriate timescale has lapsed, refund the buyer (It's not his fault RM lost it!), and then claim myself. This avoids the hassle of getting the buyer all the info that's needed by RM To be quite honest, if you sold me a record that went missing I'd expect you to claim because you have sold me something that hasn't arrived (Not your fault either), but I'd want my money back without all the hassle of getting posting info etc from you and filling in online claim forms. Put simply. I paid, you failed to deliver, you have to refund me and then what you do is up to you.
  18. That's the wrong way round. The seller has to claim. Here's a link to the Royal Mail site that explains how to claim https://www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/claims-process-for-inland-items
  19. It would for any serious collector. If it was a signed photo of Russ Winstanley I can see that having some value as a piece of NS memorabilia to some people, but signing a record ?
  20. As long as you got proof of postage you should be able to claim your £20 and postage back (I think they pay up to £22.00 compensation for lost parcels.)
  21. On a purely personal note, I'm out of the country this weekend, DJing in Paris, so obviously can't get to see the film at the cinema. What I don't want to find when I get back are lot's of reviews that give the whole plot / story away, I don't want people to not review it though, or make comments, I just don't want to read them until I've seen it myself. So if you are going to review the film in a thread, please make it clear what you are doing in the thread title. Or better still, keep them on this thread, and I won't look again. Thanks
  22. Ah, no sound at work unfortunately.
  23. Are you on a chart placing related bonus Ian
  24. Yes it was Back Street instrumental, but it's a completely different mix to the one on the single
  25. Yeah I suppose I'd be driving quite a nice car if I didn't keep buying these pesky round black things
